Turning Tables

Rate this book
Jericho Tehrani is a veteran law enforcement officer who’s recently been appointed by California Attorney General Midnight Chevalier as the new Director of the Division of Law Enforcement. With the appointment comes a move to Los Angeles and the decision by her wife of ten years to leave her. While dealing with that particular shock, Jericho meets Zoey Cabott, a graduate student doing a paper on Women in Law Enforcement. Zoey is bowled over by the dark haired, blue eyes enigma that is the new Director of the chief law enforcement agency in the state.
When female agents with the Department start dying, Jericho turns to Catalina Roche′, an undercover narcotics officer from San Diego highly recommended by Midnight Chevalier. Catalina has to work against the clock to figure out who is killing female agents and why. Is it case related, or does it have to do with Jericho Tehrani herself? It’s a race against time to catch the killer, before he gets to his ultimate target.

I love this series! I haven't met a character yet that I don't like. I especially like that the characters from previous books in the series are in peripheral roles in the later ones. As with Hancock's previous books, there are issues with words left out, misspellings, and incorrect verb tense. This one is better to some degree but there are still quite a few errors. I realize this book is $2.99 and that's a hell of a deal, but I still wish it were better edited. Send it to me and I'll proofread it! I can't write worth a damn, but I am a grammar ninja. Wait. Hang on. I need to check this review for errors.

Focus, focus, focus! Characters galore. I like the merging of characters from previous reads in the series. Makes for quite a few characters but also keeps the story and series interesting and fresh. I really enjoyed that there was more than one romance in this read. Being a fan of Adele, I like the connection to the song. Jericho Tehrani, strong and family oriented. Zoey Cabott, uncertain yet intrigued with the happenings. Catalina, what an interesting and well written character. I was pulled in by her desire to help others while trying to help herself. Jovina, appears honest and authentic while working through her interest in Catalina and processing her thoughts about the danger in the work Catalina does. Gallantry is a foundation of the read with the butch/femme dynamics which I found interesting and humerous.

This book is very particular. It basically has two main stories and four main characters. In addition to that former MCs from this series are mentioned and many other characters that I’ve never heard about and not enough the MCs have their own past (romantically speaking) with several women, so yeah... it’s a lot.

Another element common with the previous books, the rejection of being loved. Oh, dear Lord.

Something that is very tricky for me, at least in this book, is that both MCs are in love with other people. So, when Jericho wanted to start a relationship with Zooey (again) too much, it was way too close when she had really been dumped. And regarding Cat, she was already committed to Jovi and was answering questions to her ex like this: “We got here… because you can’t seem to commit to me fully” with a sad expression. Present tense.

Details. Cat didn’t treat Jovi in a good way, and I was kind of mad because after a few words Jovi would forget or just not say anything. Jericho meddled and told Jovi “Don’t let her treat you bad, because you teach people how to treat you”. Wise words. But most of all, I was affected by how Cat acted so for the author to acknowledge that was great. So later in the book when Cat acknowledged how she has not only treated but assured Jovi, is nice.

Okay... your parents listening to you do the deed, HECK NO!!!

There are several things that don’t work for me but for some reason I enjoy this series too much.

Sooo many characters brought into this at once, (not to mention when they we're given 'nick names') got slightly confusing at some points but i really like how she brings characters in from previous WeHo books. The story was good, and the characters are likable (apart from Catalina, she pissed me off and got on my tits,) and believable.

Another wow

This book was so full of many characters and their girlfriends and their ex-girlfriends I wasn't sure if I would be able to keep them straight. I really liked how each character had to over come their own problems...but came together to help each other. There was one small thing that bothered me and was when you would go from one character to another one. Maybe doing a ***** in between the the characters. I definitely recommend this book.

Great story

I really loved the dual romances that we followed as well as seeing characters from the previous books. I love the mix of mystery, crime and lesbians!

Got introduced to a lot of people, side stories told in a couple of paragraphs, was a too many people to get to know too fast. The storyline was ok but weaving between 3 major CA cities is confusing.

It couldn't be better!

When a Task Force is needed, some of the "badass" women from the previous books provide active support. And wow, the actions were very exciting! The investigations, the danger, the intrigue and the complicated relationships between lovers are all well presented. The story grabs you from the beginning to the end. Again, well done!

There was a lot of excitement this time, it was a lot fun too with a touch of sadness. And the sex scene department is upping its game!! uuuuuuh, we're not going direct to FTB no more. Spicing!

This is was my favourite so far, I love the "calm" the others gave me, but it a nice change of pace adding some thrill to it. And even though there was a lot of characters thrown at us from other series, I didn't care enough for them to find it bothersome. So I focused on the people from this series et voilà, very enjoyable reading.

But Jesus, Mary and Joseph, the people keep throwing ily like they're candy and we're at a kids party. So after what? 2 weeks? 3 weeks? I think last book was similar, these folks don't slack around... I mean, there's no minimum time for it and when reading it does happen very late in the books percentage, but it does feel a bit sudden, ya know? because we're also focusing on the thrilling part of it, so I think as a reader I don't have much time to see what the characters may see when we're not there watching.

