I enjoyed this collection of articulate, thoughtful essays by people who have thought hard about the rigors, costs, and demands of celibacy. My favorite chapter was the one by Henri Nouwen. He suggests in compelling ways that the celibate can live with a holy vacancy that invites and demonstrates the presence of God in the world.
