With more than 300 memorable quotes drawn from the Sherlockian universe, this anthology is the perfect gift for any fan of the world’s greatest detective.
“When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth .” —Sherlock Holmes, “The Blanched Soldier”
Sherlock Holmes is renowned for his incredible mind, wry observations, and subtle wit, and this glorious collection features more than 300 quotes associated with Holmes himself as well as all the iconic characters in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s stories. The words range from deeply philosophical to wonderfully humorous, including “I never make exceptions. An exception disproves the rule,” from “The Sign of Four.”
I don’t normally enjoy quote books but this one was so interesting just reading all the different things Watson and Sherlock have said in the books. Plus as an added bonus the language is so beautiful and reading it out loud really gives me a thrill!
This book was okay and I enjoyed reading it, but the title is a bit misleading. Not all quotes are from Sherlock and not all are full with Wit and Wisdom or Humour and Inspiration. Sometimes they might only be if you'd read the whole scene, but just as itself it's hard to say what might be funny or inspiring about it. However, it was still a nice read and the book is just beautifully made and the perfect present for every Sherlock Holmes fan!
A great little collection of some of the fantastic quotes from the Holmes Stories.
It was a fun read, and brought back all sorts of happy memories of reading the books - my only gripe being I wish the specific stories / cases had been included with the quotes so you would know which ones they were from! But apart from that, I loved it. It was a great, quick little read and one easy to get through in one sitting with a cup of tea!
I loved this book, and was expecting the quotes to be from not only Sherlock, but the reason I rated it as a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ is because some quotes were mixed up. This meaning, a quote that literally contained Waston’s name, was said to be quoted by him. Doesn’t really make sense, does it?
