An epic fantasy novel by multi-genre author Tristan Vick. If you enjoy the Shannara Chronicles by Terry Brooks, you'll love Valandra!
The Twelve Kingdoms of Valandra are under threat.
It has been thirty years since The Great War which left the realms of Valandra fractured and broken. Now, an ancient evil has awakened and the wraith knight Ashram has risen from the ashes to lead an army of the dead against the faltering realms.
Arianna De Amato witnessed her master's death at the hands of the diabolical Ashram. Acquiring the mystical sword, The Moon Blade, she gains the unique ability to guide and control the wind. Seeking revenge, Arianna hunts down those responsible for her master's death including who, or whatever, is responsible for resurrecting Ashram from the afterlife. But she can't do it alone. Enlisting the aid of her apprentice, Lisette Durante, in addition to a debonair thief named Leif Ericson, and a Dark Elf named Alegra Lockwiel, she embarks upon a harrowing quest which will test the limits of their friendship. But even with the help of her new friends, it still may not be enough to defeat Ashram and his army of the dead.
Valandra is Tristan Vick's first foray into the realm of monsters and magic! Valandra is an epic fantasy story that contains the use of magic, a lesbian protagonist, mixed human and elf relations, and magitek Juggernaut automatons made of living armor which run on mystic dragon's eye crystals.
In elementary school, Tristan Vick once wrote about an alien which came to earth and ate his all of his classmates. His teacher made him tear it up and write a *different more egalitarian story. Apparently, being the sole survivor of the alien attack wasn't egalitarian enough. Now he writes horror, post-apocalytpic, survival, sci-fi, western, erotica, thriller, romance novels and he's not afraid of mixing his genres either.
Tristan Vick is the Author of the zombie/survival/horror series BITTEN: RESURRECTION published by Winlock Press, and exciting new imprint of Permuted Press.
He is also the author of The Scarecrow & Lady Kingston: Rough Justice, also through Winlock Press, which follows the story of a magical scarecrow that joins the LAPD.
This year (2016) Tristan Vick will release three exciting science fiction novels through his self-owned publishing imprint Regolith Publictions, including Robotica: Ultra Heavy, a cyber punk novel, Exoverse: Invasion of the Draugr, a dark sci-fi horror with ancient astronaut and alien conspiracies, and Little Red Gauntlet, a steam punk fairy tale re-telling of the beloved Little Red Riding Hood fable.
Tristan Vick graduated from Montana State University with degrees in English Literature and Asian Cultural Studies. He speaks fluent Japanese and lives with his wife and kids in Japan. When he's not commuting on the train or teaching English, he spends his time reading, writing, blogging, and eating sara udon.

DNF - I just could not get into this book. I tried to keep going maybe 3 times but it just wasn't for me. It seemed very juvenile, but I'm not sure if that's the right word. I read a good amount of YA but this one did not hook me in any way.
What a great start to a new fantasy series. I loved it. The writing was good and quite a few scenes made me laugh. And a few others made me just shake my head and say "men, always trying to look good for the girls". It is the story of Arianna who is aked to go pick up a young lady in a neighboring town who ends up going on a quest to seek revenge for her sword master's death and save her kingdom at the same time. Arianna ends up traveling with her new friends she meets along the way and saving others along the way. Like a good fantasy novel, it has a bit of mystery, a quest, and humor. Who really is pulling all the strings and setting up everyone to restart a war. I plan on reading book to as I want to see what happens next.
I am always happy to try a new author I come across on Amazon. I was so glad to have downloaded this one! I enjoyed the world he has created as well as the cast of characters. His thread of humor is nicely woven throughout his swashbuckling story telling. He has me hooked for sure. I have eagerly downloaded then next in the series. Thank you for sharing this story with us readers!
An interesting fantasy story that started out slow for me , but definitely picked. Enjoyed it and looking forward to the next one. New author and happy to help by reviewing.
I am normally up for a lesbian themed fantasy, but this just niggled at me. There were a lot of editing mistakes (For example, how would we know that the characters would be able to understand what "gothic" anything is). Those types narration errors don't make the world feel immersive to me. I love me a good sex scene (especially between ladies, as I am a lover of ladies), but they read more like "let's make two hot chicks do it" more than anything. The characters aren't that memorable and at times extremely annoying.
I was disappointed. With so few lesbian fantasies out there, we can demand more of authors. There are two more books in the series, and I won't be picking them up.
DNF. I'll be honest and admit that I did not get past the first chapter of this book. Writing is very simple. There was way too much telling and not enough describing. Everything was I this and I that. In one paragraph with the main character, "I stand, I notice, I look, I can't help, I ask". There is no eloquence of word in this writing. I enjoy fantasy writing, but can read just about anything if it is written well. This Book needs much more development. And the writer needs to spend more time honing his skills.
Don't know whether this book is one labelled young adult fantasy but its full of sexual innuendo when its really not necessary to the plot, also the plot is very simplified and going round in circles with nothing much really happening, i am afraid i was very disappointed with this book and could not be bothered to read more than 50% of it! The sexist comments by dirty minded guys and the women on women sex obviously written by a man are not tasteful at all!! not my type of fantasy read at all!!
Sigh should have listened to my first instinct but i figured for .99 i would give it a shot. And my first instinct was correct its bad really bad at least it was just a dollar
