Charlotte West writes romance about strong heroines and the sexy alpha males who love them. She lives in Washington state with her husband and very large dog (think miniature pony size). She spends way too much money on books, and way too much time reading. When she’s not reading, she’s feeding her reality television addiction, eating chocolate, or traveling. She's been known to eat her weight in Girl Scout cookies.

She has a degree in Science and a Master's in Education, neither of which she is currently using but is still paying for. Occasionally, she moonlights as a YA author.

The best of the best about this book:
The hero stayed celibate during 3-year separation.
The hero was a rock star. A rock star who took wedding vows serious.
Wow! Yep, I couldn’t believe it either.
Amazing!!!
Safe rock star romance! Loved it about this book!!!

The story was a bit messy. Many unnecessary misunderstandings, the main question why the hero said those awful things many years ago that made her leave him?
I didn’t get all my answers.

But behind his as’holish façade was a good man who loved and respected his woman.

He said "sh*t" sometimes, but he did great.

MC were young - he 24, she 21 – so, I blame their immature behavior on their age ;-)

Well I’ll be damned! This story sucked me in and refused to let me go until I read the very last sentence! I can’t tell you how glad I am that I took a chance on this story because it really was that good. Addison and Warren’s story is going to make you not only fall in love with them, but also every side character.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Having witnessed her own mother’s tragedy at the age of three, Addison has seen her fair share of heartbreak to rival any grown-up. Now in the care of her Rock Star father, Addison now has something she’s always wanted which is having someone who loves her. But having a famous father is not easy and when you’re LITERALLY a part of the life on tour, it’s going to get very crowded.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Meeting the lead singer of “Wild Minds” shouldn’t be a big deal for someone like Addison and it’s not. Her father is a rock legend and coming face to face with a guy that’s a Tour opener doesn’t mean anything to her. But connection does, and Warren and Addison have it in spades. With an attraction like theirs, something is about to happen. But at what cost?

It’s been four years since Warren shook Addison’s world upside down. But if it’s one thing that he’s aware of, is that his love for her has never wavered and it never will. It’s been a tumultuous four years and the biggest change of all is that his band is now one of the biggest groups of all time and fame and fortune has come in ten fold. But Warren would give it all up for a woman that’s haunted him for the past four years. A woman who refuses to be within walking distance of him. That woman is none other than his wife. Yea….things just got complicated.

I don’t want to give away this story too much but I will say that I enjoyed it ALOT! From reading about the tour experience with both bands, to Addison’s relationship with her dad and the other band mates, everything was executed perfectly. I LOVED Warren and I admired the fact that he wasn’t afraid to let anyone knew how he felt about Addison. He was demanding and bossy but he loved her with everything he had and I felt it.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

My only issue was that I would’ve loved to have his POV in this story because it would’ve been better to hear his voice in certain scenes. I also had a slight problem with Addison during the middle of the story but luckily everything worked itself out. Now can we talk about the side characters?! I’m itching to get my hands on their stories!! I see so much potential in this series and I can’t wait to see how everything is going to unfold.

If you’re looking for a funny, sexy read that’s slightly emotional, then this one is for you.

Hero was an ass, who learned nothing from their time apart. I’m guessing he was concerned more about his hangovers and blue balls. But as I said he learned nothing.

He admitted that when he married heroine he wanted her father’s money, and wanted revenge on him. So he DID use her. After that admission, he was head over heels in love with her doesn’t ring true. And it didn’t. I felt the monumental issue which was the reason for the MCs’ break up was dealt very callously and was swept under the rug.
He either used her or he didn’t. He couldn’t have used her WHILE being in love with her. Then he was mad at heroine for finding it out? On top of being an arrogant and user of an asshole, he was also brainless. His proof of not caring about heroine’s money as a proof of his love actually proved nothing. Because he had more money now so he no longer needs her money and he can now afford a pricey postnuptial. I don’t see how that has to do anything with proving his love. The actual proving would have been to support heroine and give her the space and time which didn’t give even for a minute. He was immature, selfish and a user who never grew up. Even his grand gesture in the end was cowardly and immature because he couldn’t grow up enough to chase heroine like an adult so they can discuss things like an adult. He hid behind a public display because let’s admit it, how many of you would tell your husband to go suck balls when they’re declaring their love to you in a special concert. I would. But I am also called a frigid feminist bitch.
He abandoned her the moment there was actual real difficulty in the marriage and he blamed her of running?
He and his friends never for a minute though heroine leaving them might be their fault. They were too happy blaming her and labelling her as a gold digger. One of them were her best friend and one claimed to love her. I can do without both if that’s what love and friendship look like.
The best friend actually had a laughable idea of apology. He was like “I said sorry, how the fuck long would you take to decide you’ll accept my apology bitch?” Trust me, that’s the vibe I got.

