Dumped at the altar, Trish Malone is shocked to discover her fiancé has been having an affair during their engagement. Too soon, she meets Jake Abbott, a widower with a six-year-old daughter. Jake is the perfect man, with an amusing extended family, but she needs time to heal. Insisting they remain friends, she waits too long, and he seems to be falling for her best friend, Laney, a widow with a daughter of her own. This story of love and forgiveness weaves an intricate path through the lives of intriguing characters with humor and honesty. A feel-good tale of family life that leaves the reader satisfied, this is a romance you won't soon forget.
I haven't given a romance five stars in a long time. This was actually a great read because of the character developments. The good & bad, warts or in this case baggage from previous relationships. And the most meddling parents with no filters, I have ever seen in a book, without a mean streak at all. Happy reading.
How refreshing this sweet bowl of whipped cream was! I love that the author used morals, humor and left out the graphic sexual content found in most writing today. I think the part about Trish being so certain of Laney and Jake’s relationship was a bit overplayed and unrealistic but hey, that’s why we call it fiction. I loved Trish’s hippie parents and Kelli’s growing up as well as Trish’s willingness to help her. Sylvia and Taylor were adorable and their silly little talk was often humorous. Thanks to Desiree for some fluff that took me away from reality for a bit!!
This has a very southern feel to the story line. She was ditched at the alter by her fiancee. She had been brow beaten by him for so long. He was a master manipulator. When she later finds out he had set his secretary up in her own apartment cracks in that relationship started to show. Now she has meet another man. But will she give him the time of day? What with her self-esteem that was shattered? With friends who stood by her and the reconnection of old ones she might have a chance.
Being dumped on your wedding day can leave a person devastated. Trish is trying hard to get "herself" back and close the door on her past. Jake surprises her senses but she's still reeling from the disastrous relationship she had. Things get confused and Trish misunderstands what's really going on and tries to be the good friend, but she's looking at things all wrong. With heart, silliness, sadness, and inspiring people, she finds that there is life after all.
Cute story. I love when I can get lost in a story and have to keep going until I finish. It’s not a world changing story by any means, but it is a lovely one. No having to skim or skip pages to stay out of the bedroom. If you prefer some spice, this isn’t it, but the outcome left me with a warm, satisfied feeling.
Left at the altar by a cheating fiance she is trying to move on but some wounds are very deep! His wife died and he is left behind with his daughter. Their paths cross and somehow they are drawn together. Can they have a happy ever after or is the luggage of the past too much? A good enjoyable clean and sweet romance
She’s a jilted teacher, so unhappy. She’s at the park with a friends little girl when a loose dog and another little girl rush by. They all give chase after the dog and wind up in TE arms of the daddy. He’s a widower and instantly attracted to her. But she’s hurting so the become “friends”. A long crazy courtship happens.
Trish was still recovering from her controlling fiance dumpinh her at the alter, when she met Jake. Despite an instant attraction, she didn't trust her self to begin a serious relationship. Lots of unexpected events made this an interesting tale. I gave it 5 stars
Trisha is devastated when the groom calls off the wedding minutes before she is to walk down the aisle. But later she realizes that she truly is fortunate to have dodged that bullet. Not without some tears and confusion, she finds her Happily Ever After. A nice clean story.
This was an absolutely fabulous read. Jake and Trish make a great couple and an adorable family with Sylvie. The miscues and misunderstandings are by turns amusing and a little heartbreaking. The ending is satisfying and wonderful. I would recommend this book to any reader who likes good romance and humor.
Boy, oh boy did this bad guy ever do the h a favor leaving her at the alter! Not only did she meet the H but she fell in love with his family and his daughter. His mother was a riot! Her parents would make you want to drink wine! Great story line and all of the characters were well developed and the dialogue between them was great! Highly recommend.
This is a clean, sweet and romantic story. There are no sex scenes or foul language and it is just the right length. Not a short story but not too long either. It has a heartwarming ending.
Trish is a sweet living person who cares about others. Left at the after meeting Jake and having a good friend in Laney. Things change fast she misunderstood things falls in love but unable to accept. Good story will read more from author.
Loved falling in love with this author. Being dumped at the alter is everyone's worst fear! Humiliation and broken hearted are just the tip of emotions of rejection. Trying to move forward and open up to love again is a seemingly impossible task.
This story was good. It made you feel like it was happening to yourself. The characters were so realistic. It was about losing your spouse & starting over.A lot of twists along the way.
Trish was going to get married and her wedding Dodson dumped her because she wouldn't fit in the wedding dress he wanted her wear. But was a good thing because she met Jake & his daughter Sylvie. Between their ups and downs it is a great story.
This is my first book by this author. I am pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it to the fullest. It was laugh out loud funny. Can't wait to read more from this author. Happy reading.
Interesting storyline. Jilted bride, meets a new guy, but isn't really ready for a new relationship. Add a young daughter along with a lot of baggage. Regardless, this is still a lovely little story.
Better than average romance. Nothing to do with the west. I like that the book doesn't concentrate too much on professions but uses it to add character depth.
This book is clean and wholesome with lots of banter that just draws you in. Add in friends, family, kids, dogs, misunderstandings, and romance, and you have a really good book!
Sweet romance with a touch of humor. I really like Jake's parents. They had me laughing out loud more than once. I wouldn't mind reading a sequel with Keli in it.
A refreshing love story that intertwines loss, children, and second chances throughout the entire read. A very plausible love story from start to finish.
