She thinks he's after her child, but what he really wants is… her.
For Melissa Hill, a relaxing vacation to Greece involved not only sand, but billionaire Galen Liakos as well. Their passion burned hot and bright, but when their love was threatened and their differences became painfully clear, Melissa disappeared with a hastily scribbled note.
Thank you for a wonderful vacation…
Galen Liakos is not merely a billionaire, he is the Alpha of the Liakos pack, and he is not one to be denied. Melissa is his mate, and he will have her with him once again. Non-negotiable. When he hunts her down, finding her heavily pregnant and struggling to survive, there is only one answer.
Galen will have Melissa in Greece, in his den, with his ring on her finger, and his claiming bite on her shoulder!
Lisa hadn't feared him in Greece, not when she'd discovered he was a billionaire nor when she found out he was a werewolf. Even discovering he was an alpha hadn't frightened her. But right then, right there, she was deadly afraid. Afraid of herself -she rubbed her stomach, attempting to soothe the child within her -afraid of her baby.
This book has the quality of an old-fashioned romance, although it has a paranormal twist: Maybe because the Alpha wolf is a greek tycoon, maybe because the action takes place vaguely somewhere in Greece, maybe because he calls her 'agapi mou', maybe because she is heavily pregnant and runs away from him because of the lies of an evil woman.
The book only presents the main female character's POV and she is full of pregnancy hormones - intense hormones because moreover she is carrying a werewolf baby. You can only imagine the drama and her despair.
I think this book is perfect for your summer holidays if you love shifters's stories and/or old-fashioned romance books.
This was your classic harlequin-esque book....with a twist.
-broody Greek alpha - check -pregnant heroine who runs or keeps pregnancy hidden - check -alpha locates pregnant heroine and forces her back to Greece - check -pushing away and cruel behavior - check -unresolved misunderstanding for more than 3/4 the book - check
now, for the twist ... the Alpha male is a wolf shifter.
-I can't even tell you with certainty that the hero was celibate during separation -I think he was, but I can't guarantee it -om drama - none -ow drama - of course there is the OW who caused all the problems and forced the heroine to run away. The hero is oblivious to her actions and can't understand why heroine is acting the way she is -major pushing away for nearly the entire book -no very steamy -just ok epilogue
Three and a half So this short story hits the ground running quite literally as our heroine Melissa is desperate to evade her ex who just happens to be an alpha werewolf oh and her baby daddy to boot! I wasn't sure if the absence of their initial romance would bug me but happily there's enough backstory filtered in that I didn't really mind. I'm not always a fan of the mate trope but felt it was used to great effect here as even Melissa seemed confused by it all. What's very obvious is that Galen is alpha to his core and I know those chest beating , domineering types can often overshadow those around them but Melissa really didn't seem perturbed by it and constantly challenged him although I admit I really wanted her to tackle 'that issue' head on. Without spoilers I can't say too much but the lack of communication between the couple really never helped matters. It was very clear that Melissa understood why Galen was so forceful and she didn't ever strike me as submissive in any way so I really enjoyed the bulk of the story . Yes I was happily reading and then the end came . O dear , there is a very nasty character in this who is brought to light but the outcome is far too ambiguous . I do not consider myself vengeful or vindictive but the author left just too much hanging in the air . Yes there a sweet epilogue to show the couple have found their happy ever after but having invested my time in this story I just wanted complete closure .
It has come to my attention that I rated this 3 stars and it's barely 2. Solved now.
The male mc is obnoxious. He doesn't listen to the female mc and is spends the whole book telling her what she's going to do, even when she's flipping out unhappy and knocked up.
The plot is Greek werewolf alpha guy knocked up human girl and then she ran away from him & he has finally found her and dragged her back to Greece. She's unhappy, he tells her too bad <~ the whole book. She's an idiot too btw because she doesn't shank everyone or ask outright questions. Female mc is hysterical the whole book & they blame it on pregnancy hormones.
There is actually a villain, which is the only reason why this isn't less stars points for that.
3.5 Howling Stars *rating based on the Howls series/soapy-para. Hardcore para fans may not like. *
Howls romance… the soapy-smut of paranormal… sigh… Like Shrek, I have layers…LOTS of them… and I have an addiction with OTT, soapy, books. I also have a thing for shifters…. So, I decided to start a Howls binge. Just like HP, most plots are ridonkulous, and chucked full of drama-llama. So, if you’re looking for something realistic (for para) and serious… this isn’t it.
The Werewolf Tycoon’s Baby is Melissa (Lissa) and Galen’s story. Galen is the alpha of the Liakos pack. He’s also bossy as hell, and an uber rich Greek tycoon. Lissa is his human mate that ran away several months earlier when evil wannabe OW Andrea threatened her and her unborn baby.