Heroine btw wasn’t much better when it came to using her best friend as a shield. But she had a shit father, a selfish stepmother who camouflaged herself as h’s well wisher and a user husband. So I’ll let that slide.

Heroine’s father was a piece of work. He never gave heroine a home life. Paraded different women in front of her, didn’t give up anything including smoking for her and wanted to be her best friend rather than her dad. Then he was judgemental with double standards, huge amount of slut shaming, “you’ll do things because I’m your father and I said so”, a resentment towards the friends who was like a foster family to heroine because HE shipped her off, and hated the fact heroine didn’t see him as a father.
He doted on his wife. He straightaway gave up his career and retired the moment she was pregnant and gave up smoking because it was bad for the baby. These were things he didn’t do for heroine and the stepmother knew about them because she was her nanny, but never thought she should call him out on it or make him apologise or not rub it in her face. No. She faked difficult pregnancy, because she didn’t like the situation that heroine and her father didn’t get along and heroine wanted to be left alone. Well, tough, bitch. It’s not your problem and world doesn’t revolve around you. You have NO right to guilt trip heroine for acting a little bratty towards a father who deserves nothing from her.

This father who only wanted to be there for fancy stuff like giving her away when she get married, not to hold her and tell her she’s the most important person in his life.

The father then asks heroine to move in with them because he wants to be a better father to his son and needs her help for it. I mean, I can’t even....fucking hell!

This was a great Rockstar/secret marriage/angsty read.
I really enjoyed reading this one.
I started it in the evening and couldn't put it down!
I read well into the night/early morning...

Which made me wake up like this...

Saying things like this to my hubs...

description

But, who needs sleep when there are books to read anyway??

My only issue with this story was Addy. I couldn't really get where she was coming from with all her secrets and lies. Yes, yes, I know the book is LITERALLY called Good Lies, but the lies were not even good. They were immature and cowardly. I wasn't impressed with her character. But, I loved the rest of the story and cast of characters. And, the book made me feel . I wasn't just being told, I was actually feeling... and when a book can do that for me and my cold, black heart, well...

This is my first encounter with a Charlotte West book and since I was in the mood for a rock star romance, I decided to give it a try. I'm happy to report that I really liked the spin she put on the story.

Addison (Addy) is the child Billy Wanks never knew he had. Orphaned at a young age after a traumatic experience, Addison is thrust into the rock star lifestyle. Billy knew at first glance that she was his child but in case there was any question, he knew for sure after her many visits to the principal's office.

Enter nannies and tutors and a life on the road and Addy does quite well. Until she breaks the golden rule and gets caught making out with another upcoming rock star and then all hell breaks loose.

Both Warren and Addy can't stay away from each other and when Addy's supposed to be off to college, she's really off to Europe with Warren's band, Wild Minds, and her best friend, Lily. Unfortunately, things don't turn out the way Addy had hoped and her and Lily return home without a word.

description

Now, it's four years later and her father's band is doing a farewell tour and he's expecting Addy to be there every step of the way. The problem? She hasn't seen or spoken to Warren in all that time.

I liked the dilemmas Addy faced and the multifaceted dramas she had to handle even if a few were of her own doing. I also enjoyed seeing a wiser Billy and that he's not as unaware as he seems. Daisy was also a nice addition and I was happy about where that relationship is going.

I did think the huge drama was a little unrealistic especially for people who have had to deal with the public so much. But...it made the "grand gesture" really sweet and romantic.