One could think Jericho moved so fast, I'd say sometimes a relationship is dead long before its breaking and people don't realise until is too late. So that bit didn't feel wrong at all. But boy, that wife of hers... I wish I could go in and slap some sense on her, and by slapping I mean to do it with my fist. #noviolence hahah

Okay, so I wasn't going to comment on the pt-br bit because I'm always grateful by the effort and it's usually something punctual, but this time I think it could be worked a bit, there are a couple of literal translations that one wouldn't catch a Brazilian dead saying them. DM me and I can help with it. Anyway, another editing and this story would be phenomenal.

Big Cringe!

I had to literally walk away from the book a few times. I’m glad I read the books out of order so I know the series gets better but the book is giving boomer energy.
Some of my peeves- the weird almost 4th wall breaks with the author giving dated explanations and stereotypes that didn’t quite flow.
-Not capitalizing races and based on these books there are no Black people in CA.
-Cringe like “she’s not terribly dark” or “ghetto personality” is a no for me. Visions from the only American Indigenous character, also a nope.
The GOOD- reading the books in order you get more detailed love scenes and the story line was good enough where I wanted to know how it ended although I skimmed the last couple of chapters.
The book is fine but I should’ve and honestly could’ve just skipped it after the first annoyance. Do what you want with this info.

Another good story

I am working my way through this series and have been happy with all the books thus far. My only small problem with this book is the introduction of an overwhelming number of characters in the beginning. It took me until half way through the book before I felt comfortable with who matched up with who. Also, and this could easily be a personal preference, I would like to see a bit more distinction when moving between characters and scenes. Even something as simple as **** to signify we are somewhere else would be helpful. I didn't detract stars for these because the number of characters introduced and transitions are personal preferences and the story was overall fantastic! I'm moving on to the next in the series now!

Wow! This was exciting. Someone was simultaneously targeting Director Tehrani's female agents, the director's wife left her after 10 years of marriage with no reason, and Catalina Roche settles down. Within all of this, the bois are hilarious in their antics at the gym and there's a love interest hiding in plain sight for Director Tehrani. An exciting read. I couldn't figure it out at all. Tense until the end. It was good to meet the women from earlier books in the series. It's addictive reading. Again, I couldn't put it down and didn't put it down until finished.

Love and trust

This book is about love and trust and how things in the past can affect us in the present. The characters are a continuation of the other two series in the books plus adding new characters such as Jericho, Zoe, cat, and others. The store revolves around Jericho and how her narcotics agents being killed by an unknown person. The platter is very good and the romance and the drama is always good. You can see how the weaknesses and strengths of all the characters make for a very good story. I recommend this book for all who like romance and criminals.

Truly enjoying the series, hate that Jericho had to lose her wife to find the true meaning of happiness a mist tragedy. Cultural differences and belief's are very strong and make many act/do un-speakable things. Love of friends and family are the strongest of emotions that allow us to preserver in the darkest of times and can't thank the author for incorporating the characters of the other books to show support of STRONG female ensamble. Looking forward to continue reading the series.

Jericho and Zoey as well as Jovina and Catalina

Sherryl Hancock writes wonderful stories of butch\femme women pairings. They are strong, independent and loyal. Each couple have amazing chemistry and each butch is devoted to their partners. From soft butch to full butch they are fiercely dedicated, gallant women. Femmes are amazing on their own and create a wonderful dynamic between the couples. I have read this series several times and will continue to do so.

Needs improvement

Nice story line with believable characters. Beginning was confusing, rushed. Multiple characters at once, at times was difficult to remember who was who. So far for the series, book 3 was so full of errors that it was beyond comical; did anyone bother editing this book. Correcting the errors alone would make this book much more enjoyable.

Another great book in the series

I really love this series. What’s not to love, strong, hot female role models. The look out for each other, they always have each other’s backs. I also love the way there is always music links to be found, and yes I always go and look for them and look at the lyrics.

Friends

Starts out with everyone sorta breaking up or in not good relationships but as time goes forward we see each person grow and change. Jericho is the main character for book and zoey, cat, jovina, midnight, kana and many others in blue will captivate you. Read and enjoy as the high stakes to catch a killer proceeds.😊

Great Book!

Loved the hot tough lesbians who are all in law enforcement. Author gives lots of background information on the women’s relationships and their dedication to keeping each other safe when a killer targets them. Couldn’t stop reading until the end. Now I am missing all the great hot women.

Awesome

This is the fourth book in the We-Ho series that I have read. Although the books all have separate storylines, they all intersect with each other with the characters etc. I'm really enjoying all of these books immensely.

I love this series! Hancock creates characters that you want to hang out with and it keeps you wanting more. As more and more characters are introduced and previous ones are included in the stories it is like the "L" Word of blue collar. Of course there is no annoying Jenny though.

I loved the new characters, their actions ring true to life. The storyline keeps you from becoming smothered in just romance, but you may feel the heart strings being pulled.

Fabulous book

I love this series so far on how the author blends the other characters into this book. I love how everyone met and were always their for each other. I also like how the author talks about making love but doesn't get graffic about it.
