This was another sweet story in the Sweshan world. Human Bryson had been through 13 prospective mates without getting pregnant. The rules kept him from seeing his twin brother Brian or friends until he got pregnant. He was totally burned out after hope shattering weeks of sex, shopping, and entertainment. During this time, he developed a relationship with Sweshan Dr. Talr. Well, Dr. Talr saw that Bryson was depressed and, with his clout, kept him for the next week with a plan for renewal and redirection, with no pressure to perform. So thus, the romancing "Dr. Talr style" began.
This book was a tad shorter from the previous installment. It introduced some pretty cool technology, but was dependent upon the world building in book 3.
The storyline did change from the previous book. It introduced the concept of mate. Dr. Talr had known since day 1 that Bryson was his mate. This idea was seconded when Takar, Brian's Sweshan mate, stated that he knew they were mates when they first met. The government reproduction program seems to be out of sync with natural mating. So I wonder where the author is going with this.

The devastating global war that Earth has barely survived in the year 2327 has had unintended consequences. Humans are now dependent on aliens helping them to rebuild, and deals have been struck with various planets to “export” men. Glecerus starred in the first two books of this series, and Sweshan is the location for books three and four. Sweshan is a water planet that has suffered an unimaginable environmental catastrophe when toxins destroyed the Sweshians’ ability to procreate by destroying all female reproductive organs. Genetically modified humans are their only hope for survival, and even though their “rules” are strange at first glance, I can see how the threat of extinction can cause some unusual practices.

This is my favorite book in the series. Bryson and Tyrl get to know each other before they are paired to see if they can be fertile together.
The stronger bond between them makes for a better romance. Also, the under sea world building is richer and the process of matching is hurting Bryson which makes for a good conflict.

Iszonyatosan berágtam erre a könyvre. Igazából már az előző kötetben is utáltam a gondolatát annak, ahogy a férfiakkal bántak, de Grant és Ael kapcsán annyira nem volt éles a rendszer kegyetlensége, mint Bryson esetében.
Bryson már három hónapja a bolygón élt és már tizenkét potenciális partnerrel kellett eltöltenie egy hetet, minden eredmény nélkül. És, ahogy minden hetedik napon újra és újra negatív a terhességi tesztje, Bryson egyre inkább kezdi elveszíteni a hitét abban, hogy valaha is lesz párja. Ráadásul senki sem érti, miért nem sikerül, hiszen még soha, senkinek nem kellett ennyi sweshannal együtt lennie. Bryson depresszióját növeli, hogy azóta sem találkozott az ikertestvérével és Grantet sem láthatta.
Amikor tizenharmadik alkalommal sem sikerül teherbe esnie, doktor Tarl már nem tudja tovább elviselni a férfi szomorúságát, így következő partnerjelöltként a házába viteti a férfit. Tarl, az első pillanattól vonzódik Brysonhoz, mostanra már szerelmes belé és meg van győződve róla, hogy ő a párja. Azonban azt is tudja, hogy a sérült lelkű férfit csak lassan tudja meghódítani és az első dolga az, hogy visszaállítsa Bryson önbecsülését. Így magával viszi a kórházba és felajánlja neki, hogy tanuljon orvosnak.
Nagyon megszerettem Tarlt, hatalmas mennyiségű empátia és kedvesség van benne. Szörnyű tragédiát kellett átélnie, amikor megmérgezték a bolygójukat és emiatt magába zárkózott. Ő volt az első, akit nem csak az érdekelt, hogy megdugja Brysont, hanem először segített a férfinak visszanyerni az önbecsülését, szakmát ad a kezébe és azt várja, hogy majd a férfi tegye meg az első lépést felé. De amennyire kedveltem, valahol haragudtam is rá: az elejétől tudta, hogy Bryson az övé, mégis hagyta, hogy a férfi újra és újra átélje a csalódást.
A kötetben felbukkant Grant és Ael is és akkor újra mérges lettem, mert nekik is írt az írónő némi drámát: mintha nem lett volna elég az, amin átmentek az előző kötetben.
A vége a könyvnek teljesen össze lett csapva és totálisan berágtam, mert azt reméltem, hogy Tarl valahogy eléri majd a végén, hogy ezt a lelketlen rendszert eltöröljék és inkább engedjék, hogy az ösztönök segítsenek párt találni. De ez nem történt meg. Pedig, amikor találkoztak Briannel, Bryson ikertestvérével és kiderült, hogy az ő párja is rögtön tudta, hogy Brian az övé, reménykedtem valami pozitív változásban. Pont Byson esete a legjobb példa arra, hogy nem elég, ha valakik papíron összepasszolnak, kell ott más is.
Jelenleg nagyon haragszom és csak azért adok a következő kötetnek esélyt, mert egy új bolygóra megyünk és kíváncsi vagyok, hogy Eric és Dennis a két férfi, akikkel kiváltották Georgie-t, hogy boldogul.

Such a fun sweet sci-fi read! This series follows the men brought from Earth to mate with alien beings in exchange for relief for their families on Earth.
Bryson has volunteered for the aquatic life planet to be place with a mate, but mates are only chosen after one has been impregnated. Thirteen weeks with thirteen men, and no pregnancy. Bryson is heading for a mental breakdown. The only one who understands is his alien doctor.
Loving this series. And I still want to read about Dennis and Eric on the reptilian planet!

So far I’ve probably disliked this one the most. No real plot, or a lot of excitement. But again it was a short story that I could read before bed and it was enough to enjoy.
Mostly I’m exited to get to the next book. A group of brothers if I remember correctly😋

This is the 4th book in the Alien Lovers series I've read by Olivia Black. I'm giving this book five 🌟. This book held my interest from beginning to end, just like the other books in this series. I've already purchased the 5th book and can't wait to start reading it. If you really enjoy reading about the paranormal, this is one series I would recommend. It will hold your interest from beginning to end.

Great couple
Honestly, I had the same problems with the science in this book that existed in the last one, and considering that Talr is the head doctor for the humans, it is even more egregious, but I liked that this book really focused on Bryson and his need to emotional stability, that only Talr could give.
