Long Night Moon
Something is killing innocent people around Rylie Gresham's town. The police think it's a wild animal, but she has other suspicions. Tengo que decir que esta reseña va a ser algo corta y bastante general porque, por pereza, me tardé demasiada en hacerla y por lo tanto no puedo entrar tanto en detalle como me gustaría, pero anyways.
Long Night Moon ha sido sin duda un progreso con respecto al libro anterior, pero aún así no supera la simple belleza del primero en la saga. Y quería que lo hiciera, quería que Long Night Moon me volara la mente, quería quedar encantada con este libro y que la historia creciera a partir de él y que todo fuera maravilloso; pero S.M. Raine logró esto sólo a medias.
Mientras la historia tomó un rumbo que me gustó: dos nuevos lobos que llegan al pueblo, a la vez que víctimas aparecen en todas partes, este libro me decepcionó mucho en el sentido de que no creció. Si voy a leer una saga de cuatro libros, acepto que el primero sea solo de introducción, puedo llegar a términos con el que en el segundo no suceda demasiado, pero ya que en el tercero la historia no despegue es algo frustrante.
Porque la trama de este libro estuvo bien, pero bien en el sentido de un libro, de "eh, mira esto, quizá te agrade", pero no en el sentido de marcarle el paso a una saga entera. Así que si van a leer la saga de "Seasons of the Moon", no la comiencen esperando una gran historia general, sino que una historia más pequeña por cada libro.
Disfruté mucho de la lectura de Long Night Moon, así como de la pluma simple y ágil de la autora. Me encantó que el misterio al principio pareciera soso y predecible, pero que al final la misma autora se riera en nuestras caras por el giro que le había dado a las cosas (ese plot-twist del final fue lo mejor de este libro, en realidad).
También me gustó aprender sobre los nuevos lobos en el pueblo, y cómo el tema de los hombres lobo se va expandiendo a medida que pasan los libros.
Este libro engancha bastante y se lee muy fácil, pero en un punto por el medio me empezó a parecer como rutina, porque no hay una mejor manera de describirlo. Las cosas se enlentizaron un poco, y, para un libro tan corto, se alargaron tal vez un poquito de más.
Otra asunto sin resolver que tengo con esta saga es que no termino de conectar con los personajes. Porque si bien me gustó mucho la trama y me encantó toda la atmósfera de misterio en esta historia, los personajes nunca me terminaron de llegar.
Rylie me cae muy bien, al igual que su tía, y Seth, y el amigo (cuyo nombre honestamente no recuerdo), y todo lo que quieras; pero siento que la autora me está intentando vender demasiado la pareja de Rylie y Seth, pero yo simplemente no puedo con ella.
Y es que no los amo juntos. O lo que es peor: me dan igual. Siento que gran parte de la historia se desenvuelve alrededor de su relación, y de la intensidad del amor que se tienen uno por el otro, pero yo no siento absolutamente nada por ellos, no es que no me gusten juntos, es que simplemente no me importan como pareja.
Y me esforcé por enamorarme de Seth. En serio. Pero es que simplemente no me encanta ese tipo.
El final, como ya he dicho, me encantó. Ese twist dio vuelta todo por completo y me hizo tal vez subirle el rating un poquito más.
Las cosas quedaron en un lugar extraño para el cuarto y último libro de la saga, pero al menos estoy segura de que va a ser interesante.
Un buen libro para una saga hasta ahora promedio.

This is one series that I've consistently enjoyed and book 3 is no exception. It's a little bit dark, a little bit angsty (in a good way) and it features one ball busting werewolf girl and the boy who loves her.
Rylie is both terribly complicated and incredibly straightforward as a character. There are times when she's driven almost exclusively by her wolf's needs which basically consist of gathering her pack close, protecting her territory and hunting. Then the girl side of her comes out and she is wracked by guilt over her actions. She's complex.
Seth is trying to make something of himself. He stood up to his mom and stayed with a girl who he should have hunted. He loves her but she's a danger to him. His brother is suddenly showing an interest in Rylie that he hadn't shown before and it confuses Seth and sets his inner alarm bells ringing. I do enjoy the relationship between Seth, Abel and Rylie. It's sticky and messy and things look like they're only going to get worse before they get better.
Rylie's future is up in the air at the end of the book. She needs to gain a measure of control over her wolf before she causes even more damage than she has already. The question becomes whether she'll be able to learn that control before she loses herself completely. I'm ready to see how all this plays out.