Hard Lessons is book #2 and it's about Billy and Daisy and supposedly coming out sometime this summer. I'm hoping we get some angsty moments out of those two. Next up is Ash and Lily's book, Bad Reasons, coming out sometime in the fall and I can hardly wait for that one!

I didn't know the author's work and I was positively surprised.
Hero was celibate for the three years of separation earned a star and was a positive point in history. Our heroine is very annoying.
But overall it was a good story and I will follow the author's work.

First time reading this author...

and as I understand it was her debut novel...

so, I'll be short with my review - for a debut novel, the author has done a good job at pulling the "second-chances NA romance drama" with a filler of angsty sequences while we all discover the "truths" behind the "good lies" the heroine tosses out of her based on her inner insecurities, fears of being unloved and "not good enough", that all started with "not talking shit through" and "not listening", so basically if you are prepared to endure several hasty, immature decisions thrived on stupidity, recklessness...then, sure give a go...

if you are very wary of that kind of conduct, I believe a hard case of "roll eyes" will be your permanent expression, well at least during the reading process LOL

there were all this little things that make the plot substantial and are crucial for me to develop a hard bond with the story and the characters, here - several point were a bit stretched and I was reluctant to take them under serious consideration

Hmmm this one is a tricky one to review. This book could've have been great for had it not been the heroine and her decision making processes. The h was very selfish and cowardly. Also the fact that the following books in this series all have manwhore heros who lead the heroines on with "open relationships." Not digging that at all. But otherwise, this was a solid book. Just the right amount of angst for a Friday afternoon.

Addy and War sitting in a tree....

This story was incredibly good. It was fun, interesting, and had the perfect amount of angst. There’s a forbidden, and secret relationship. Rocker dad, and a rocker lover. Told in the heroines POV. Which does make it a bit hard to connect to the hero of the story. None the less it’s still a good read. Rocker romance isn’t really my favorite because it can all start to feel the same, but this story felt fresh in many ways. Really enjoyable and I’m actually invested in many of the secondary characters, so I’ll most likely continue the series.

This is not your average rock star love story, and I mean that in the very best way. I was completely charmed by this story and impressed with how it was written in a way that made these "larger than life" characters relatable and endearing. Good Lies was by turns laugh-out-loud funny, heavy with emotion, and sinfully sexy - and it flowed seamlessly and naturally throughout the entire story. It held me completely captive - not wanting to put it down until the delightful, heart melting conclusion.

It probably goes without saying that I adored Warren and Addy. They're both deeply flawed and sometimes frustrating, but in ways that tugged at my heartstrings and inevitably left me wanting to shake some sense into them and then hug them tightly. Interestingly, they weren't the only characters who pulled that emotion from me and - in fact - this book is positively riddled with secondary characters who felt like primary characters because my heart attached itself to them all so easily. This is the first book in a new series - and thank God for that, because my greedy heart is basically demanding a story for everyone now. Literally - every single person in this book. I want so much more.

Let's circle back to that "first book in the series" note. First books tend to be my least favorite in any given series because so much exposition goes into them. I never felt that here. I never felt like it dragged or got boring. This is more than a solid start - it's an excellent start and, well - I already talked about the demands my greedy heart is making.

Don't hesitate to pick this one up! It's more than a love story -there are a few different layers of here and all of them are written with the same warm, humorous and heartfelt touch. The butterflies are delivered in spades and the epic smile on my face as I wrap up this review should serve as all the testimony you need for how this book left me feeling. So good! Don't pass it by! ~ Shelly, 4.5 Stars

When I read the blurb for Good Lies, my grabby hands couldn't get a hold of this book fast enough. It was the perfect book to jump into as it kept me hooked from the get go. Addy and Warren had a tumultuous relationship from the start but Good Lord what a ride!! This was absolutely fantastic and I could not get enough!!

What happens when the daughter of Rock Star royalty, Addison Wanks meet's Rock and Roll's newest Bad Boy and up and coming next big thing? Fireworks folks! I absolutely loved this novel! I loved the family dynamics, the amazing side characters, the fabulous humor and the steamy sexy-times! Warren and Addison were perfect together. They fought hard and they loved even harder. While they both had flaws they needed to work through it was amazing to see (through flashbacks) the evolution of their relationship.

