A simple, beautiful guide to the keto lifestyle for anyone who’s ever felt stuck or incapable of losing weight (and even those who haven’t).
The ketogenic diet, a low-carb, high-fat way of eating, is remarkably effective at transforming people’s lives, helping them shed pounds and find relief from common health conditions such as diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, depression, autoimmune diseases, and high blood pressure. No one knows this better than bestselling author Suzanne Ryan. In her quest to overcome her lifelong struggle with her weight, she stumbled upon the ketogenic diet and decided to give it a shot. In just one year, she lost more than 100 pounds and reclaimed control over her health and well-being.
Suzanne’s first book, Simply Keto , isn’t just a cookbook; it’s a portal into her life and dieting success. It makes you feel like you have a guide who really understands what you’re going through on your keto journey, and her aim is to help you get started without feeling overwhelmed or intimidated. She’s honest and transparent about the details of her transformation—how she accomplished the incredible feat of losing almost 40 percent of her total body weight and developed a healthier and more balanced relationship with food, and how you can, too.
In this book, Suzanne shares everything you need to know to get started and find your own success. You’ll find
• helpful advice for starting keto • grocery shopping tips • keto and weight loss FAQs • more than 100 easy recipes • a structured 30-day meal plan • guidance for living and thriving with the ketogenic lifestyle
On a whim I picked this book up at Costco and thought hmmm, I think I'm going to give this Keto lifestyle a try. I have been following this plan for six days now and I am thoroughly impressed with my progress so far and how helpful this book is.
I have tried many of the recipes in this book and I am very pleased with how easy they are to prepare and make. They have all been delicious and a big hit with my family too.
I found the book to be very informative, simple to follow and understand!
If you would like to send me some encouraging thoughts, follow my progress or let me know how you are doing on this diet.....you can do so on our Two Sisters Lost in a Coulee Reading book blog: https://twosisterslostinacoulee.com/c...
Best by far of all the keto cookbooks I’ve checked out in the past week. Most approachable and none of the holier than thou attitude I got from many of the other cookbooks in this niche.
I don’t usually like cookbooks, but this one had recipes I could actually follow. Her explanation of the ketogenic diet is not bad, but I feel she left out some important food types. She drags on about testing your blood for the process of ketosis, and also mentions other options that the average person probably would never do.
Find Simply Keto at the Westminster Public Library!
This explained what the keto diet is so clearly and how our bodies work with the diet and without. The recipes are simple and delicious with all the ingredients at my local grocery store. Her story was very relatable and inspiring.
A great book for a quick, concise review of the Keto Low Carb Lifestyle! Suzanne organized this book by helpful sections, which are easy to reference again & again.
These sections include: * Her Story * Understanding Keto * Keto Foods * Shopping Lists by Store * Recipes by Category + Photos (for every recipe!) * A 30 Day Meal Plan * Keto Outside the Home (including: Coffee Shops, Restaurants, and even Road Trip Food ideas)
I've tried many of the Recipes and have been very please thus far! I've also found her suggestions for "HARD TO FIND ITEMS" extremely helpful, and her favorite BRANDS section has saved time and money!
I'm very pleased I selected this book for Keto information, and I already feel GREAT not living in a "Carbohydrate Coma". I would definitely recommend SIMPLY KETO for anyone interested in getting their Low Carb Journey started, or refer to Suzanne's website (www.ketokarma.com) for further information.
LOVED this! I am on day three and I just now picked this up! It was fantastic. I really related to Suzanne's story and loved her recipes and advice! With how inspiring this book was I feel like I can do this Keto life!
As I learn to live gluten free, I need to explore all the recipe And lifestyle options available. The recipes in this book are easily made with few ingredients. Looking forward to trying them out.
I love this book! I love the recipes. I love that they are easy with simple ingredients. I very much enjoyed Suzanne Ryan's journey. I love her message.
We have already made 3 of her recipes. Simple and delicious.