The book starts out with Galen finally tracking down the wayward Lissa in America, who’s now 7-8-ish months pregnant. What follows is a drama fueled journey chucked full of misunderstandings, ASSumptions, and TONS from a certifiable crazy alpha-bitch. I don’t want to give spoilers, but will confirm that the “conflict” comes from a misunderstanding, not cruelty/actions of the H. So, there’s not much groveling, and she does forgive him quickly. (quick like hate to love, not page length) She hated him based on intel provided by the nasty OW, and never fact checked with her mate, so I guess it’s ok.
Bottom Line This genre isn’t for everyone. You really have to enjoy an OTT drama soapy-opera-ish storyline… But this one’s free on KU, and a pretty good one to dip your toe in, if on the fence. There’s a cute little epilogue a year and change in the future. ** Safety- no cheating or shenanigans.
A Harlequin romance/werewolf mashup. It had an interested premise and the start of an interesting shifter world. There were some different elements to the shifter world which were a result of the Harlequinesque plot. Not sure the hero had to be Greek. There being no real world legends that I know of pertaining to werewolves in Greece, I think the authors owes us some explanation of why they are there. Who knows about shifters? Seemed like everyone did. There was the requisite evil OW who was written unevenly. Overall the story just felt rushed. And seriously? What a dumb ass title. It makes me cringe.
The blurb was good but the story was just average. Months ago Melissa spent a hot night with the alpha of the Greek wolf pack, after which he tells her he impregnated her. However his alpha bitch dispels the notions of their HEA, telling her she'd be killed after birth and the child taken away- and our heroine runs. Fast forward 7 months and the alpha comes to US to kidnap his "mate" back. It's a short story filled with lack of communication. The h and H don't talk- and the bitch Andrea interferes till the end. Most of the plot was annoying since the couple didn't speak to one another- only accusations were made- and I was honestly disappointed. Safe 2.25/5
I go between 3 and 4 STARS. The enjoyment factor was a 4, while the overall story/depth/characters was like a 3. I went in with low expectations, and came out wonderfully surprised. And the best part is, I got to use my new Kindle Unlimited membership. YAY!
Apparently I've got "baby" on the brain, and this one scratched my itch ;)
I read this back to back with another of Ms. Kyle’s latest Howls romance and they were fairly opposite. The first was a basic, fluffy bit of shifter fun. This was more melodramatic. The bulk of the romantic, falling in love bits happen off-page, which was a bit of a bummer. This felt like the second half of a romance. You know, the part where they are *dramatic soap opera voiceover* separated by misunderstandings, but their love is too great for them to stay apart. *blinks* There’s a little bit of smutty times, not as much humor as in other Celia Kyle outings and then everything ends as it should, natch. Honestly, secret babies aren’t my fave, but if you need a quick shifter fix, you may enjoy this.
This was a really good story. It was actually engaging enough that I had only intended to start it and read a bit before bed and I ended up finishing the book because I just couldn't put it down. I kept thinking I just wanted to read a little bit more...and ended up short on sleep. LOL.
Melissa (aka Lissa) is a pregnant woman that is trying to escape the father of her child. Lissa went to Greece for a vacation and met Galen. She thought they were in love but then was told things that made her fear for herself and her child. Lissa ran, trying to hide from Galen but Galen is a billionaire as well as being the Alpha of a werewolf pack and he wont be denied.
I don't want to go into things too much to avoid spoilers but lets just say that everyone made mistakes (like a lack of communication) but the main issue is another woman that wants Galen for herself. She threatened Lissa and filled her head with things that made Lissa run, thinking that Galen had tricked her and was planning bad things for her. When Galen found Lissa after months apart, didn't give her much of a choice about coming back with him despite her strenuous objections. It takes a bit of time and communication but things do work out and Galen and Lissa end the story with a HEA.
This was a very enjoyable story. I liked Lissa and understood her fears. I liked Galen in the end but since he seems like a bad guy at first and we don't get his PoV, it's hard to figure him and the situation out immediately. Both of them had one major flaw...an inability to communicate about the important things. The story was very good, pulling me in and holding on until I finished so I'd recommend it. :)
Plot: The book opens in medias res, with Melissa running through a restaurant, trying to get away from her ex. Melissa is a human, currently a waitress, while her ex is the powerful alpha of a werewolf pack. She is pregnant and ran from him when she discovered something horrible. It appears, according to what she overhears or someone said (unclear) that Galen intends for her to have the baby, he'll take the baby away, and then he'll kill her. He kidnaps her, takes her back to his home in Greece, and the rest of the story is a series of miscommunications and other woman drama.
Character development: No world-building. You find, through reading, that humans and werewolves live together. Happily? Tentatively? I don't know. The story here depends solely on miscommunication and OW drama. . However, it really was all down to Galen not listening and the pack allowing a toxic female in their midst. Stavros was really the only character I liked.
This was a quick anxious read for me. The story pulled my hate of bullies reading trigger. But, I couldn't wait to see how the Alpha bully handled the other wolf bully who said this. . . . "You are safe for now because you carry his child. But the moment you do not, you will be discarded." The Alpha handled it perfectly!
Our anti-hero turned out to be an okay bully in the end. The mean bully got kicked to the curb... Couldn't have been a better afternoon read!
