The story of a Duke who falls in love with a maid working in his castle. But truly she is a daughter of a Marquis who when he learned his wife had born a girl traded her for a boy born to a coal minor working for the Duke. They marry but not before she is kidnapped by a wicked Earl who claims to be her guardian.

Absolutely brilliant series
The book was okay but very predictable story between Abigail and the Duke!
The best bit of the book was when the Duke rescued Abigail from the Earl, killed the Earl and then asked Abigail to marry him!
The best bit of the book is that Abigail is pregnant. I thought the siege by Lord Aldrich was very predictable but I am so glad Abigail's baby went unharmed but it was so sad about Pip's father - I love Pip he is my favourite character!
The worst part was when the young boy Will Turner was killed but the best bits were when they all got to go home back to Northumberland Castle and Elizabeth was born - such a great end to the book!

Nice read
Just the right amount of suspense and easy read. Draws a good picture in your mind. It keeps you reading.
