MEH or the BAD: **SPOILERS**
Lust-based & shallow overall—the writings/romance/characters.

Lust-based romance between 22yo sexy virgin h & her dad's widower BFF & new boss 38yo resort-owner H. Didn't like H&h much since both were shallow characters. H was a neglectful father who spent more time at his favorite bar drinking & picking up women & doing ONS. He wasn't that into h since he was flirting & sexually touching a bartender right before h came to meet him at the bar at his invitation. When he was resisting his new & growing attraction to h for 2 weeks, he was still smexxing random OW while supposedly thinking about h.

h wasn't a prize either. She may have been a virgin but she was sexually experienced with foreplay stuff. Didn't like that she was chasing H & invited herself to work for him with her dad's help. Both didn't really care that her dad would be hurt by their secret affair. H only decided to finally smex h (after doing foreplay things with her before) since he was jealous at watching her flirt with some guy at a wedding party that she was actually interested in dating, after he rejected her out of momentary guilt about her dad & told her to find a boy her age. Most of the book's content was filled with sexual things. Emotional involvement was lacking, aside from feelings of guilt towards h's dad but that wasn't often & easily forgotten with lust. No mention about H's deceased wife except when they got married/had a son 6 years ago/& her dying from an accident. Average S chem/detailed S scenes.

Writing didn't seem like author Chance Carter, who was accused by a plagiarism article (https://www.theguardian.com/books/201...) as using Rye Hart as 1 of his pseudonyms. They may work together but writing style didn't seem identical.

The GOOD:
It's a novella. Epilogue years later with H&h married and with 2 kids.

Sexual History:
22yo virgin h dated & “made out” with different guys to get over her teenage crush on H but no one came close to matching her feelings for H. H loved his 1st wife but became a regular at bars after she died, drinking & picking up random women to smex. He often didn't remember their names & would just call them “babe” if he didn't get a chance to leave before they woke up from their ONS.

Chloe finds herself returning home to her father's ranch because she was unable to find a job in her chosen field after graduating from college. When Chloe's dad picks her up at the airport, he tells her his best friend Conner needs help with his resort in the administrative end of running it. She is thrilled at the prospect of having a job interview but nervous about seeing Conner after all these years. He was her teenage crush & she has never gotten over him. Conner, now a widower & single parent to a six year boy, is not looking to settle down anytime soon & enjoys the freedom his life brings him. When his best friend, Chloe's dad, asks Conner to interview her for the job he has to remind himself that he owes his friend a lot. Conner does give Chloe the job & a few weeks into to her position she's able to show him just what she is capable of managing. Conner is so impressed with what Chloe accomplishes that he invites her for drinks to celebrate later that night at the local bar. After drinking & shooting pool, it becomes very clear that both Conner & Chloe are attracted to one another but Conner pushes Chloe away because he can't help but think of her dad & how he wouldn't approve. But eventually Chloe wears him down & they begin to see a lot of each other when her father takes an unexpected extended trip out of town. They grow closer & Conner even includes Chloe in activities with his son. But when Chloe's father returns they have a huge fight. Chloe tells Conner he must decide who he can't live without. Will Conner decide to tell Chloe how he feels? Will Chloe be able to tell her father that she wants to be with Conner? Will Chloe's newly found news change everything?

This older man fall for younger woman short romance is about taking risks with your heart. Chloe is scared of rejection & Conner is scared to upset the life he has with his son & his best friend. But sometimes you can't stop your heart from wanting what maybe scary. Learning that love & happiness are worth fighting for is what brings everything full circle in the end. This was a sweet story with a good HEA ending. This book is meant for mature readers.

Surprisingly good! I was actually surprised how much I enjoyed this. A short but well-thought out story line and the characters were well fleshed out too. Yes, there were a few (actually quite a lot of) typos but I was able to overlook them because I enjoyed the story. I'll certainly be reading more from this author when I'm in the mood for something quick and smutty (which is at least 85% of the time!).

Chloe moved with her mom to Italy after her parents divorce & when she found out her big crush Connor's getting married. Now 6 yrs later she returns back home to her dad because she can't get a job. Connor is now a divorced single dad of a young son & running a resort. Chloe discovers her feelings towards him is still strong & he's amazed when he sees in what a beautiful woman she turned into. He's also attracted to her, but what would her dad, his best friend say about it?

