What happens when the one person you’re too humiliated to face is the only one who can restore your dignity?

Thomas knows he is a looker but it doesn’t make it any easier to deal with the hungry leering and the constant inappropriate touching from the men at the gay bar he is forced to work at after his football career ended.

As an omega he knows he will eventually have to mate but the alpha he thought he was destined to be with ran off overseas with the Navy SEALs and took Thomas’s heart with him.The last night they saw each other Thomas lost his best friend and his dignity and the past five years without him have been miserable…

Serving in Afghanistan scarred Andrew in every sense of the word. After a career ending injury leaves him permanently disfigured and emotionally wounded he is convinced that he will be a lone wolf for the rest of his life.

Even though it’s been five years since they last spoke he can’t stop thinking about how he wished things had ended differently with Thomas…actually he wished things had never ended in the first place. He knows he will never forgive himself for hurting the only person who was ever kind and gentle enough to love him in the way he needed…

Until one fated night their paths cross again when they least expect it…

But it’s under the worst of circumstances!

Is their love for each other strong enough to heal the wounds of the past and overcome the trouble that threatens their future?

Omega in Heat is a standlone gay shifter mpreg short story with several bonus books. All with HEA and no cliff hanger. Due to explicit content this story is intended for mature audiences.

Short story of life-long friends-to-lovers reunited, with an unsatisfying ending;
Very little about shifters and basically nothing about an Omega in Heat

The theme of this story is definitely not "Omega in Heat," but the first 80% is much more of a simple story of regret over parting with a life-long friend who was really a true love.

I found this story in an anthology of short and simple romantic stories, each with a bit of an explicit, happy ending after a brief, fairy-tale like character/reltionship/story set-up. None of the others were particularly enticing, but satisfactory as quick and light little stories with just a touch of sizzle.

This story started out perhaps stronger than the others. Two injured characters who were life long friends but who lost each other when tempted but failing to take the step from friends to lovers. However, despite the relatively intriguing build-up to and set-up for a dramatic encounter, the ending fell very flat to me. The sizzle was minimal, the reconnecting/rescue to HEA received a few pages of exploration, but not nearly as compelling as the introduction.

The shifter, omega, and mpreg aspects seemed to be grafted onto a story more than being an integral part of it.

3 stars for the characters and set-up covered in the first 80%
2 stars for the ending
0 stars for how little this had to do with shifters

1.5 stars rounded down for it having nothing to do with an "Omega in Heat" (except for a bit tacked on at the end)

My review pertains to the first/main story; no other bonus material was read. This book had some pluses, including writing that conveyed the characters' emotions really well. I also liked the way that the author starts us off with each character's typical day and an overall picture of their life. Unfortunately, once we get to the best part of the story, everything fast forwards. What could have been a solid, longer novella or even developed easily into a book, instead turns out to be little more than a short story. The term "mpreg" only barely applies, so that was disappointing. The worst problem, though, was the complete lack of editing. Almost everywhere that the word "quiet" was intended, the author used "quite". I am a total failure at punctuation, but even I noticed the glaring omissions in terms of commas and the run-on sentences. I think this author is new and would advise him/her to work towards quality and depth on one narrative rather than a bundle of poorly edited ones. The talent is there. It just needs to be refined and edited.

Just no

I'm not going to comment on how there was no character development or depth to the stories. That's right, I said stories. This book is full of them... lots of short stories. None of which seemed to be proof read. Well I can't say for sure about all as I barely made it throughout the first one. I did try the last story, but ended up forwarding to the end so Goodreads will mark it as 'Read' on my bookshelf. That way I won't mistakenly go back and read some more.

Hot

I thought it was really good. I love books with multiple stories. Every story inside was very intense and had more of a storyline than just gay/gay. I loved it.

Not much gay

If you start out with a gay story and follow it up with story after story with female leading characters, you do not have a gay book.
