He won the Robert Bausch Fiction Award and a fellowship from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts. He also spent five years in a West Virginia prison. He lives in Charleston, West Virginia, where he writes and tries to stay out of trouble.
This was my first published novel, though released only as an e-book from Gatto Publishing (Scotland) in 2004, back before Kindle and the like. The publisher vanished during my incarceration. As far as I know, it doesn't exist anymore.