This one will get your motor running!!

This book was hot from the cover to the end!! It had all the elements that I love packed neatly into this short story. Chloe, is young , single and moving back home to live with her dad after finding it hard to get a job even with a degree. Conner, is a single, widowed dad who is also Chloe's dad's best friend and he is trying to run a resort on top of everything else. Chloe has had a crush on Conner for years but after he married she was crushed and moved off. Six years has gone by without running into each other but when they do, sparks fly. Now, Conner has to decide what or who is more important, his best friend or the woman he can't stop thinking about.

I've read a few books about a girl and her dad's best friend and this is a good one. She crushed on him hard for years, went off to college, and once she was back home and working for him he saw her as the sexy grown woman she had become. Also, I like that he didn't rush it, wanting to make sure it was what she really wanted. Good, short weekend read that was sexy but also sweet and flowed well.

All grown up now Chloe comes back to the farm her dad owns. She has finished college and is looking for a job. It also just so happens that the man little Chloe pined after is still there as well. She left when he got married, but after an accident he is a widower and a father. Chloe is still just as hung up on him as ever. Her dad asked his best friend (and the one guy Chloe is after) to give his daughter a job doing the numbers and she is on her way to that interview.

After his wife died Connor has drown his sorrows in alcohol and becoming a manwhore. He never sticks around and never introduces them to his son. He has needs that will be met but that is all. That is until his best friend asks that his daughter start to work for Connor. He remembers little Chloe, but he never dreamed she would have grown into the gorgeous woman she is, and she is about to change his entire world.

The interview went well, both seem to hide their feelings from each other, but oh yeah, it is there. One day Connor walks into the office and sees Chloe stretched out across the desk....flirting ensues and there is a request to meet up at a bar, you know strictly to celebrate a job well done with a very critical and overbearing visitor, all in the first week. Things start off with the fact Connor thinks she isn't showing and blowing him off, that is until she walks in....yep in a tight dress and heels and it is no holds barred. More flirting and now Chloe is being walked out of the bar by Connor. Chloe expresses her feelings, Connor keeps seeing his best friends daughter. That is not where this ends though....nope. Connor teases her and then presses it a little bit. They have a special "bond" started and texting to show for it.

Enough is enough, Connor didn't realize that Chloe would not only take his dare, but that she would make him no longer want it to be texts from her. So one day he barges into the office and blurts a little bit out, only to catch Chloe go pale and find out her dad/his BFF is in the room. The two of them covered that up well, and find out that her dad is going to be gone for about a month. Oh the possibilities, right?! Well this makes Connor back off and say the words "find someone your own age."

Remeber that really critical and difficult client, well her wedding day has arrived, yes, she is getting married on the farm. Tents set up and all is going really smooth. Chloe is having a drink, even though she is technically working, no matter. A very nice and charming man comes up and is flirting. All Chloe can hear is the ringing of the dreaded "find someone your own age." This nice young man happens to be someone her own age. She is starting to be led to the dance floor when a third hand clamps down on hers and takes her away. Now the real feelings start to come out for Connor. He told her to find someone else but seeing it.....nuh-uh. He is shutting that down right now and taking what is his.

There is a lot of fireworks between these two and Connor finally admits to himself he loves her....that is until a call from her dad/his BFF spoil his good mood. Things are said by him, hurtful things (not intentionally but still said) and Chloe finally just tells him to choose. Then a hurt Chloe stumbles upon something, and there will be a surprise, actually a couple of them. Bigger ones and these help lead up to their happy ever after.

When you jump into the saddle with this book, you’d better be ready to hang on tight, right to the finish. Heroine Chloe is a 22-year-old virgin who still nurses a crush on her dad’s BFF (it’s not as bad as you fear if you’re hesitant about the older guy/younger woman concept – he’s four years younger than her dad, who started his family early, so there’s only a measly 16-year age difference), a guy she hasn’t seen in six years. She has returned to her roots with her tail between her legs. She’s recently graduated from college and, through no lack of effort, ended up without a job. Her dad sets her up with a job with, who else, but the object of her crush, Connor. Lo’ and behold, the hot stud muffin himself (and widower), is confronted with the realization that sweet little Chloe is no longer his best friend’s little girl – she’s all grown up.

