I am connected to share market for long time, but never read any book like this Middle class to Money class (to be precise I have read books on financial market), it’s first one where many eye opening stories are mentioned, if any investor follow this simple rule mentioned in the book then he/she can be rich and wealthy, and also I am happy that I have read this book.
You have come across many such people who argue on share market and blame it, why they blame; because they buy any share on someone’s recommendation and make loss without knowing anything about company and his fundamental. So if you explain to that person about company and what work they are doing then they say I don’t know such things, so this book is for those who want to know basic of about share market. Here in this book both author has explained financial market in very simple way, where many factors being covered like mutual fund, ultra short term debt funds, equity etc.
Middle class to money class is written in such a way that any novice can understand about share market. Here sources and links are provided to find EPS, P/E ratio, Book Value of the company, dividend history etc; also how to calculate and compare with Piers Company is taught in simple way.
What I liked from the book is a Quote from Warren buffet and Peter Lynch which is good source of motivation for investors. I really appreciate the guideline provided in the book by author, when to enter the market and when to exit i.e. purchase and sale of any script.
I highly recommend this book to middle class people and amateur investor in share market, to be rich and wealthy. Also one suggestion to the author, we need further in-depth explanation, links and good source from your next book.
Some of the interesting lines from the book:
1. What Warren Buffett thinks about the yellow metal? “Gold gets dug out of the ground in Africa, or someplace. Then we melt it down, dig another hole, bury it again and pay people to stand around guarding it. It has no utility. Anyone watching from Mars would be scratching their head” 2. Other guys read Playboy. I read annual reports. – Warren Buffett 3. Be greedy when others are fearful and fearful when others are greedy. – Warren Buffett.
When I first saw this book in the Goodreads Giveaway section, I immediately applied for it. I waited eagerly for this one to arrive and when it did I started reading it almost instantly.
Personal finance is not only for the rich people, it is life tool as money is at the core of our society's structure. There are many books out there on the topic, but they are mostly written with respect to the west. India functions a bit differently. The financial tool available here are not the same as in the west. So, following those books and relating that knowledge to the Indian context is a challenge especially when one is not from the financial space. I, being one of those, always searched for something that could simplify the tools and the construct for me. This book does that to a great extent.
The authors being everyday people, know what challenges the middle-class faces while investing. They use hard facts and math to debunk the commonly held myths. They present clear, precise and crisp points on how to go about investing as a beginner. They explain all the necessary terms like EPA, for the reader and how to use them. They discuss all the tools available for an investor and the pros and cons of each of them.
I like this book. It is a great read for an amateur investor. I would have given it 5 stars if they have discussed some of the stocks and fields one should invest in given the current economic situation, however, I do understand why they didn't. They also have a blog which is in the process of being setup; I'll be surely following that.
I received this book as a part of the Goodreads Giveaway program.
This book stresses upon the need to invest in equities and gives a brief outline of the approach they follow and some insights into their thought process and some good investing opportunities they have observed in the past.
Those already well aware of concepts of investing could perhaps give this book a miss. However if you are totally new to the world of investing, this book is worth a try.
Personally, my learning was the names of other books mentioned, which I would definitely like to read in the near future.