I am absolutely impressed and dazzled by Ms. west's debut novel. I am officially hooked and need more from her. She will now forever be on my radar as someone to watch as I am officially hooked! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula

****

This was not just a love story, although there was plenty of that. This is a story about family, about friends, and how they come together to shape your childhood, your life. It had so many levels, yet never felt overly complicated or droning. It had that feel to it where you are pulled into the world, into the lives of these characters, who as frustrating as they can be come out feeling like family. Gotta love them, flaws and all.

The way the story plays out felt almost like a mystery. Never showing it's full hand, laying one card at a time on the table. This kept me gripping my Kindle and flipping pages, desperate to reach the end, then desolated when the end came. I could read about these characters for books to come, so I hope this is the first of what will be a long series.

Despite not usually being a rockstar book fan, this was not reflective of that sub genre as a whole. It was oh so much more. Emotions and truths, just enough angst and oh my all the feels. Absolutely all the stars!

Addison Wanks, rock'n'roll's favorite daughter, is good at keeping secrets.

Secret One

Secret Three

Europe doesn't go so hot. Her sexy lead singer turned out to be king of the assholes. He's arrogant, demanding and controlling. Addy loathes Warren Price. Oh, well.

Secret Four

Fast forward a few years and Addy is planning to attend her father's farewell tour when she hears the news—Wild Minds is back in the good graces of Wanks and Janks. Warren was great, he was totally devoted. He was the best kind of rocker, wild, hot, fun and FAITHFUL. Addison well, I actually felt (which I very rarely do) that Warren actually deserved better than her. Someone more loyal to him. I found her selfish and all about her and her twat of a father who I can't stand in his own book, he was a total sleazebag there. Here he was funny but also irritating.

Not sure if I'll give Asher's book a shot, I felt sorry for him until it appeared he was screwing around with all those groupies to "forget" his h. Will have to checkout the reviews when it comes out. The honest reviews though, not gushing bullshit ones.

THIS WAS. SO. GOOD!!!! Completely taken aback by how much I enjoyed the story, and how completely invested I was. I know this is set in a fictitious world, and the one I live in is so very different from Addy's - but I related to her so much. (Man, this millennial existential crisis-inducing stories are really getting to me nowadays.)

If this is only a debut novel, I can't wait to read the rest of her stories. I feel like she's going to be one to look out for in the future.

This story is more than just about Rockers

I really enjoyed this story. Poor Addy has alot of emotional baggage keeping her from truly trusting her dad, Billy and Warren, the man she loves that also happens to be the lead singer of her Dad's opening act. Of course Dad doesn't know how much in love they really are. Lots of drama. Lots of love. Lots of great characters. Can't to start the next book.

Addison Wanks has seen more heartache in her young formative years that most adults see in a lifetime, and that hindered her a bit. Now she's on tour with her famous father, and his band, Wanks and Janks, but in those close quarters, she has to grow up too quickly. As a young adult, she's become awesome at keeping secrets, which have impacted her life in crazy ways. She was supposed to be off to college when she ran off to join Wild Minds on their European tour, but things didn't go so well. Especially since she decided that the sexy lead singer, Warren Price, is a giant douche. She manages to avoid him for four years, until her father's farewell tour. And he has no intention of being ignored, not to mention, he refuses to grant her a divorce. Oh HOLY HELL! Good Lies was an EPIC DEBUT from the very talented Charlotte West, and I couldn't get enough! She took such a popular topic of rock stars, and made it so highly original, that no one will ever be able to duplicate it. Plus, I was instantly captivated from the get go, and wanted to cry when the last page was revealed, as I needed more like I need comfort food. One thing that amazed me, is how she described the experience of touring with both bands, and it came off realistic in my opinion. Addison had me very anxious, as while I loved her, some of her questionable decisions made me crazy. And Warren, oh Warren, that sexy beast that I couldn't get enough of, and it made my day that he was willing to give up any fame and fortune that they achieved for her. Of course I must not forget such a colorful cast of secondaries that absolutely need their own stories, (hint hint) as they were just a captivating. Now that I have been fan girl gushing so much, I will leave you with this, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND everyone read this amazing new author, with her epic rock star story ASAP!