The storytelling is on cue, it’s steady and smooth, the desire between these two is palpable, and though the story itself seems rushed, it’s as much a result of the combination of energy, expertly scripted timing, and anticipation for what comes next, as it is how fast it all actually happens. The plot/storyline isn’t particularly deep, of course, and there is very little time to waste with story build-up, so don’t blink or you’ll miss the action. And it’s actually very erotic, seductive action: Chloe is the first woman since his late wife who Connor cares about, and once he mans up and accepts that he doesn’t plan to miss out on a good thing, which actually segues into my favorite scene in the book – when Connor decides to interrupt Chloe’s dance with Paul (“the guy her own age”) at the wedding reception – things really heat up, and Chloe finally experiences what she’s been hoping for and dreaming about since she turned 16. But what will happen when Alex – Connor’s best friend and Chloe’s dad – figures out how close the two most important people in his life really are with one another?

The most seamless and strongest part of the entire book was achieved the final few chapters - the quality and depth of story development, character growth, and relationship maturity – and using a plot device that could easily have been glossed over and not met its potential. Rock Hard Daddy was author Rye Hart storytelling at its best – entertaining, sexy, and enchanting – and showcases her ability to take a currently popular/trendy theme and make it original.

Rye Hart is addictive! I don’t know what it is about these books, but I seem to buy and read every one of them. This one is a little different with the fact that Chloe is virgin and also the daughter of Conner’s best friend, Alex. Conner has seen Chloe grow up and thought of her as a little sister. Chloe started crushing on Conner when she was sixteen, but got her heart broke when he found Quinn, married, and had a child. Chloe moved to Rome with her mother and six years’ latter has returned to stay with her Father. Since Quinn’s death in an accident Conner has been lost and turned into a man whore. A lot of whiskey and a string of one night stands. When he meets Chloe after her six-year absence he is shocked to find she is no longer a child but a grown, very desirable, woman. Alex convinces Conner to hire Chloe for a position he has open with his resort and is amazed how well she does her job. He begins to have sexual fantasies about her, but knows she is off limits because she is his best friend’s daughter. As much as he wants her he doesn’t want to lose Alex as a friend. Chloe wants Conner in a bad way and offers him her virginity if he will teach her about sex. Conner finds her too hard to resist and consents. This starts new feelings and doubts with Conner. He wants Chloe and doesn’t like seeing her with anyone else, but doesn’t want to hurt her father. What will he decide? Will Alex find out? This is a good read with an HEA, no cliffhangers, and very sexy. Included in this book are several other short stories with different genre’s.

Hot & Sexy see-saw storytelling!

I received an Advance Reader Copy for Rock Hard Daddy and voluntarily reviewed this book. After a hard-earned degree, and with no love life to speak of or financial means, Chloe Jones had no choice but to go back home to her father's horse ranch, after six years living away in Italy and New York. She had no job prospects at all, so when her father sets her up with an interview with his best friend's Blackwater Ranch Resort, she was all in...for more reasons than for the possibility of employment in hotel management: it was mainly due to the owner himself, Conner Wilkes, her childhood crush.

Conner sets eyes on her for the first time in too long and is stunned with the beauty before him. She is hired as a favor to his best friend, but Conner knows that it will be a supreme test of his self control to be working with her so closely. Just how long before his will breaks, and what will his best friend think about the way he feels for his little girl?

This was a very sexy see-saw storytelling between right and wrong, trust and betrayal, relationships and friendships, and want versus need. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

Chloe grew up idolizing Conner as a more of an older brother/fun older friend, than a father figure. He would take her to events, concerts and would never miss a family occasion. Once Chloe became a teenager though, she started crushing on him hard and knowing that it was an impossibility, she chose to live far away with her mom when her parents separated. It saved her from having to see Conner play the field and eventually settle down with a beautiful wife and baby.

Conner hasn’t seen his best friend’s daughter Chloe since she moved away with her Mom when she was just an awkward 16 year old. Six years later, when he meets her again at an interview that was dropped into his lap by his best buddy, he’s stunned and seriously conflicted about her beauty and the feelings it’s making him feel.

Conner’s been a single dad for a while now and he’s back to his old routine of trolling for girls at the local bar and enjoying no strings flings with all the local beauties. He never introduces them to his young son and never sees them more than once. He’s got no interest in settling down again. Until he lays his eyes on Chloe.