This library book is on the top of my TO BUY list. I am just trying to decide if I want the book version or the e-book version 🤗
I'm on keto now, and this has so far been my #1 of the books I had gone through - luckily since it was the one I bought first, because it was on the highest number of "best of" keto book lists!
I liked that the author didn't feel like your traditional healthy eating blogger who had never really struggled herself - I liked that she put her own weight loss story in the pages.
I like the All About Keto and Keto Foods/Groceries sections, and I've repeatedly turned back to it for things like: checking what blood ketone monitor she uses, or checking facts to tell someone the difference between nutritional ketosis and diabetic ketoacidosis, recalling what is MCT oil again, or checking which fruit and veg are on my okay list.
And yes... the recipes are good! The keto chili was excellent (though I switched it to an Instant Pot), the chocolate-covered macadamia nut fat bombs are keeping me going (though I switched to pecans), and the chocolate chip mug cake with keto whipped cream was an awesome treat.
I'd recommend this to anyone starting keto or on keto.
This book is a fantastic introduction to keto! I followed Suzanne's keto youtube channel and blog and was excited when her book came out - I wasn't sure what to expect because sometimes translation from youtube or a blog to a book doesn't go so well. I was pleasantly surprised that this there is a lot of information here not contained on the blog and I think the format allows for a great introduction to keto. She explains a lot of the keto concepts really well and also includes a lot good information - like what to buy at trader joes or costco, or what to do in a weight stall, working out on keto etc. I find her explanations very practical and the graphics really support the text. Also she has such an inspiring story. Oh and there's also all the recipes too! There are many basic items to make that don't require a lot of ingredients. I highly recommend!
The book is a practical guide for applying the keto diet as a lifestyle. There is a discussion of what keto is all about compared with a carbohydrates based diet. You learn what to expect, how to test for ketones. Most of the book is about what foods are ketogenic, and how to cook them. Understanding how keto works was the main take away for me. From a practical point of view, the lists of keto foods is also very useful.
Truly love this book! I've been trying to go keto for a long time due to health issues related to insulin resistance, but was having a hard time getting started. This book made it easy, with a simple three-step plan to begin, a meal plan and lots of recipes and tips. It's made it possible for me to transition to a keto lifestyle. My weight is dropping, my health indicators are improving (so long, high blood sugar and polycystic ovary syndrome!) and I feel great. What a wonderful resource!
Still not convinced by the diet. Anything that says you can't have grapefruit or an apple is ridiculous to me. At least she admits that the calories matter. That's something a lot of the keto stuff I read doesn't admit.
I might try a couple of the recipes... but basically I know that I just need to stop eating cookies. lol
I really enjoy the book, however extremely disappointed that the recipes in the Kindle do not match the actual book. The kindle book leaves out pages. I paid 9.99 for the book just to find out that I missing recipes. This is not fair. Now I am going to buy the book for an additional price. Which I paid more than the book in the first place
I'm not going to finish this book. It's good, and I get the idea, but most of the recipes I'm not going to use. I've been simplifying our lives by eating foods in simplest possible terms, most of the time: tomatoes and other raw veggies au naturel, soups where I throw in the stuff that can't be eaten raw.
I love how this book includes Suzanne’s personal journey as well as guidelines and recipes. It’s one of the best Keto books, especially for beginners in the Keto diet. Easy to follow with great insights and relatability. If you are going to get only 1 Keto book to guide you, get this one.
I’m not one who loves cooking, but I found the information in this book simply laid out. The recipes are delicious and easy to make and use ingredients I have in my home. I checked out quite a few Keto cookbooks and this one is my favorite.
This is the best Keto book I’ve read. All the recipes I tried turned out (no duds). The best, part my family loved them all. These recipes took little time to prepare and make. That’s a huge bonus. The yummy recipes I tried were:60 – Second Mug Biscuits, Blueberry Mug Muffin, Broccoli, Bacon, and Cheese Egg Muffins, Biscuits and Gravy, Keto Crackers, Creamy Pesto Chicken, and Brownies. I watched my family smile as they ate everything and asked for seconds. I was beaming to see them pleasantly satisfied and I was too!
