This was the first book by Laura Fletcher that I have read, and it actually reads like it just may be her very first book to publish. Once I got past the fact that it is written in a style that I am really not a fan of, I did see that there is some potential in the storyline.

Sandra leaves home to become a mail-order bride for an older divorced father named Samuel. Her job includes taking care of his sick daughter, Betsy. Other than Sandra leaving to tie up some loose ends with her father and some personal issues with Samuel, there's not that much outside drama for these characters, which leaves for some much-needed character development. At times the dialogue felt forced and was repetitive between Sandra and Samuel. Just because Miss Hopeful wasn't my cup of tea doesn't mean another reader might not enjoy it.

While the story has a great deal of potential and the editing was good, the characters need a lot more depth.Issues arose and without much conflict were resolved. Things jumped around a bit as well. I don't plan to read the next book in the series. Happy reading!