Good Lies (Wild Minds #1) by Charlotte West is a standalone second chance bad boy star romance.

The book opens up with 3 year old Addison sitting in her mothers rundown apartment speaking with officers after her mother's overdose. Addison is holding picture of her father Billy Wanks, member of Wanks and Janks, while none of the officers believe her dad could be famous rock star it is later confirmed he is. Billy was a 22 year rockstar who decided to take Addison with him and raises her, she lives the rockstar life with the band. One night when she is 17 Addison deciedes to try alcohol for the first time and meets Warren Price a 19 year old lead singer of Wilder Minds. Wilder Minds is the opening act for Wanks and Janks, Billy catches Warren and Addsion in a comprising position Billy send Addison away for the summer and Wilder Minds is kicked off the tour. A year later Warren starts texting Addison again and there relationship forms. Warren and Addison eloped in Greece and when something happens she takes off and tries to divorce Warren who refuses.

Warren is a possessive husband who has no problem showing his claim on Addison. Addison want so much for Billy to be proud of her and is afraid of abandonment. Addison knows Billy's golden rule was "never to date a rockstar". The book heats up when Warren and Addison reunite when she goes on tour for a while with Billy for Wanks and Janks farewell tour with Wilder Minds is co-heading. The chemistry between Addison and Warren was steamy and possessive. This was not your normal rockstar romance as Warren was not a playboy and he truly loves Addison.

If your wondering if Addison and Warren stay married? Does Billy find out about the marriage? What happened to split Warren and Addison up?

This was my first book by the author, want drew me in was the cover I went into the book with out knowing to much. The author did a good job of delivering the story line, the scenes where well written. I will be reading more from the author and look forward to the reading more about the secondary character. The author did a good job of having the reader intrigued of the secondary characters who will later have there own story.

I recommend reading the book it was second chance romance that delivered steam and with emotional pulls at the heart.

3.5 ROCK 'N' ROLL STARS!

Good Lies is a funny and steamy romance, with a sprinkle of drama. It's so entertaining that I read it in one sitting!
There are some aspect of the story that are a bit unrealistic and the heroine is sometimes annoying, but this book has everything you need if you're looking for a smutty, lighthearted and amusing story. It will definitely make you smile and lighten up your mood!
Charlotte West did an amazing job on her debut novel and I cannot wait for Ash and Lily's story!

As soon as they met, Addison Wanks, rock'n'roll's favorite daughter, and Warren Price, a rising rock star, felt a connection. Although her father tried to keep them apart, when they meet again, it's explosive and Addison decides to follow Warren and the Wild Minds on their European tour. Addison and Warren fall deeply in love and end up getting married. But a misunderstanding makes Addison leave Warren and return to the US.
Fast forward four years, Addison and Warren are meeting again. She wants him to sign their divorce papers. He wants his wife back. Will Warren win Addison back? Or will he sign the divorce papers?

I loved Good Lies! The story took me in a rollercoaster ride of emotions and I couldn't stop reading. I laughed and cried a lot! All the drama and secrets hooked me from the first page and the banter between Addison and Warren was hilarious. The chemistry between them is off the charts!
I loved all the flashbacks showing how Addy and War's relationship developed.

Addison Wanks is the daughter of Billy Wanks, a rock god. She was raised by him, his band and a whole lot of tutors and nannies. She is very sweet and kind, but also very strong and independent. She's afraid of what will happen when her father finds out about her relationship with Warren, so she keeps it a secret.
Warren Price loves Addison and wants the world to know it. He's rock'n'roll's bad boy but he only wants Addy, his wife. He's very possessive and protective of her, but also very sweet and gentle. I loved how he always fought for their relationship.

This was my first book by Charlotte West and she didn't disappoint! Good Lies is an intense book, with lots of drama, secrets, laughter and sexy scenes. The characters are amazing and it's really easy to connect with them. I can't wait to read more about the Wild Minds!