This was just ok. Wasn't as angsty as I thought it would be, and if Melissa only would have been more vocal thing's probably wouldn't have escalated the way they did. Unfortunately their chemistry was unconvincing as well, but that's probably because it's a short novella, so not much to work with.
Celia Kyle is my go to shifter writer. Anything she writes is an automatic read for me. So, when this beautiful book hit my kindle I squealed.
From the moment the book began, it felt as if the reader was missing vital information. We are planted right into the leading lady running from someone. Throughout the entire first few chapters, the reader is trying to piece together what happened previously.
When we get more information, it starts to make sense. The only issue is that out of all the shifter books I have devoured, Galen Liakos came off as mean, arrogant, and not the typical sexy alpha you would think he would be. Especially by the standards, Celia Kyle has set.
Instead of falling for the alpha Galen Liakos, he had me wanting to growl at him for how harsh he was with his mate Melissa "Lissa" Hill. He even listed to his clan instead of his mate.
Overall, this book felt rushed and left the reader in need of answers throughout. The end of this book was what would be expected. The epilogue was sweet and will leave a smile on your face.
With all that being stated. You can bet your bottom dollar the next time Celia Kyle releases a book there will be no hesitation on me devouring it. This book just was not my favorite not all book can be. She has many others that I have read more than once.
I enjoyed watching the Greek macho wolf get taken down a notch cause he really ticked me off to no end during the story. For someone who claimed to love his mate at the end, he sure never showed a bit of it. At the same time I really liked that finally the true colors of an alpha male came out. Most shifter stories always have the male doting over the female mate, not wanting to cause her any emotional pain, but in this story you see the real feelings of the male no matter how much he loves her which gives the story more credibility At the same time you learn that communication is very important in a relationship, it can make it, or break it.
Lissa is a human blinded by insecurities created by another and risks losing the love of her life because of this. Greek Alpha Tycoon Galen risks losing his mate because of his macho tendencies. They both risk losing each other because of the lack of communication.
This is a trip into the reality of an alpha's mind.
During most of the book you think he been sleeping with his Alpha Bitch Andrea. You are lead to believe this until 80%! He even had plans with Andrea to be together and adopt a baby. But that was before he meet her - his mate. I’m sure if they had these plans then they have slept together at some point in the past. You we’re made to believe they were still together and going behind her back though her actions and his.
It does look like he remained faithful during separation though. The whole mate for life thing....
The story is entertaining but at the same time quiet frustrating as at the start is not theirs so you do feel that you have skipped a bit but that said it was a great read. The characters you will love or be frustrated with them and it is told from Melissa's point of view only. She is very straight and you get where she is coming from, Galen is a hard alpha and very harsh towards her except where the baby is concerned. I did enjoy reading this and don't think you would be disappointed.
This was delightful in a very angsty way. It was like reading and old-school Harlequin with fur. (It even has the broody Alpha and the big misunderstanding/lack of communication). I devoured this book and loved it all (until the end which was much more ambiguous than I like. I had questions that needed answers!). But the epilogue was great.
The story seemed a bit abrupt. I know the author wanted to start the story after they had met and Melissa was pregnant, but there were parts of the story that I didn't seem to understand and needed clarification.
2.5 0 3.0 *** This was like an old school HQ with werewolves. Bossy H who would rather side with the crazy alpha female than his mate. The h started out strong then turned into a doormat just accepting all the crap thrown her way.
One of the enjoyable Howls Romance. Like the HPs, the H is an idiot alpha who lets the ow get away with being nasty to the heroine until the very end. At least, he didn’t cheat and had no interest in the ow. He was just quite dense.
okay this one was meh. The hero was disappointing and the heroine had no backbone. I liked the book and i feel there was more potential to make it a genuine 4 stars but it missed the mark in a fee things.
The hero needed to show he was sorry more and he needed the have the heroines back wayyyy more. It felt like the heroine was the one that really only cared for a deeper relationship other then sex and babies, hero was all about sex and babies and i wished he could it more effort into convincing both the heroine and the reader that he did in fact care about her. The whole Alpha bitch thing was just obnoxious and a stick in my side, it made no sense, he was really stupid for a good portion of this book.
I also hate that 98% of the book they argued and like right at the end they have sex and get together FINALLY. Yeah i wasn’t really convinced that he cared a whole lot about her, i feel like he was more interested in the baby and she was a accessory. Yeah i hate when they have sex and get together right at the end. Poor grovel and not much affection…
V heroine (she explained that he was her first and only but we dont get to read it in the book) slow insta soulmates shifters misunderstanding miscommunication angst not good enough grovel disappointing hero pushover heroine push/pull from h ow drama (the pack has a “alpha bitch” who was in love with the H and she caused all of the misunderstandings. H sides with her wayyyy to much and does a shitty job of reassuring the h that he wasn’t sleeping with her) no om drama safeish no protection time skip to epilogue (i hate that) abrupt ending hea epilogue w/kids disappointing epilogue spicy lvl 2.5/5
