From my point of view this is not to be called a book. It's more like combined articles or blog posts. The style of writing is very shallow and the information is very basic and already known for most of us. Unless you're a complete beginner in the self development path you won't gain anything new. For me it was a reminder of information I already know, it was not a quick reminder though. I was bored most of the time reading it as it is 236 pages, but to develop my patience skill I decided to finish it. I liked many quotes which were written in the beginning of the chapters though.
I really liked this book, it covers the basic fields of your life where you have to work in order to achieve success and with practical and simple habits. Explained in a very understandable way. Recommended to anyone looking for ideas to organize their life.
Books like this (of motivation, self-improvement) have become a common staple of reading for me. They have become a part of life, similar to breathing but in words. However the similarities don’t stop there. Like breathing the books are almost imperceptible. It’s mindless reading (for me) because there are so many books that I’ve imbibed with the same message. And I mean the same exact message. But is it all bad? Not at all. The mind, at least mine, cannot remember things by glancing at them once. I MUST be reminded multiple times for it to stick. Here, in Million Dollar Habits, I get that reminder of top lessons covered in my other readings for self-development/improvement. Some of the things covered are affirmations (and how to construct them in the present tense), the habit loop by Charles Duhigg (The Power of Habit Book), anger management, gratitude, growth experience, overcoming obstacles, visualization, attitude, physical appearance, posture, and much more. As for the 27 habits, I don’t know how the number adds up over the span of the book. The habits are formed and introduced, but the numbers are misaligned somehow in the matter that we don’t really know if there are truly 27 that are covered. For example, he would start a chapter speaking about Gratitude, move one to controlling anger by forgiving, and in that you should be counting two habits with in the same chapter. It’s weird if you are not taking notes or highlighting to keep track. Therefore, I drop 1 star for disorganization. A book, if anything, should always be organized for the reader. Another point is dropped for not highlighting everything at the end of the book so that the reader could grab a quick glance of all the habits and why they should be performed for that Millionaire achievement. This is a common act within this genre, to highlight everything once more in two to three pages. I guess the editor didn’t say anything, but should have. It cost 1 star for me. Three (3) stars is not bad. I’ll even say 3.6. I recommend if this is not your typical grab. If you venture in this route often, please save your money and try learning something that you haven’t before. Like the book titled Flow or something with more science background, such as focusing. Those books more often have greater impact in your life for self-improvement. These types of books are more motivational than anything, but motivation can only take you so far. And motivation itself is not readily available. It kind of strikes whenever the hell it wants. Anyway, final verdict: pick it up. I enjoyed it, but you might not if you have read too many of these. It’s up to you.
You know those articles you see online: "10 habits of millionaires", "20 things to do improve your life", etc. This book is basically that, with multi-page long details instead of a paragraph for each habit.
That's not to say that it's bad. If someone has read relatively few of these types of books, this could be a useful starting point. But 1) it doesn't go as deep as other books would and 2) there aren't really any insights here.
The book goes through the normal stuff you hear: have a positive attitude, meditate, focus, forgive, practice gratitude, try new things, have good relationships, set goals, be flexible, don't give up, etc. Again, nothing new.
Each habit is explained in a few pages, with a brief explanation of the why and the how. It's a framework -- a skeleton missing most of the meat and other details.
I don't think reading this book will change anyone's life, but it may serve as a collection of habits that one can delve into more detail by reading books specific to that habit.
I will say, the one insight that did pop out, though I've heard variants of it before, was the two minute rule, where you take a seemingly difficult task and work on it for two minutes, then trick yourself working an additional two minutes until you accomplish a good chunk of it. Like I said, it's not so much a novel concept, but the "two minutes" is a neat trick to get you to just start something and use that momentum to continue. It's something I may use on my daughter to clean her room (perhaps myself too for some work tasks...)
Million Dollar Habits offers a concise, accessible guide to rewiring your mindset for success, happiness, and financial freedom. Stellan Moreira lays out 27 habits—ranging from habit-tracking and meditation to affirmations, gratitude, and stress management—that build a foundation for personal transformation. Moreira’s strengths lie in clarity and positivity. He emphasises self-awareness as the first step in growth, encouraging reflection through journaling and meditation to uncover personal drivers and emotional patterns. His approach to mindset is straightforward: dismantle limiting beliefs, rehearse empowering ones, and take incremental action. The “two‑minute rule” technique—doing a task for just two minutes to overcome inertia—is a particularly useful insight. Where the book shines in motivation and practical habits, it lacks depth in original analysis. Much of its content resembles generic self‑help advice—positive thinking, goal-setting, and gratitude—that can feel repetitive or superficial. Content warnings: - Mentions of emotional distress, anxiety and self doubt - Discussions of stress, inner criticism and limiting beliefs - Religious language around belief and forgiveness - Potential triggering about goal oriented pressure and low self esteem
Same old tired advice, different book. "Fake smile your way to a million dollars"
I'm not sure if everyone copies this book or if this book copies everyone else, but if you want the same vague advice that people give, here's your book. Toxic Positivity 101, right here. I've heard every single thing in this book during customer service training.
If I were you, I'd just read the quotes at the beginning of each chapter. The author just re-hashes them for a few pages with no real explanation.
The book is also poorly edited in a distracting way.
There are a few nuggets of decent advice in this book. However, I would encourage you to spend maybe 30 minutes on business TikTok and you'll have all of it plus some. Not worth spending time to read this book.
It felt cheesy in the sense that it was repetitive and had the talk track of “just trust me and do this!!!”.
For a book about becoming a millionaire and being unstoppable, there were also a lot of spelling and grammar errors that bothered me more than they should hahaha
Overall, I liked the last few chapters the best out of the whole book
Everything in here could've been said in fewer words and was better suited for a blog. The author plugged his new book in the first chapter. He presented nothing new that countless other blogs haven't already done so.
It repeats the same old things about how you should be confident and have a positive attitude etc. Nothing more than that. If you havent read any self help before you could start with this. It is a basic self help book and basic writing.
Self help books in proper sequences and steps to be successful and happy. I love the concept of giving reference with quotes from famous identities. motivating
Things I need to remember: 1- talk to yourself and assure it. 2- gratitude lists. 3- meditate. 4- Positivity helps. 5- Don’t be too harsh on yourself. 6- Connect to nature. 7- Relax. 8- Break cycles. 9- Self-care. 10- finally, be kind to others.
The writing is very shallow and doesn’t dive deep into topics. Its more of a blog or an article than a book. Would be good for new readers looking for an easy read to get them started on the path. Other than that, wouldnt really recommend.
Author has made great attempt at explaining how to lead in life and live peacefully. Out of these 27 habits, i am hoping to tick out atleast 16 this coming year as a resolution! :-P
This was a pretty simple and easy to book covering all habits that can make one successful in life. There are plenty of similar books if you read self help books. It was a quick and easy read and was enjoyable.
