Mate of Her Heart (Wilde Creek One) Werewolf Eveny Moore is coming into her first heat at the age of twenty-five. Bucking tradition, she chooses to go through her first heat alone instead of choosing an unmated male from her pack. There is only one male that she wants in her bed and her life: her best friend, Luke Elrich. But Luke is human and doesn’t understand the consequences of her heat-cycle, so she hides out in a safehouse, planning to ride out the cycle alone and then ask Luke to be her mate. Luke has loved Eveny forever, but something is going on between them. He’s afraid he’s losing her forever, until she promises to talk to him after her heat-cycle is over. He overhears her brother, the pack alpha, ask another wolf to go to Eveny and take her through the heat-cycle. What her brother doesn’t know is that the male plans to invite some of his friends along. And Eveny is alone in a remote cabin, unprotected. Luke will do anything to keep her safe, even if it means going up against four wolves. This story contains a meddling brother, a human fighting a pack of male wolves for the only woman he’s ever loved, a female who thought she had a good plan, and bone-melting, skin-tingling hot sex between a male and a female who have loved each other forever. * * * * * The Alpha's Heart (Wilde Creek Two) Alpha wolf Acksel wakes up one morning in the bed of a woman he’s had a crush on since high school. Brynn Mara was the one human who had been friendly to him in school and now, ten years later, she is snuggled up at his side, smelling like passion and sweet dreams. Even though Acksel has declared that his pack members can mate with humans from now on, he knows that any woman he takes as his mate will have a target on her back. Especially if she’s a fragile human. Deciding it’s better to cut things off than string her along when there is no hope for a relationship, he leaves without a word and ignores her. But it doesn’t matter if Acksel acknowledges her or not, because their one night of passion has left a permanent reminder of what happens when one drunk wolf forgets protection. Angry, banished wolves from his pack discover Brynn’s secret and decide to use her against Acksel. His worst fears have come true and the only woman that ever touched his heart is now suffering because of his mistake. Can he save her in time? This book contains one pissed-off, emotionally damaged alpha, the human woman who can tame him, and a sweet little surprise that no one expected.
**This book contains the first two books in the Wilde Creek Series. If you already own those books, please do not purchase this book.**
Mate of Her Heart- 1.75 stars. I generally don’t like stories featuring best friends who are in love with each other but too scared to lose the other person by declaring their love. Fortunately, we don’t see the MCs with other people (this is a novella, so you’d think that it’s too short to include that, but it never ceases to amaze me the annoying stuff authors manage to sneak in there). Overall, it was a sweet story but had way too much sex in it for my preferences.
The Alpha’s Heart- 1 star. I was actively avoiding this one but it was the second part of this book. I don’t like stories featuring manhoes, especially ones where you hear intimate details of him with OW, so I definitely should have skipped it. But like I said, included. Not surprisingly then, I couldn’t stand the H. The only redeeming thing in this story was the h who didn’t just give into her libido and agree to be the H’s mate. She made him work for it. Sort of.
This is a short and sweet human/werewolf, friends to lovers romance. The concept of the humans being aware of the supernatural is one seldom used, but I thought it was well done here. The story sets the scene for a series that will take place in this little 'mixed' (werewolves and humans) town of Wilde Creek.
Luke is the human in this relationship and has been in love with his best friend for a long while, just hasn't said anything. Same goes for Eveny, the local pack alpha's sister, but for her, it's for a better reason: mixed matings aren't allowed (as in they're exiled if they happen). This series uses the concept of mating heat and it's a big focal point of the story as it's what spurs the events and the couple's eventual confessions.
Though it was a short read, it felt complete and I liked the characters thoroughly. They did get their happy ending, so don't fear. There was a good dose of romance, some steamy times, a loving father figure, a bit of sibling tension, some action, and a good ending with lessons learned.
The Alpha's Heart is book 2 in the Wilde Creek series. It really should be read after the first book or you'll miss a chunk of the story. This is Eveny's brother's book.
Acksel was a right jerk in the last book, so really this was his redemption story, and it was fairly well done. Drunk to the point of stumbling after he fixes the mess with his sister and wallowing in misery because of his royal screw up, he winds up sleeping with a woman he's had a crush on since school and manages to get her pregnant. Since Brynn is human, he runs away from her to protect her (not knowing she's pregnant) and proceeds to ignore her. His wolf has other ideas and slowly drives him to the brink.
Their story is full of family and pack drama, misunderstandings of their own makings, forgiveness, steamy fun times, humans proving they can be strong, and the power of forgiveness and inclusiveness. It was a great followup to the last book and I'm happy Acksel resolved his issues.