this one was so much better than the 2nd one in the series.
but also hot damn the twists were a non-sensical mess. the only thing that made sense was the tiredness outside of moons and THAT'S IT.
worth the quick read at least. hopefully the 4th one isn't a hot disaster.

Long Moon Night was incredibly trying on my FEELS. It ripped me apart and had me begging for mercy; but it did not provide. It tore my heart out and crushed it right in front of me. This book was absolutely merciless.
There are new wolves in town; a small family of three, their two kids being the ones of were-nature and the father being Wiccan. Quite the odd family, for sure. Though does their strangeness also mean that they are capable of mass-murder? What are they doing in such an obscure little town? More importantly, what do they want with Rylie?
The constant suspicions of Rylie, Seth, and Abel kept me on constant guard around these newcomers. Though they appeared fairly harmless, I found it hard to trust Bekah and Levi. There was just something not right about their unique abilities; the things they could do, no other known wolf had ever accomplished, which increased my suspicions of them all-the-more. Still not quite sure how I feel about them. They seem alright, but I still think they are hiding something.
I am seriously growing to love Abel. A bit vicious and hard-assed, he might be, but his dry humor and excitable attitude are driving me nuts with affection for him. I cannot WAIT to see what this final book will have in store for him, and especially for Rylie as well.
This story does not leave off on a promising note for poor Rylie, and I pray she finds the help that she so desperately needs. I am also kind of disappointed to find out that Rylie may not be so special or different from other werewolves after all. Very disheartening.

Compulsively readable. Gritty and brutal. Werewolves just don't seem to get happy endings.
Long Night Moon continues the story of Rylie Gresham and her struggle to manage her affliction while attempting to live a normal life. Reine begins to expand her fictional world by introducing a new set of characters with interesting abilities. While the characters are teenagers and the setting and scenarios revolve around high school, school dances and teenage shenanigans, this has been a series that pulls no punches with regards to tackling mature themes and brutality. Reine does an excellent job of balancing the gritty details with character development and interpersonal drama so that the narrative never descends into a total gore fest.
Long Night Moon continues the story of Rylie Gresham and her struggle to manage her affliction while attempting to live a normal life. One of the things I love about this series is things are very often not what they seem and there are always surprises that crop up and this installment has a whopper. I really enjoy this series each episode presents Rylie and Seth with new challenges. This time someone is killing people in the area and all signs point to a wolf and they have to find out who this is and stop it. This is a fun ride and the storytelling continues to entertain and make me want more. Definitely recommend this book, but do recommend the series be read in order to fully enjoy the continuity of the continuing adventure.

I really am enjoying this series. I know, odd for me to like a book about werewolves, much less a whole series. I love S. M. Reine's writing, her characters, plots. I feel I am in the story from the very start. I will keep this short as I want to move on to book #4. The author is happy to have readers and encourages lending of her books. Rylie is a werewolf. She has a werewolf hunting boyfriend named Seth. Seth has a brother named Abel who does not get along with Rylie. Rylie lives with her aunt Gwyneth. Someone is killing people in the town where Rylie lives. Is it a werewolf? Two new kids show up at school; they are werewolves too. However, they are able to wear silver jewelry. They claim that they are there to protect Rylie from Seth and Abel.

I almost loved this book as much as Harry Potter! I am not the kind of person to cry during a book or movie but this book led me to the verge of tears. I loved how unexpected the ending is and the suspense during this story was amazing! It was almost exciting to read it...Coming from a 12 year old (yes, I'm 12) I didn't expect to take so much from this story but I will definitely dig in to seasons of the moon 4!

