What I love about this series is the way that it captures the fun of Silver Age superhero stories and blends it with a darker tale of alien conquest, all without bogging itself down in self-seriousness. The creators are clearly enjoying themselves, and that makes me enjoy it too.
Plus Kotaro reminds me of The Flash in the first season of the TV show. :)

At this stage I question moving this series to America. I think setting the stories in Japan worked best, and Shinjiro was a reasonably engaging character the world building was adequate at the worst, and arguably better than that.
Instead we end up Brooklyn (damn, now I'm not trusting my memory) and two new characters. The alien conspiracy is building, and we sort of get introduced to a new Ultraman.
Avoiding spoilers here, but when you get the end you see two more Ultrman mythos Easter Eggs. Unfortunately, those are this volume's highlights.

This continues Taro's story - and how he became involved with the aliens. Lots of good action and the story progresses well. It's also an interesting setup for what is to happen in future volumes, I guess. Good volume, but nothing too special.

Another chapter and another unique tale on a Ultra brother, this time Taro.. But he*s snot the only one both Jack and Moroboshi stories get a little development here. Not to mention it feels like the current story arc is ramping up a bit. It's still good and I can't wait to where it is heading.

Great introduction to this universes version of Ultraman Taro! Some really good character development in just a few chapters. Sets up the first BIG battle!