Chloe and Conner dance around their attraction to each other, but eventually, they throw caution to the wind and meet for a drink. From then on, they start to tiptoe over the line into a secret relationship where the very experience Conner is happy to teach the virgin Chloe everything she needs to know. He plans to be her first, last and only man.

The problem is the other man in Chloe’s life, her father. He’s been Conner’s best friend through thick and thin and has helped raise Conner’s son. Conner feels like their relationship is a betrayal and is struggling with who his loyalty should be to. Chloe is not satisfied with being second choice or being a dirty little secret, so she tells Conner he needs to decide once and for all. He’s either all in and willing to confront Chloe’s dad or he’s out and they’re finished.

Will Conner turn his back on his best friend in order to have a chance at happiness with Chloe? Or will he take the coward’s way out and walk away from the fireworks he and Chloe share in order to protect his long-time friendship with her dad?

Standalone, steamy, thoughtful and sweet novella. HEA. I absolutely loved this story and read it in one sitting.

And she has had a crush on him since she was 15. 6 years ago Chloe's mom divorced her dad and she moved with her mom to Rome. You See Conner had recently got married and had a baby boy Lucas. His wife Quinn, died in an accident while Chloe was in college. Now 6 years later shes come home, no job (In hotel mngmt) No love life (still a virgin wanting Connor to be her first)and feeling totally depressed. Her dad gets her a job at Connor's Ranch and Resort. Chloe hopes there might be a chance with Connor now that she's 22and he's 38. When Connor sees her for the 1st time in 6 years he's amazed at how beautiful she grew up to be. He hires her to help him run the business side of the resort and finds that she very smart also. He quickly becomes infatuated with her but tries to stay away because she's his best friends little girl and feels guilty.See how they overcome the best friend issue and make a life for themselves.

Loved how despite Chloe's feelings for Connor, she wasn't going to let him walk all over her and when push came to shove, she told him to choose. Was happy to see Connor man up! Great hot book and highly recommend it and this author!

A short read by Rye Hart about an older alpha male, Conner, and his best friend's daughter, Chloe. Chloe has always had a crush on Conner and when he married she had to get away and moved with her mom. When she comes home after 6 years, her dad arranges for her to have a job at Conner's ranch. When they see each other Chloe's crush comes rushing back and Conner finally sees her as the woman that she is. As their affair starts they hide it from her father but when her dad returns from a trip Conner has a choice, her or his loyalty to her dad. Read and find out what happens.
A great short story with steamy scenes and a HEA that will leave you smiling.

Connor hadn't seen Chloe in six years but once she walked into his resort for an interview he was captivated by her beauty. They both fight their attraction to each other but eventually they give in. Can their relationship survive when Chloe's dad finds out about them? Or will he lose his best friend and his lover in the end?

This is a great novella full of romance, hot sex and an HEA. It's a well written forbidden love story between an older man and a younger women. This was my first book by Rye Hart and it won't be my last. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.

Great book again from Rye Hart. She hasn't let her readers down with her panty melting stories. I really enjoyed this one due to the fact that it envolved a man who already had a child he was raising alone. I like those stories more. I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.

Chloe has been in love with her dad's bestfriend since she turned 16. After seeing him find love,marry and have a child, she moved to Rome to stay with her mother. After college and struggling to find a job she decided to move back in with her dad. Once he told her that Conner was looking for an administrator she was onboard to being that person.

Conner has struggled finding love since he lost Quinn and raising his son alone. Now that Chloe is back he realizes that she's not the little girl he remembered. After Alex tells him he basically gave Chloe the job he was looking for a replacement for, he decided to let her have it. He loved the drive she had and she was doing a damn good job. But Conner was fantasizing about her and it was just something he knew was wrong but could not stop doing.

Once Chloe opened the door letting Conner know he can walk in there was no turning back. However guilt continued to eat at Conner and he breaks her heart. Does he make it right and let Alex know that he's in love with his baby girl or does he let it end? Does Chloe give him the option of walking away from her? When he's invited over for dinner who knows what will be the outcome. A must read.