I really loved this book. Charlotte West knocked it out of the park with her debut. Addy is a fantastic heroine, a perfectly portrayed 22 year old trying to be independent, yet want to please her daddy. Warren is sexy and sweet. Loved his physical presence in the story, his mannerisms depicted so that he jumped off the page. Billy is the quintessential rocker, but a lovable, flawed Dad that gives this book his depth. There are fantastic secondary characters that I can't wait to read about. Loved this!!

4.5 stars. I received this book in exchange for honest feedback.

What a fantastic debut by Charlotte West and it sort of reminded me that I enjoy reading books about rock stars. Somewhere along the way, I stopped reading this trope and can’t really remember why.

Addy is forced to face her past and all her secrets when she joins her father on tour and her husband. Yep. Husband. Addy’s infatuation with rock star Warren. But her infatuation not only led to a secret love affair but it also ended in a secret marriage.

I loved the chemistry between Addy and Warren and was chomping at the bit to know just what caused the riff in their relationship four years prior. A fantastic, emotional romance that was a full blown second chance romance. I was so invested in these two making it, there was such chemistry and I loved that it wasn’t just their story – but the way their relationship impacted those around the couple. I am excited to go along for the ride with the rest of this series!

Good Lies is a second chance, rocker romance. I loved the story of Addison and Warren, there was just many levels to it. But the romance between these two isn't the main story of this novel. This is also the story of a girl and her dad, who also happens to be a rock star.

Addison has quickly become a favorite character of mine. She has gone though so many things in her short life. From losing her mother, being tossed in with her dad the rock star to trying to get herself out of a marriage that she thinks should have never happened. I loved how the story gave lots of background of Addy and her dad. It think it really help build her character for us readers. Then Warren gets thrown into the mix. She takes off for a secret year with him and we do not find out all that happens until much later in the story. Warren knows what he wants and will not take no from Addy. He is an arrogant, possessive and loves Addy passionately. He will stop at nothing to convince her that they do not need to get a divorce.

This a light second chance story with a few secrets that are begging to be let out. I enjoyed every second of this novel. Once I started I just couldn't put it down, I became immersed into the world of Wanks and Janks and Wild Minds. I can not wait to read about the rest of the wild rock stars and their road to love.

Addison Wanks is the daughter of rock and roll star, lost her mother at the age of 4 and had never met her Father, that is solved as the Officer that finds her does get in touch with her Father and he comes to the rescue.
Addison is a young teen and now also responsible for a long standing feud between her Fathers band Wanks and Janks and the younger band Wild Minds.
Several things change for her when her Father sends her to live with the Officer who found her, and Addison does manage to get into some interesting situations.
Addy is in love with Warren but things do not go just the way they should and now she has to deal with the fact that her Father wants her to join him on his farewell tour and low and behold Wild Minds are touring with him.
How will things work out for her, will all her secrets surface, will she find that she and Warren will after all be together, read the book to find out, not a bad story.

I received a free copy for my honest review!

3 1/2 Stars.......Not your typical rocker romance.
Warren, I considered him a reserved alpha and Addison, she has some......daddy issues. Billy, her father has his idea and rules in place for her life and of course, she has her own but fears disappointing and not being needed by him

Addison and Warren's relationship is not one-sided despite all the roadblocks Addison puts up. Plus it doesn't help that her rocker father and rocker husband don't get along. So, there is family drama, lies, omissions, and misunderstandings.

It's a light read with light drama and just enough romance to get you thru...... but if you are needing the hot and dirty stuff look someplace else. This book is well written and all the characters are likable. I was quickly wrapped up in the story and I found it to be a refreshing read.

Rock star romances tick all the boxes for me, add in two generations of excellent characters and it's a sure fire winner.

Addy has been making her way in the world on her own until her past comes back and bites her on the bum. The one big secret she is harbouring is going to send her rock god father Billy into a spin.

Loved this fun story, can't wait to read more from this author.

It was pretty great. Read this in one sitting ( very short).
I love the tension between Addy and Warren.
But the plot was too unbelievable.
Also didnt like all the lies. The ending was rushed.

Still, I can;t wait for the second book.