This author is honest and transparent about why she started the Ketogenic diet in 2015 and freely talked about her struggles along the way to wellness. Basically, Suzanne had weight issues for years; tried every diet nothing worked for long. She was highly motived to change her life style after had a baby and had her gallbladder removed and was told to go on a fat free diet, which made her gain even more weight. When she saw the scale tipping 300 pounds, she was willing to do whatever it took to turn her life around.
Suzanne didn’t wait to pay to lose weight, buy a packaged anything, or invest in prepared meals, she wanted to eat clean foods and make a permanent change. She started to blog about her experience and made monthly youtube videos to encourage others and herself. She was so surprised at how many people reached out to her. The author has a blog www.ketokarma.com It took one year but Suzanne lost 100 pounds.
In the book she talks about her wellness journey and answers questions readers have sent her. She does this in the beginning of her book. She goes on to explain how the Keto plan works in the chapter titled Keto 101.
A fun fact I discovered there are two affective ways to determine if you are in ketones or not. One way is to use the breath analyzer and the second is to use the blood glucose and ketone monitor. I found this information very helpful because the ketone strips never worked for me. I learned several other helpful tips that make this something I can stick with as my family and I head to get healthier and lose weight.
I’ve tried several other keto books, they were complicated, did not include many pictures of recipes and my family didn’t like the recipes I tried. Suzanne’s approach is like she says, “Simple” to understand, use and make. A bonus for me was my family favorites were in this book. Now Suzanne has made easy to make and keto friendly. I’m super excited about the fact that the author includes a 30 day mean plan.
I highly recommend this book for those on the Keto diet and for those that just want amazing, wonderful, yummy recipes that are gluten free friendly (most are) I can’t say enough about this book.

I waded through several other Keto books before finding this one. I am so glad I found "Simply Keto!" Suzanne Ryan is informative and personable. she shares her own experience with the diet without harping on her journey, focusing on the Keto lifestyle. She points out how a disciplined approach at the beginning of your Keto journey will help in the weight loss stage instead of jumping straight to "lazy keto," like some of the other books I purchased. In all this seems like a balanced view and I find it very helpful.
This cookbook is amazing! First, I appreciate how in depth the author goes into explaining Keto, and practical steps to beginning this lifestyle. She covers it all! I have been researching a great deal on this lifestyle and this book is the ONLY one I actually purchased. The recipes are easy to make and I highly encourage anyone on the fence to educate yourself on this lifestyle using books found through your local library. Then, hopefully like me, you’ll find this book was just what you were looking for. So happy I got this one!
The information provided by the author regarding the ketogenic diet is very simple and easy to understand. I have read many books on this topic, and for a beginner the information she provides is perfect. I have also perused and/or read many other keto cookbooks, and their recipes are simple and delicious! Many keto cookbooks have complicated recipes with hard to find ingredients, and this boom does not do that at all. I am very excited to start cooking some of her delicious recipes and get back on track with stricter keto after some not so healthy, holiday eating.
The BEST keto recipe book. I first got it from the library and found that I loved it so much I wanted to buy it. I never do that, the library is my jam! But I just had to have it. Easy, quick, and delicious recipes. Another thing I like is that there aren’t a lot of crazy ingredients that I haven’t cooked with before. This book is my go to now!
She also talks about her story and does a good job of being real and honest. Seems like a genuine person who likes simple recipes. What’s not to love?
I own several books/cookbooks pertaining to Keto/Ketosis. I also follow many doctors/pages/groups regarding the same. So far this book is my favorite resource. I would describe as Keto 101, 201 and 301 with a full color cookbook included. Open it and read it like a self-help book, then following along as it morphs into a how-to guide and eventually into a full color cookbook with amazing recipes. Truly a one-stop-shop for all things Ketogenic Diet.