Mate of her Heart -It sounds so familiar that I swore I’ve read this before but I couldn’t since I didn’t leave a review I’d i did, and I always leave one. She wolf Eveny has a problem and that is the only man she wants as her mate is her best friend but a human. Luke has been in love with Eveny for many years but never could pass the friendship line until it’s to late. Eveny’s older brother is the power hungry alpha, Ackles and the pack and him will shun out any pack that wants to mate a human since humans are so beneath wolves. This is a problem for Eveny, take Luke as a mate and loose her father and brother or take a male wolf as her mate and his babies, her family but be missable. But her solution is to leave town before her heat cycle begins but her brother will have other ideas he promised he wouldn’t do while being overhear by Luke and what is said will kick start Luke into action by protecting his woman when she is vulnerable. Her brother will jumpstart his book towards the end of this one.
The Alpha’s Heart -It’s not that I hated it but it kept running on and on. Also Acksel from his sister book he was a total a$$hole towards his sister and her loving a human since she was young, but he in faceted fell for a human girl in elementary school when he was a weak kid and knew he could and won’t have feelings for Brynn because he did even after becoming alpha. The same feelings he had so did Brynn but she also kept it to her self until the night (his drunken night in his sisters book is the second chapter in this book) he is so drunk and bed Brynn and runs away in the middle of the night leaving something behind that will become a target for the banished males ( from Eveny story) that will find a way to take Acksel down and for one of them to become the new alpha. Will Ackles get to her in time or will the she wolves get to fight for their position as alpha female along side Acksel.
Read these two a long time ago but didn’t bother to follow this series as I disagreed with the allowable rape plot in book one. Amazon will not let me use a specific word to state what is allowed to nearly happen. I was able to get the whole series free through Smashwords so have re-read them before starting the rest. This author has really not done herself any favours with these first two books in this series. Book one could do with a total change of plot rewrite. Having read more books from this author, she does seem to have a varied opinion of her own sex. In Awaken A Wolf, the women were nothing more than sex objects and yet in others they have been strong, smart and capable.
1 - MATE OF HER HEART 1.5 stars. Not what I was expecting from this author. I understand the pack politics and though I vehemently disagree with Acksel's interfering attitude, I was more angered over the kiss and make up attitude at the end. Where was the feisty heroine standing up to her ratbag of an Alpha brother for everything he has done wrong? Why did the father not say anything? Poor Luke does nothing wrong but defend Eveny and gets the hell beaten out of him but hey, it is wolf politics, so understandable and acceptable. I only hope that Acksel learns from this experience because he is a shitty alpha so far. Read and reviewed a long time ago but was disappointed in this author for writing this drivel. 2 - THE ALPHAS HEART Acksel spends the first half being as completely unlikeable as he was in book one. Never really redeems himself, though I didn’t end up hating him as much. Brynn is the typical heroine who is treated like dirt but forgives every wrong within five minutes. The fact she puts up with all the she wolves, many of whom have had sex with Acksel, giving her crap for ages before putting them in their place, shows she is not that strong of an alpha female. She needed external items to do it too. Other characters are introduced to continue this series. Read and reviewed a long time ago but can only be read in the box set now.
Eveny is sister to the alpha Acksel. She will be coming into her wolf heat soon ,but she's not ready to take a mate. At least not anyone her brother picks. Luke is her special human friend, whom she loves ,but hasn't had a chance to explain things to. Luke is the local bartender and hears her brother, give away her location. Then this supposedly friend of her brothers calls 3 more friends. Luke who really loves Eveny goes and protects her and mates with her ,causing Acksel to change pack laws, so she won' t be banished. Acksel gets drunk and ends up following Brynn's cinnamon scent to her home. He has had a crush on her for years, but has ignored it because she was human. He sleeps with her, and gets her pregnant unknowingly. Mia her best friend and a wolf finds out and tells Acksel. But pack members who have been banished, find her and kidnap her to use as a pond to take over the pack. Acksel and his team rescue her and justice is served. He realizes times are changing and pack laws must evolve. Great paranormal read !!!!
