It’s said the truth shall set you free…but does it really?
Only hours after marrying Skylar, Jackson is placed under arrest and is being extradited back to Massachusetts to face the charges against him. His arrest goes viral and the internet gets flooded with rumors and theories about who his victim could be.
With DNA evidence on her side ambitious prosecutor, Adrianne Washington, is offering no deals and is ready to proceed to trial. However, her rush to judgment may have less to do with facts and more to do with a personal vendetta.
Unforeseen problems lurk around every corner and the newly married couple find themselves being tested in ways they never imagined. With the world falling apart around them, Jackson and Skylar are determined to keep their family together. Yet will all their efforts be in vain? Is the damage that’s been done to their lives beyond repair? Does the truth really set you free or are there some secrets that should stay buried?
Samyah Leighton is a wife and mother of four. She's always had a passion for writing and storytelling. She loves to read. Romance and erotica are her favorites genre. Samyah loves all kinds of animals and movies and music. She loves to cook and bake and window shop. She finds beauty in all types of love. For the most part Samyah enjoys the simple things in life.
If toxicity was a person, Skylar and Jackson would fit the bill. It would be a crime to let them own a pet rabbit, because these two are dysfunctional.
Lie, secrecy, and miscommunication permeate this couple. Each thrives on the other based on doubts, deceit and that is a recipe for catastrophe.
Taking a deep breath, I chose to read part three so I could see how far the author would push the story.
She stretched it to its limits. Jackson and Skylar's secrets are all revealed. As Sutton pointed out, this is all part of the insanity. Jackson used to be a man whore, it seems. A mysterious figure from his past, which he does not recognize, decided to wreak havoc on him. Years ago, Jackson dumped her. She was now out to bring him down for no other reason than to get revenge. How on earth is it possible to resent someone for this long?
The book did have some twists, but my goodness, I was exhausted. This already fidgety pair was thrown everything and the kitchen sink. The fact that Skylar didn't lose those babies is surprising to me.
As Jackson and Skylar worked hard to get Sutton back, they discovered that there were a lot of lies in the dark, that were beginning to come to light. It’s revealed that Jackson a 21 year old adult male had sex with a 15 year old Skylar and is facing prison time. Jackson and Skylar are placed in an awkward position after this revelation, and they must find common ground to discuss the disruption in their lives.
Yet, instead of being a good guy, Jackson again doubled down as a big a-hole and acted out at the apparently smart Skylar. In the book, the author writes that she is a child genius, but she has exposed herself to me as an idiot and a doormat.
Okay, I confess it was OK, but somehow it muddles up because of all the draining drama. Jackson is holding a deep secret from Skylar, and she is withholding one of her own. It appears that some family secrets have come out, corruption has been uprooted, and yet another secret holds sway between them. Sigh Incredulous! gawk!
Jackson and Skylar are the most exhausting couple I've ever read about, and a train wreck is what they are determined to be no matter what.
It's obvious that I'm a glutton for punishment, so did read the next one.
This is book 3 in the Redemption Series and they need to be read in order.
Skylar and Jackson Delaney have finally defied the odds against them and have successfully made it to the altar to only have Jackson arrested hours later for statutory rape. Nobody knows who the victim is but the press is running wild with ideas and rumors. Skylar and Jackson are trying to be positive be the outlook is not promising.
The Assistant District Attorney Adrienne Washington is ready to put Jackson away for life. She knows she has a big job ahead of her but is motivated by her own personal need for revenge on Jackson but will that end up costing her?
As Jackson and Skylar try and deal with what they have ahead of them they still have so many secrets from the other one and as they are slowly revealed will they be left with anything at the end when they may end up losing everything that matters the most?
I must say that I both loved and hated this book at the same time for the roller coaster that I was put on. This ending has been split into two books and this is only Part One so you know at the beginning that it won't be ending yet which makes you excited that there is more story but frustrated that you aren't going to know what happens right now and must patiently wait for the next one.
I was so happy at the end of book 2 to get my happy ever after to only have it ripped from me moments later and leave me hanging. I really wanted Skylar and Jackson to get their dreams but as this book went on I was super doubtful about their chances. As more secrets were revealed it seemed to push them further and further apart instead of bringing them together. Both of them blamed the other for the circumstances that they were in.
I felt so much pain for Sutton and everything she had to go through. Everytime it looked like her life was finally settling down it was taken from her. She was 15 years old and had lost so much and was almost afraid of what was going to happen next. I was so mad at what she had to go through due to someone wanting some revenge and Sutton was an innocent pawn in their game.
What blew my mind was how everyone was interconnected and had their own agendas. I was super mad at Adrienne for what she did that involved Sutton. I understood she was mad at Jackson but her revenge was low and I'm definitely looking forward to her getting some payback in part 2!! I definitely never saw the twist with Senator Kelly and we'll see where that goes and how everything comes out.
