Discovering she was adopted and her birth parents deceased was a shock, but it’s nothing compared to what Layla learns when she puts on the ring—her mother’s beautiful ring that is magically embedded with the story of her parent’s love and ultimate sacrifice. But will Layla survive reliving the events that destroyed them?
The Earth Angel series is a young adult adaptation of The Mystic Series by B.C. Burgess.
B.C. Burgess was born and raised in a small town in Oklahoma, fishing from muddy lakes and running barefoot down hot tar roads to climb trees with her friends. Though her roots run deep in the blue-collar neighborhoods of the Midwest, her head stays in the clouds, dreaming of her next adventure. She’s on a mission to travel the world, but when she’s home, she’s an emotional support human to her rescue dog Junebug. She loves her son, her family and her friends, but coffee is her soulmate. B.C. spent nearly two decades submerged in the world of fantasy, creating the magical tapestry of the Mystic Series, and she now looks forward to sharing the journey with you.

So I am going to say that I read book one a long time ago, in a desire to read some of my unread books on my kindle I decided to reread it and then finish up the ones I had already purchased. Well now I am completely hooks and there are NINETEEN freaking books in this series, which means I am going to have to get all of them, I only have thru 6.
Ok, sorry, done with my rant.
Layla has found her long lost family, now it is time to discover what happened to seperate her from her parents and she can do that using her mother's wedding ring, which her father enchanted.
I absolutely loved every second of The Ring! This book covers the backstory of the main characters parents and gives you important information needed for the story to progress. B.C. Burgess has an amazing writing style and her words are fill me like a big piece of chocolate cake (lol).
Oh my ever loving lord! This book, the love and pain and the unbelievable journey this author takes you on. I've never cried so much in my life. Romeo and Juliet have nothing on Rose and Aeden. Nothing. Knowing HOW this story is being told after reading the first book, oh my goodness...I feel like I lived it. Felt the loss myself...I won't say more as I don't want to spoil anything but wow... just wow. I can't recommend this book enough...screw five stars, I give it 10.
I did not expect to be invested in this book. Although I enjoyed book 1, book 2 got me hooked. I cried through most of it, if I'm being honest. I usually do not love books that make me cry, but Burgess did an excellent job here really portraying the love between characters, which emphasized the heartache.
Interesting—the girl put on the ring and is able to see the memories of her parents, events of their past, their courting and marriage and her adoption. Very proud daddy moment at the end. Love a daddy that will sacrifice everything to revenge his love and protect his child.
Good writing. A bit too emotional for me. To be fair, I think the writing and storytelling stayed above the line, actually. So, not that soppy. I skipped several pages simply because I was reading it among people I don't want see me bawling (three tissues had really exceeded my limit).
While JK Rowling let the Professor guessed and explain that it was his mother's love that make Potter the Boy Wonder, BC Burgess chose Layla's parents to describe their love to her, in the hope to give her courage and power.
3.5/5 Much much better than the first, however I still am unable to stand the characters, I’ve forgotten the names by now, but they all seem really boring. The gimmick of the ring replaying memories was really cool, and I’d definitely like to play with that idea, if I remember correctly the magic system in this book was more loose than the first? However this is a free book from a smaller author, it was pleasant enough.
