Oola is not your typical self-help book. So what is it? Just like its origins from the expression 'oh lá lá! ' Oola is a 'state of awesomeness,' it's when your life is balanced and growing in the 7 key areas of life (Fitness, Finance, Family, Field, Faith, Friends, and Fun). Oola is not stale and stuffy advice, it reads more like a collection of kick-butt anecdotes and sincere stories that just happen to have meaningful messages. Co-authors Dave Braun (The OolaSeeker) and Troy Amdahl (The OolaGuru) have been there and done that. What started out as a small group of people meeting once a year to set intentions for the future has turned into a nationwide phenomenon. Maybe you've seen Dave and Troy traveling the highways and byways of America in their 1970 VW Surf Bus. Covered with colorful Oola stickers, they are carrying the hopes of people, just like you, who are putting their dreams into action, ready to have the OolaLife. You, too, are awesome and designed for greatness and a purpose—LiveOola!
Oola has received glowing reviews from top authors, pro athletes, musicians, industry leaders, and Olympians. Need 7 more reasons to read this book? 1. Learn the three simple steps to balance and grow your life in an unbalanced world. 2. Uncover what blocks you from the life of your dreams and what can get you there faster. 3. This is the first “self help” book that I have ever finished. I started some, but never got past the first few chapters. I enjoyed reading the personal stories of successes and failures of the authors. They put humor in some sad stories (and happy ones) and you felt their pain and triumphs. Setting goals for the life you want is essential to have the life you want. Writing down those goals and actually planning them out is a must. We dream about how we want our lives to be, but we rarely take the time to put these dreams into actions. The book gives you a guide to do just that. 5 stars because, again, I actually finished the book. But, also because it was an entertaining and productive read. I’ve written my goals, developed my action plan, and have already started my Oola life. Balance in all the 7 F’s (you want to know what these are, read the book, you will not regret it) is essential for having the Oola life. We all deserve it, now take the time to do it and live it!
This book was very easy to read and provided good insights into finding balance in the 7 areas to achieve Oola. I think that the action steps will be very helpful in formulating goals as we approach the new year. The stories that the Oola seeker and the Oola guru shared were also entertaining and light. Only thing I wish was provided was a link to pdf handouts to complete the action steps, or even to have a list of the 7 F’s of Oola, the Oola blockers, and the Oola accelerators as a daily reminder.
This is another self help book with some interesting ideas. I expected more suggestions because a friend of mine is always mentioning the book. I read it on my kindle so I didn’t have some of the interactive sheets to work with and don’t have a printer so couldn’t print the worksheets. Maybe if I had those tools I would have enjoyed it more. It’s based on 7 principles to achieve an oolalife, a balanced life.
Such a fantastic read! This book shows you how to live the Oola life. An easy to read and to understand book, with real life stories and anecdotes from the authors. They explain the 7 f’s for living Oola: faith, finance, fun, field, family, friends, and fitness, Oola blockers, Oola accelerators, access your own life, and make your own goals in every aspect of your life. A must read! Live Oola!
This book is an easy read. Lots of stories on how the authors got to their right paths. Everything mentioned in the book are things we already know but need to be reminded of. Enjoy the stories and follow the prompts to an Oola life!
DNF at about 50% - Great book, just didn't really catch my interest after many other self-help books. I like the concept of living an "oola life" by strengthening the important parts of our lives and watering our flowers of faith, family, fitness, finance, etc..
This book gave me a great outlook on the rest of my life. So happy that I read this at the beginning of a year. Now, I feel like I am fully ready to embrace Oolabalance for a great Oolalife!
