I know a bunch of you have been asking exactly you the heck I am. First off, my name is Whiskey Flowers, I was active duty army and now I am a proud member of the New Mexico National Guard. In my day job, I am a corrections officer, I watch the best and brightest Albuquerque has to offer and make little money doing it. I am originally from Oakland, California, home of dumbasses and knuckleheads everywhere where I attempted to become their leader until the army put me on a different path. As many of you have pointed out, I never got my high school diploma, I am a GED student but I make it look good. If any of you are ever in New Mexico and want a drinking partner, I got you.
I’ve enjoyed most of Whiskey Flowers books. The problem with this book is that it isn’t a book, it is half a book put out as if it were a full book. I was enjoying the book right up until I heard the word “epilogue”. This book was published in 2017 so it seems pretty clear the second half of this story is not going to be told. As a result I must recommend readers not waste their time.
The story (possible theoretical spoilers, personally I don’t think this book can be spoiled): MC is a half demon slave of the dark lord when the dark lord is taken down. MC looks like a 10 year old human so is taken in by a warrior and trained up to sword master status. Years later war comes to the kingdom the ramp up to which causes endless friction between the MC and nobles. As a result a noble betrays the MC in a manner that results in the MC being taken as a sex slave by dark elves. Dark elves only give birth to females and so they must capture human men to reproduce. For “reasons” those men quickly die. MC, being half demon, doesn’t die and so lives with the dark elves for 5 years. Then a portion of the dark elves split off from there hidden village to set up their own village under the protection of a human kingdom. Humans will give the dark elves criminals for breeding and the dark elves will scout and fight for the humans.
During negotiations for the village the human queen buys MC and he becomes her slave. Through stupid random chance it is discovered the MC can do magic and so MC is trained in magic. Later the queen decides the MC can leave anytime he wants due to his magic so does she free him? No. The queen’s bright idea is to have her daughter court as if MC isn’t a slave while keeping the MC as a slave. This involves the princess taking MC back to his home country where they are attacked. MC kills a bunch of people before discovering (extremely conveniently) that his father is one of the people he hasn’t fire-balled to death. Small reunion is had and references are made to the noble who betrayed MC having become powerful. The end.
Thank you ms. Barrera for getting him to re release this one. I'm kind of wondering why with your books we really have to search thru your titles to find the next one in the series and with other authors they are listed? This story as usual makes you want to read it thru to the end in one sitting and ends right when you are expecting him to return reunite with his family and extract some payback. The multiple story lines are well thought out and you have a smooth transition between them so readers are not left wondering about the characters. If you're looking for an author to follow that delivers a story that is a fun read and delivers then Whiskey Flowers is it. I look forward to reading the second and possibly the third in thus story line. Your reward for a good job is (you guessed it) more work.
Of all Wiskey Flowers books, this could easily be the best if...
He only finished the book! This one is the best, but ended way too early. I have read all of WE books, and despite not having the editing and such if professional novelists are detailed and have good character Building and bodybuilding - if you like mage and/or fantasy worlds. This book was a cut above, but just ended before a satisfying conclusion. Does our hero finally get to go up against Duke Eric? What if his many daughters, and do they have any of the same powers? Any human inclinations? PLEASE write THE WARRIOR WIZARD II !
Burns a half incubus, was created and raised by a true Vampire as a slave. A Holy Knight rescues him and adopts him as his son. Burns is handsome, bright, good with weapons, and desired by the ladies. A betrayal by a fellow officer lands him as a slave of the dark elves who use him to father children that mature in five years. He has an attachment to his daughters who he will not leave even with the chance of escape. I like the characters and the quirky take on paranormals. I look forward to the next book.

The story line was good enough for life reading but whoever did the proofreading for the piece that needs to rely on something other than a spell check ro
As many others have stated yes could use some more polishing with grammar and editing. I was able to read it with no issue unless grammar throws you off so completely. For the price I didn’t expect perfection. I have read several other books by the author. This one is more gritty but on par with the characters and dialogue which was good. I hope there is another because the ending was the biggest drawback to me. Just ending like reached page count. Much more story to tell I will definitely be looking for more!
As a fantasy reader and loving both description and the book title, it had a lot of potential. It also started off well and throughout gave good description. It is a shame that at times it was rushed and the plot jumped through too fast to hold a connection with the characters. Could have had less scene and plot changes with better and more engaging success
Really enjoyed it despite all the grammatical errors, I think spellcheck was the cause of some. I would love to see a follow-up book, as the ending was not as satisfying as others. It felt like the story was cutoff in the wrong place while leaving several unanswered plot elements. One of them being the promise of revenge for the betrayal.
I think the book has a very good story line, but rushed. It could have been a 3 book series. The are a lot of spelling and grammar errors. I hope there is a sequel because it ended bad. I want to try a couple more of the books to see if they tie in together, but I probably won't unless I find out for sure.
This author is just a natural story teller, they don't come round very often these days and so you have to make the most of them when they do. Fortunately there are plenty of books to choose from. Keep it up Whisky, I have become a proper fan. Can't think I've enjoyed books like this since Tolkien or David Gemmil. Thanks for the entertainment.
Its a good storyline, but you really need someone to edit your work. My big complaint though is that there doesn't appear to be a 2nd book, which I looked for and would read but, you just ended abruptly... Disappointing.
Great book head full of action intense betrayal all the good things that a sword-and-sorcery book needs now I would like to follow-up book to come out soon so that I can finish the story
Unfortunately the book was not edited well. There are several punctuation and sentence structure errors, making it hard to read and enjoy. I would get a new editor.
Very interesting story and very interesting characters. The curiae the story is very unique and I can't wait to hear the rest of the story and where it takes the characters
Another good one. The editing could use some work. But like a few of the other books by the author, the ending just ended. Not even a to be continued, just ended.
This story has a good plot but it still has a lot of errors. Why do Whiskey Flowers published books with a lot of grammar error and typos? Do they not proof their stories.
This has been a mostly interesting story. It was really getting good when it fell off a cliff. We just stopped in the middle of a thought. I really want to know how this ends.
It is apparent that Whiskey has never met a story with an ending! It is also apparent that Whiskey’s books are translated from another language, considering the many syntactic errors. Nonetheless, I’ve enjoyed every story by this author that I’ve read, including this one.
Not a huge amount of depth and somewhat predictable but for a pinch it is well worth the read. Definitely a new twist in the form of an unpredicted hero.
Great I always enjoy ol’ whiskeys stories. Keep um coming, reckon his storytelling is compelling and hard to put down, don’t worry if grammar not perfect
The story concept seems to be a good one, but this story needs a lot of editorial work to be an enjoyable read. Almost every other page had a noticeable misspelling, the dialog extended too long, and physical descriptions were lacking.
With a good editor, this story could be a decent read.
This book may seem like the others but leaves them in the dust. Adult and well thought out and also well written. I can't wait to see where W. Flowers takes the second book to.
Very confusing a lot of grammatical errors which made it hard to follow. Should have been edited before printing. I will not read another. The plot was okay but as mentioned very hard to follow. That is really all I have to say so please let me submit my rating so I can move on!
Annoying to say the least as I cannot think of any more to say about the book. Just suffice to say I do it recommend it to anyone!