This book is a bit more emotional. You know it will be hard when the book starts out in a fairly positive note. Their were surprising Changes and also not so surprising blood spread. The passion and ailment brought the emotions to the forefront at times.

Not a bad series but it still sits in that luke warm, mediocre category for me. One of the freebies on iBooks. The thing I'm not seeing here is character development and that's what I want. 2.5 stars

SM Reine does it again! Long Night Moon is a great next chapter in the "Seasons of the Moon" YA urban fantasy series that Reine has built, and as with the other two novels, I was HIGHLY entertained.
In terms of plot, "Long Night Moon" wasn't nearly as suspenseful as its predecessors, BUT the book certainly develops the larger world of the werewolf in a wonderful way. We get to see, bit by bit, who is actually a part of this world, and it's not JUST werewolves! We also get to see all the challenges that werewolves, especially Rylie, has to deal with, especially in terms of dealing with the human side vs. the wolf side.
Reine does an excellent job of bringing a lot of humanity to her characters, and she's also great at following human logic and natural reactions to the weird happenings around town. She's also not afraid to trouble the relationships and loyalties of her characters, and that always makes for super engaging, never predictable dynamics surrounding love, loyalty, duty, and friendship.
Long Night Moon, as well as the "Seasons of the Moon" series in general is a great YA series, and I'm super excited to pass it on to my daughter when she gets old enough!

She doesnt want to hurt anyone so she figures the safest place she can go to is her Aunt Gwens ranch. She figures that there will be plenty of wildlife around to feed her hunger when she is a werewolf.

This is probably the best book out of the series. Rylie grows a lot in this novel, as does Seth. It is really cool reading more of Gwyn, she is probably my favorite side character in this series. The new characters introduced in this novel are pretty aggravating and I didn't really care about them, even if they WERE new werewolves and you would think that would be interesting. In fact, the concept of other werewolves is more interesting than the execution.
The plot and the plot twist of the novel is, again, the best of the series. We got to learn more about the werewolves and that was really nice. It is darker than the other novels and that works very well with the subject matter. The entirety of the novel is more mature. This book left me really excited to finish the series.

-Sketchy Wiccan representation (coming from a practicing Wiccan, was a bit insulting)

I felt a lot of emotions while reading this book. I didn't know where it was going in certain places, if someone would die, or if Rylie was going to change how she felt about Seth. It certainly kept me on my toes! The werewolf changing scenes at the end were spectacular, too. I won't spoil what it's like, but the imagery had me totally creeped out. There's also an excellent balance of Riley and Seth as high school students -- formal dance, kissing and intimacy, school work and classrooms -- but Reine never lets you forget these two are different from the other students. And she never compromises the reality of her story in order to make the characters seem more sexy or perfect, which I hate in other novels. I love that Reine ended on this excellent cliff hanger, too. I'm so glad all the books are published so I can jump right into the next one.

I am really enjoying these YA books.
I love Ryrie's story of trying to live with the fear and loathing of being a werewolf.
The man she loves is a hunter, so what could possibly go wrong?
Two new wolves move into the town where Ryrie and Seth live, and at first they are seen as a threat as their adopted father is a Wiccan witch who can curb their behaviours with a degree of success.
Looking forward to the next book.

This was very engaging and set up the mystery of the murders well!
This was very engaging and set up the mystery of the murders well and yet was well in the red herrings. I found the new werewolves explored and introduced in a way that made me feel like I couldn't trust them and served as a good misdirection. I also loved how her aunt's arch was handled well and how it added to the plot in a way that did not take anything away. Then there is the emotional ending.

While the story progressed and took an unexpected turn towards the end, the change in pov’s suddenly after only seeing Riley’s POV in the first two, I was thrown off and made the connection to the story less amusing. I still enjoyed it and am looking forward to finishing the series.

Hmmm, interesting story but characters are hard to like. Snobby, too obsessed with designer clothes and how people look, etc. Hard to root for a heroine that's a bit of a whiny bitch.

this book was pretty boring. idk why but i just didn’t enjoy it that much. rylie was boring seth was boring i did like abel in this book tho. but that’s about it .
