The D-Boy Type is What She Likes

Rate this book
“What do you want from me? I told you how broken I am…”
Losing someone close to you can spiritually, mentally, and physically cause one to shut the world out at whatever expense it takes. Especially when their death is ruled as your fault. Quiet, and guarding her heart, twenty-six-year-old Salem Banks is struggling to find balance in her life once she is released from prison for an unfit crime. With the only help being provided by her cousin Makiya, she finds herself feeling less worthy of being loved, but Huss has other plans to capture her broken heart, and mend it back together.
A boss in his own right, Huss’ life is simply made at thirty years old. His days revolve around frequent trips to visit his beautiful daughter, and his nights are filled with running one of the hottest clubs in Detroit. When he goes home at night, though, the only thing missing in his cold sheets is a woman. His pursuit on Salem is a battle, but he’s never faced one he hasn’t conquered yet, and it won’t start with her.
Having been Salem’s right-hand since diaper days, Makiya is thrilled to have her cousin home. She isn’t the same as when she left, though. Caught up in her own trials with “family” and a guy she had grown close with, Kiya finds herself questioning how and why she had fallen for a man like Grady. It wasn’t hard to do, but her insecurities and the envious people in her life try to desperately break the bond they share.
Rudely, and in one of the sexiest ways possible, Grady Cooper, better known as Gee Coop, interrupts Kiya’s whirlwind of a life. Their first encounter had both of their minds wondering, and it wasn’t long before Gee’s curiosity regarding the vicious beauty were answered. A true hustler, with the heart of gold, he finds himself cornered to make one of the hardest decisions of his life. One that may cost him his sanity and his woman.
Though meeting the men may have not been what either woman had planned for their lives, their masculine presence cannot be ignored. Nor will the need to feel love remain a foreign subject. In this jaw dropping, soul snatching, book collaboration from Dominique Thomas and BriAnn Danae, the admiral d-boys and stunning head-strong cousins from Detroit, will keep readers glued to the pages and left clutching their pearls.

This was a very good read as I could feel Salem's sadness concerning the accident. The characters faced realistic situations & the storyline had a smooth, interesting flow. I liked Salem & Hess together, while Grady & Kiya were definitely made for each other. I was disappointed in Salem & Kiya's mothers attitudes. Their lack of made them unfavorable characters to me. I really want Josiah to move on...Drama was real & I thought book 1 was a great beginning to the series & I'm so ready for part 2

Now here I was thinking Huss was really going to be the perfect dude for Salem. I admit she should've told him about her past before giving someone else the opportunity to. What pissed me off with him was there fact he never let her explain. Josiah and the rest of Salem's family really need to stop holding her past over her head. Shelly was down right dumb behind Grady and would've done better to realize he didn't want her. I wonder just how far her bitterness took her. I loved Kiya and how she didn't hesitate to be there for Salem. She lived her life how she wanted and I was happy she gave Grady a chance. That ending has me heated because it's as if Josiah is willing to do everything possible to break Salem down not realizing she's broken enough. I hope Kiya finds out everything concerning why she's in her current predicament. And Marley needs an old fashion ass cutting for not minding her own business.

Fire pure fire

This book was good from the to the end. I can't wait til Marley gets hers. Josiah is bitter and he needs to be dealt with soon. Salem and Makiyah both need to have happiness and I hope Grady and Huss are able to stay out of jail and make their girls happy in the end. I can't wait til the next book drops please don't make us wait to long.

OMG

I can't believe Josiah would stoop to that level. I hope Salem pulls through because she is about to hit tock bottom with Kiyah gone. I hope that hoe Shelly is dead if she set Grady up. Huss need to get off his high horse and listen to Salem and let her explain herself. Marley just mad she got rejected. I'm so ready for Part 2 please don't keep us waiting to long.

Awesome

Typically when two authors combine the book isn't good. That ABSOLUTELY wasn't the case with this book. It's always a bitter and scorned person who can't move on always dropping the tea. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book don't take too long.

Great read. The flow of the story line was smooth, it had just the right amount of details to not drag things out. I really liked how every emotion was realistic. Can't wait for book 2!

Great Read

I am most definitely feeling this read! It's not your typical at all. I felt so bad for Salem. She just couldn't catch a brake. The tragedy that happened was not her fault yet people whom weren't present at the time continue to blame her! Kiya was the only person who had her back through all her ups and downs. The bond they had was unbreakable. Grady and Huss were both good dudes, but once you got on there bad side things could quickly change. Huss should have handled the situation between him and Salem differently. She tried to explain things but other situations prevented it from happening. I couldn't stand Marley with her jealous butt. That chick made me want to reach in this book and knock her head off. Duffie and Toy were both cool females. They were easy to get along with. Josiah was extremely foul for his actions. I was shocked when he was revealed in this book. I never would have guessed! Shelly is going to be trouble for Huss and Grady. A woman scorned will do anything. The way things have played out so far have me on edge waiting for me! I'm too anxious to find out whether Salem or Kiya will get there happy ending!

The Past and the Pain

You ever read a story that's makes your mouth drop at the opening page, well that's what the prequel does. I wasn't at all ready for the word that flows through these pages. To have something so loving taken away and the one's who you should feel most comfort and love from shun you. The story lines vibe is different, it feels and sounds different. Here you have 4 different characters, younger and older, with very mature characteristics. The connections out the gate is one many don't express, rather men don't. Now don't get it twisted Huss and Grady are both dominant men, but you get a family oriented vibe from them. Somebody love them and taught them how to show affection to women. Grady is a little rough around the edges, but that more so a protective vibe. Salem story is so heartbreaking, her pain is real. She has this barrier on her heart, with not knowing how to cope, it makes it somewhat hard for her to be open. Barriers however are made to be broken, but just like with any good thing there is always a snake in the grass. Makiya is a differnt breed her demenor is very potent, she's a no nonsense type, and pretty much anyone can get if she feels disrespected. The story line is refreshing, not to often you get to read about men being so open and connected. Willing to try something new. Huss and Grady are a different type of breed. That scene with Toy was top notch, but you'll have to read to find out. Well played ladies, I can't wait for paid 2.

It started out slow but picked up and I truly enjoyed this read. Salem did work my nerves with dragging her feet to tell Huss about her past and it surely came back to bite her in the behind. I understand her hesitation but it kills me how women can open their legs faster than their mouths at times. Makiya is a great cousin and friend to Salem and I hate that she finds herself in a jam trying to be her "cousin's keeper". Huss and Gee are my dudes for sure. They are crazy as hell at times but that's what makes them such great characters. I'm looking forward to the next book and seeing how Salem can make me yell at her some more!

Enjoyed

This is a mix of real life issues and new men with money and power. Poor Salem is trying to start over after doing time in prison for daughter dying in car accident. Between her baby daddy and new enemies she can't get a break. Money man Huss is love but is hurt by the truth so he cuts her off. Grady and Kiya trying a relationship. Ut Salem baby daddy is a problem. Part 2 should wrap it up but I hope Salem and Kiya get their happy ending. I love Grady too

Bri and Dom did that

I can't believe Briann Danae and Dominique Thomas than collaborated and wrote a straight banga. Is D Boy for Dope boy or/ and Detroit boy? You'll have to read it to find out what type of D Boy Grady and Huss are that Mikaya and Salem like! Please hurry with part 2 because I'm hanging off that cliff!