I am definitely looking forward to seeing how all the information that Sebastian obtains is used and how everything gets resolved. I can't believe how underhanded some people can be!
I really hope that everything is resolved between Jackson, Skylar and Sutton in the next book as I truly hate where everything is headed right now. This book has made me so mad and happy and I think the author has definitely done a great job of writing to get the reader so involved.
This is my review and how I see it. In Condemned: Part One author, Samyah Leighton takes us back to the beginning at the point of Skylar's whole life changing the news will not only bring her but Jackson as well to his knees. After the prologue we are taken to the point just after Jackson has been arrested and what happens following was definitely not what I expected. Talk about six degrees of separation.
Samayh Leighton does an excellent job of spinning this tell as the story unfolds. Things that will leave you wondering about in books one and two will come to light in book three. Jackson is condemned not just by public opinion, the officer who arrested him, but there is such a twist with the A.D.A, that I wanted to dial 1-800-Choke that Hoe. Book three is will take you on a ride and by the end of it, you want to help Skylar and Jackson bring down the those who threaten their family. Skylar's father, I did not see that coming.
This third book in this series was another I could not put down until the end. Both Jackson and Skylar do a lot of growing in this book. I understood that Skylar was going through a lot in this story, but I was so like...Gurl, use your brain and find their weaknesses!
As the outside world 'Condemned' Jackson without knowing all the facts and tore a family apart for revenge, will Skylar the prodigy emerge and bring down condemnation to those who threaten her family.
This book is for anyone one who likes to read books where there are many caveats to the story. I read this series in two days it was just that good!
There are no words! WOW! This is one of the best series I've read a long time. It is a roller coaster of everything! I'm not going to tell you anything so I won't spoil, please read this and then you will know!
Drama, Surprises, twists, turns, surprise characters and secrets revealed. The cliffhanger has you asking: Can Skylar and Jackson's love conquer all the obstacles or will they fall apart?
Beware: There is a cliffhanger ending. Be prepared to wait for the next book to find out if Jackson, Sutton and Skylar live happily ever after.
Just when the story starts to get good, BOOM, cliffhanger. Samyah is now one of my favorite authors. The lady knows how to plot out and weave a good story. I have really enjoyed this series. I just could not stop reading the book. I wanted to toss my kindle across the room several times. That's how much I got into this book. My emotions were everywhere.
How much can one couple take? Just when it seems that Sky and Jackson were going to get their HEA, another roadblock comes into play. I would have no problem kicking several of the character's azzes. Adrienne Washington is high on my list along with Skylar's mother. Adrienne, because vengeance is not hers. She has totally victimized an innocent girl and traumatized her already traumatized life, forcing her to experience things that she would not have ordinarily. Sky's mother, Julia Devereaux because she is a selfish beotch.
At least Sky and Jax appear to be more communicative through all of their troubles. Especially Jackson. He's trying his best to be an open book to Skylar, no matter how hard. Jackson only had arrangements with women because he was trying to forget Skylar. No matter how many arrangements he had, they just could not plug the hold in his heart. I just love their love. They both know there is no one but each other for them. The talk that Sutton had with her father about why he loves her mother was so touching, it brought me to tears. This family really loves each other and they have great friends that have their back. I can't wait for the conclusion to be published.
Love this authors work but the story pisses me off to see them going through something that happened 15years ago and the way their characters are being assassinated...I hope everything works out n the end for them and I hope all the corrupt ppl get what's coming to thrm
I’ll admit, I took a chance on a new to me author. The writing is exceptional in Condemned. The storyline, interesting. But not so much for this reviewer’s interests. It all starts off with an underaged pregnancy, which turned me off right there and then. I might be one of the few people who don’t like the glut of baby books flooding the market nowadays but there you have it.
Then we go to Skylar and Jackson getting married, and she’s pregnant again? That’s just too much baby for me to deal with. Then Jackson gets carted off to jail and is dealing with a ADA with a vendetta. Though why she’s going after him for this seems odd to me after all this time.
Like I said, it’s a well written book and Samyah has a great voice, the subject matter just didn’t end up being for me in the end.
As with the first two books I wasnt disappointed with this one either. Book 3 picks up where 2 left all and jumps right into the meat of everything that you want answers to. It was different seeing(and not being in the middle of) how a lie could have such an impact on so many lives and could effect so many things. I love when there is a character in a book that makes me just want to reach through the pages and shake the shit out of them and say "WTF are you doing!?!" and I got it with ADA Adrienne Washington. I'm afraid if I say anymore it will have a spoiler or two in it. All I can say is you wont be disappointed with this author.
