Touching Yesterday

Rate this book
Jeff Wilde is waking up from the best and worst five weeks of his life. He remembers his boyfriend breaking up with him. He remembers going camping. He even recalls hitting his head and waking up in 1927, decades before he was born, but now he’s woken up in the 21st century again. His boyfriend claims they never broke up and that Jeff has been in a coma for five weeks. As Jeff eases back into the 21st century life he thought he’d lost, he needs answers. Did he really travel to 1927 or was it all a dream? Did he really save a little girl’s life in 1927? Could that little girl have been his grandmother? Did he change history, and, if he did, was it for the better?

I am a straight great-grandmother living alone with my cat, Cleopatra, in an independent living facility for the elderly. I have four children, eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

I started writing gay love stories in 2003 after meeting over 3,000 gay men on line who educated me to the plight of the LGBT community in America.

I’ve been told that because I believe gays can be Christian I’m going to Hell – well, I’d rather be there with my gay friends than in Heaven with some of the people who judge them.

Wish I could give this 4.75 stars, as I cannot bring myself to give it a full 5 stars - I would if only it was longer!

One of A T Weaver's shortest reads (I zipped through this one in less than 2 hours - but I am a quick reader), it was an interesting story. Especially because, apparently, I was very unaware of what life was like in the USA in 1927.

I love 'time travel' stories, books, movies, etc., and 'Touching Yesterday' did not disappoint. I felt the characters to be real/believable, and the amateur genealogist in me was particularly intrigued with some of the relations.

The occasional references to visits to popular restaurant chains (e.g., Culver's, Wendy's, Outback) oddly made the book seem less a work of fiction, but that is just a personal observation. I was quite surprised to learn that "Blackwater Jack's" is a real place.

I would have loved the story to be a tiny bit 'meatier'; more historical detail; more character interactions; etc., making it longer.

Above all else, I especially loved how the author "wrapped it all up" at the end. I won't reveal any details here - go read it!

"Do you believe in time travel?" ~Kyle

What would you do if you walked a thin line between real and the surreal? What if one day you awoke to another time, experience the life, unsure of where or why? What if no one believed what you experienced, but the mysteries followed and you had a strong desire to solve it?

This book began in the millennial south. Jeff has been dumped by his boyfriend, Bob, and lost his home. Determined to make it, he does the best that he could do, even allowing his friends to include him in a camping trip where his ex and his newest conquest will be.

Be careful what you ask for, or imagine...

Spending a holiday weekend with his friend and his ex gave Jeff a taste in revenge. Bob was miserable and somehow regretting moving on, while Jeff felt a bit better that even though life had thrown him a curved ball. Then the impossible happens and one accident found Jeff in 1927 South, caught in a mystery that even HE could not explain. How did a 21st century man end up in the 20th century? Why was he thrown back in time and would he ever find his way home?

The mystery continues.

It was like living in an alternate universe. When Jeff awoke from his coma, life had changed. Now he had to solve the mystery of why life had changed and what HE had changed during his time in the past. Answers led him to the great grandson of the man he had met and thrown him into another life altering situation. Jeff's travel to the past awoke in him something that was missing in the present and its answers led him to his future. Would anyone believe his travel through time? And would he be able to find his happy ever after? And why did all this happen to him?

If you are not a fan of the what if this happened? or time travel, this book will be lost on you. I am a firm believer of past lives and will continue to seek out books that tell its tales. I think the author did a good job of conjuring up a story that many have imagined. I was pleasantly surprised at the scenes, but was still left with answers that personally I needed answered.

I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.

Have you ever wondered, "What if?"
Sometimes, all we need is a little push to change our lives for the better.

After his boyfriend of ten years breaks up with him and insists he moves out of their home, Jeff Wilde is left emotionally stranded in his own life. That is, until he hits his head and wakes up in the past.

What begins as a confusing reality for Jeff inevitably puts into motion an event that literally changes his future, and launches an investigation into history to discover what key unlocked the timeline to which he returns after waking.

A.T. Weaver indeed "weaves" a fantastical tale of love and loss among the possibilities of alternate paths, taking us on a journey of time, romance, and personal choices.

"Touching Yesterday" begins slow, but leads you into an intriguing story of time travel that will leave you wondering,

I really enjoyed this story it was just a little something different, there was something about this well written fast reading romance that made it so very difficult to put down. There was no way you could predict out how this story ends for Jeff without reading it from start to finish as this wonderful story unfolds.
