I travel the World to witness life on the streets and to document it. For me this is a combination of two passions: Travelling & Street Photography. It's not about cameras, settings and locations. It's about the eye, the moment and having fun. I use a Lumix GX1 for most of my photos. That's it, nothing more nothing less...
its very useful for those who lacks to photographers community -like me -, it covers different topics, shares some interestimg opinions about street photography. which you won't be in need to read if you had that community. but here, they're written in small chapters, of even smaller paragraphs, which makes it both useful and easy to follow while moving in streets, taking the bus or sitting in the metro. and it's free.
A good book for learning and understanding the techniques and principles that go with street photography as a whole and also the challenges involved. People who don't have any knowledge of photography can also learn a lot about various styles and modes of photography and will get an ample amount of motivation to go out there in the streets and capture everyday life through their own unique style of photography.
Must read for all kinds of photography buffs for sure.
This short book (around 100 pages) has a nice presentation, with great photos on almost every page. Although it starts quite nicely, it soon takes a turn that I didn't like. It discusses marketing almost more than actual street photography: how to leverage social networks and Flickr to get maximum exposure. Some parts gave me the feeling that the whole book was an ego trip and a marketing stunt. It has some interesting "chapters", but that's about it. It is free though, so I can't really complain.
A short & sweet book. Encouraging. It left me wanting for more regarding techniques, creative ideas (e.g. composition, condition-related). There were a few, but I felt the author had a lot more to propose (perhaps in his next book). Still, it's available for free and carries lots of value. Respect!
As a beginner street photographer, I love this book. It's surprising how street-photographers have a different approach and style in doing this. Thomas style is a new knowledge for me and I found out very interesting.
