This is the second book in a series. It can be read as a standalone, though there is a summary of events that occurred in book 1, so it does give some spoilers.
I was pretty disappointed by this book. I knew going in it was short, but I have read short stories that have been very satisfying. I knew going in it that one character was Fae and the other was a Greek god, which can be hit or miss for me. And this was definitely a miss for me. When I read about these kind of fantasy characters, world-building is something I expect. First, there is not much world-building other than some info download in the first chapter. And when I then read about them using showers and hair dryers, I feel cheated in a way. Why give us Fae/Greek god characters when the setting feels like it could’ve been in anywhere USA?
Yves is the second son of the Fire Kingdom. He is a Fae, and they feel the mating call after “coming out” in their 100th year. A fated pair feels the mating bond on first sight. Yves has always felt restless, but when he meets the Greek god Apollo, he realizes what he has been missing his whole life. However, he is not at his 100th year yet. The story is convoluted and the dialogue felt stilted. It just wasn't a win for me but I have heard good things about this author and would love to give another book a try, but maybe not from this same series.