Wilde Creek Volume One by R. E. Butler ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Two awesome, captivating and sizzling paranormal these stories. I have love reading these two books in this series, you get acquainted with the awesome characters and the characters in this series are amazing, powerful, exhilarating and engaging. SPECTACULAR fast paced well written read by a truly gifted author. I absolutely adored these stories they are a most gratifying read. The characters are more than convincing and certainly praise-worthy. In the first story Mate of Her Heart Eveny Moore is fearless and a valiant heroine. She is a wolf shifter that wants to mate with man she is in love with but there is one problem he is human. Luke Elrich is human but he has the instincts of a protective unwavering alpha and his devotion shines throughout the story for Eveny. The second story The Alpha's Heart features Eveny's brother Acksel who is a wolf shifter and Alpha of the Wilde Creek pack. Acksel has change his pack laws but he would love to have someone like his sister to look at him with love in her eyes. But when he finds his mate, he feels he needed to walk away to protect her because his mate is human. Brynn Mara has had a crush on Acksel since high school. Then one night she found him on her porch passed out. The next thing Brynn is waking up with feeling of a kiss on her thigh, this was the best night she ever had until she awoke the next morning alone and he wouldn't return her call. Overall, this book is a real treat for my eyes and soul. Even though I have read these stories before, I read them like they were new ideas, new love and I could read them again. I think that if you read these stories you will enjoy them as well. Great work by R E Butler and I'm excited to read her future work. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book that was given to me by R E Butler. The stories are a pure delight to read and I can’t wait to get to read another one, or other books by R E Butler. This is a Fabulous collection for the price!
R.E. Butler is a consistently riveting wolf shifter series creator. Wilde Creek is a town where humans and shifters live a separate but equal existence. This volume deals with the Alpha's sister having her first heat and choosing to go it alone, instead of getting mated to a wolf she didn't like. Evil intentions from the Alpha's top men cause his sister danger, including her mating with a human, which is a banishment inducing event. The second story is the aftermath of a human mate, and the Alpha changing the laws and rules to keep his sister in the pack. While he mulls over his decisions, he gets drunk and has sex with his human crush. He knows she is his mate, but stays away to protect her. Guess what? A drunk wolf gets human girl pregnant, and ignores her calls. He finds out after the wolves he banished for trying to rape his sister, kidnap and torture his mate. He will unleash his beast, but will it be too late for his mate and unborn pup?

Both these stories take place in Wilde Creek. First book is Mate of her heart. Eveny is a she wolf and sister to the packs alpha. Luke is a human who is her long time Best friend. Eveny's body has come to the time that she should take a mate and have babies. Like with in the next few days lol Problem is she doesn't trust or even like any of the males in her pack. Her wolf and she only want Luke who by wolf law is forbidden. Great story! I love the action and the interplay of the two characters. Their wonderful but boy did I want to hit the alpha/brother over the head with a 2by4 lol
Next book is about the alpha I want to hit over the head lol. His name is Acksel and the book is The Alpha's Heart. Acksel had just let his sister keep the love of her life and stay in the pack by changing laws letting them mate human but his heart is heavy so he does what males do and downs a bottle of whiskey. Since even for a wolf that's to much to drink and drive he walks home and ends up following his nose right to his high school crush Brynn home. He knows she is to fragile to be his mate in this pack. His enemies might make her a taget so after one hot night he leaves and plans to never look back. Yea well that worked out well now she has a secret surprise and he isn't answering her calls. But she still has a target painted because his enemies do know about her. Just what he wanted to avoid. Love Brynn's character a strong mix of sweet and tough. I love how the characters evolved and the action was super. Great story all the way around. Don't miss it Shifter fans I even forgave the alpha in the end too lol. Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.
The reason i chose this rating is because i absolutely enjoyed reading two stories one about a female wolf choosing a male human as a forever mate, and her brother alpha male wolf choosing a human female forever mate, it was really good a must read on to the next book.
This volume is the beginning of this great series and the reader does get to meet the shifters and humans of Wilde Creek. The plot and setting of this series is ideal and the characters are well written and developed. Enjoy.
Loving this series. Well written with a perfect balance of love, attitude and growing without crazy, over the top angst. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
Well written stories and well developed characters! I love the intertwining of the characters and the story! Fights, love, relationships, ups and downs! Can't wait for the next one!
Another book from my TBR file. This is a well written shifter story with great characters. I loved seeing all the characters from previous books. I would encourage everyone to go get this one. This is on I think you will enjoy I know I did. This one is worth your time. Go get this one and enjoy!!!
Adore these stories of wolf shifters and their human mates. They go through so much just to be able to live their lives as they want. Can’t wait to read the next volume. 5✨’s
Now this is a series! Lots of action, plenty of hot times, and scary to boot. Can't wait to read more cause you know with these characters there's definitely more.
Great series! Looking forward to reading the rest of the series. The characters are fabulous and I can't wait to read their stories. Good, steamy romance too.
Love all things by RE Butler and these two stories are no different ... Eveny and Luke have the odds against them and the conquer them!!! Acksel is a douche but but falls hard for Brynn ... but she's gonna had to be a bad A** to stand by his side!!! Love it!!!
Both are great reads! I bought each book individually. Both Eveny + Acksel were just trying to live their lives in peace. Because of the "laws." sometimes it was not possible. Even worst if you are the Alpha. I loved both books.