My opinion:
Rye Hart writes in this story about the relationship between a young girl – Chloe – of 22 years and her love for her father’s friend – Conner (38 years).
Chloe comes home after 6 years and begins working for Conner. Conner has a great resort, where she is employed as an administrator.
The chemistry between the two characters are described very well. It follows the relationship from both their points of view.
This allows to uncover many situations.
The story is very well written with humor, erotic scenes and happy ending.
However, I think the conclusion could have been a little more in depth. But definitely a book that is worth the purchase.

I so loved this book. After Chloe graduates from college she is feeling a little down. She can't find a job and is having to move back home with her dad. Her dad tries to cheer her up and tells her she was offered a job at Conners resort ranch. Immediately Chloe is excited as she had a crush on her dad's best friend forever. When she starts working with Conner he realizes that she has grown up however fights his feelings for her. This book is a quick to read love story with lots of steamy scenes and an HEA.

This is a great single dad and virgin romance. Chloe is a strong woman that is coming back home after being away for 6 years. She is in need of a job and Conner has an opening.
Conner is a widower raising his son and whoring himself out at night to try to forget his wife. When he sees Chloe for the first time in 6 years, it just might make him want to be a better man.
This really is a great book!

This was a great book and one you will love. Conner, the gorgeous playboy and widowed father of a son will frustrate you at times. After the heartbreak of losing his wife he has no intention of settling down for fear of breaking his heart again. Enter Chloe, the gorgeous daughter of his best friend who is naive, a virgin and 16 years younger. But she is off limits because she is the daughter of his best friend. Chloe has always had a crush on Conner. No spoiler here, but this is a book that you should buy and I know you will enjoy. I voluntarily read an arc copy in return for an honest review.

I received this book as an arc. I voluntarily decided to leave a review. This is my honest review.
I loved the way this book focused on the single parents of the world showing no matter what one can be as good as two for your children if circumstances turn out that way. He's her dad's best friend and she's been crushing on him forever but he was married so she left. Her life leads her home to be thrown into him by being given a job working for him.
She knows he's to old and he was more like a brother but a girl can dream....
This book was hot and steamy in all of the right places and it was a great storyline too which added to it. You could imagine how she felt after all those years of not seeing him, convinced she wouldn't still have those feelings after all this time. He was thinking she'd will be this young just out of school girl and not a red hot women with all the curves in the right places. What happened in those years to both of them?
He can't go down that road not with his best friend daughter who's far too young for him.
He has his morals and he is determine not to ruin a friendship over a one night stand.
I love the passion and the heat between them both trying so hard to not let their feelings show.
I would recommend anyone that likes a great working with a steamy hot undertone to it to buy it you won't be disappointed. I couldn't put it down once I picked it up, it's a great romance. I loved it!

Oh Chloe and Conner, you are so good together. I think that they were always meant to be. Now, at this time, and the time was just right. Chloe had always loved Conner, maybe a crush at first but she wanted him to be her first in everything. Coming home to be with her dad Alex was the best decision made, even though she didn't think so at the time. Seeing Conner again, getting to know his son was certainly a testing time for them all. So now, Chloe had to tell Conner how she felt. That's when the fun starts. A brilliantly written story with lots of love, passion and loyalty to each other as friends and lovers. Testing friendships between Conner and her dad Alex. It was all good. Loved it

Chloe has been in love with her fathers BF since she was 16 yrs. old. She knows there is no way he will ever return her feelings...or will he?
Connor lost his wife and now he is raising their son alone. He is still trolling the bars for his one night stands. His friend ask him for a favor. Hire his daughter, but he didn't count on wanting her the minute he saw her.
A very entertaining quick read of forbidden love.
There was quite a few spelling errors but it is what it is.

Aww this was really just so cute!
Ok, the ending was cute. Sweet.
The whole story was both frustrating and hot. I really liked Chloe. Conner frustrated me to no end. Lucas was really cute. Alex was a good father and I liked him, except for that tiny bit when he found out about the relationship. I also want a book about him finding love, with a younger woman. Seriously, he's kind of a sexy daddy. I'm probably going crazy, I know. Whatever.

A very innocent and lack life experience girl comes home to her family to find herself. Her father's friend who is older than her play at trying to be together but aren't sure. Lots of mystery and indecision along the way. Well worth reading. I really enjoyed reading it. It is one I will read again. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.
