Slave

Rate this book
When Jenny Ashton, a beautiful, strong-willed, and successful young business woman, begins talking to a mysterious man over the Internet, their conversations set in motion a chain of events that soon lead to her being drugged and kidnapped. Waking to find she's been incarcerated in the cellar of a remote country house, it quickly becomes clear that her captor possesses some extremely unorthodox tastes, which include plans to train her as his personal sex-slave. And thus begins a psychological battle of wits, with Jenny pitting her steely defiance against her abductor's rigid determination to shape her into his perfect concubine. But as the days unfold and Jenny gradually grows accustomed to her new regime, she begins to understand that there's a lot more to her idiosyncratic host than she'd initially realized.

Well, this is certainly dark and it's certainly smutty, and the predicament is frighteningly real enough, meeting a psycho on the internet. I believe the story started out as a screenplay for a movie, and that would probably be classed as a horror-thriller.

I can't say more about the plot than what is in the book description, but it does have a surprise ending.

I only gave it three stars because I thought the writing style was rather awkward and plodding.

Jenny, a beautiful, successful business woman is kidnapped and held captive, locked and chained naked in a man's rural estate cellar. The POV is that of the abductor for the most part for whom the author has done a brilliant job of creating a very disturbing voice. Recommended!

Slave by Eli Standing is a erotic thriller that actually has a terrific story by misses the mark for me based on the lack of character development. There is a twist at the end that you won't see coming that changes the entire feel of the book. This is done very well but the characters could have been definitely fleshed out more. What is their motivation behind the events that transpire and what will the future bring. It is hard to write more about this book without giving away key parts that will ruin it for the reader.

It was good but the potential could have been so much more.

I was all in with this book until this line:

“Well, clearly I must’ve spoken the magic words, because she’s suddenly up on her feet faster than a fat person can scoff a complimentary chocolate.”

Slave training books aren’t meant to be soft and indulgent, or “PC” in the general sense of the words. But there is no reason to make a joke at the expense of overweight individuals that has nothing to do with the plot save to illustrate how fast Jenny gets to her feet. There are dozens of other phrases that could have been used that don’t demean those whose body weight isn’t to the author’s liking.

I stopped reading at 79% because of this. The rest of the book was decent, hence my giving it a rating. Not overly salacious, and with a fair bit of depth to the Master character that's often lacking in books in this genre. But as someone who has a few extra pounds on them due to a medical condition, I can't hold with a casual prejudicial remark against overweight individuals, many of whom hate chocolate and do NOT overeat.

From the description you get the whole sense of that this book is going to be. It was darker but I loved the way the author played with our minds. Not only does Jenny get played with, but the author does a number on our mind, but keeps us intrigued to the very end.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet because this book was twisted but by the end, you get a clarity of what happens and cant help but be left wondering what you just read.

Overall. I really enjoyed it. Don't go in thinking that this is a romance because you will be sorely mistaken and let down. If you want a twisted read that make you think your strange for loving it, then pick up this book. 4 stars #2OCCJD

Sometimes I just want escapism from my very mundane life. I am a mother, a manager at work, been in a long term, committed relationship for 14 years and have a interest in the painful side of sex. Sometimes, i think i might be submissive, but i have a very passive partner. Once i hit my 40's, i started to ask for things, light breath play, spankings and rough sex. to get my fix, sometimes i just want a hard core, abusive book. One that makes me visualize all the dirty things that can be done. While i never want to live the work that Eli Standing created, it did hit all of the marks for me when it came to BDSM. I am not a 50 Shades kind of girl, but I do love me some punishment...

Very well written for a debut. Great plot and storyline and characters. Very unexpected ending, great twist! The only critique that I have is that I found it to be a bit clinical. It didn't seem to pull the reader in and evoke any type of emotion.

Wow! And I mean wow! I'm going to start at the end..what an extraordinary twist! This is a very dark, brutal, erotic story that pulled me right in. It's only over the past few months I have found myself delving into the dark, deprived world of dark erotica...and enjoying it! I must be sick =). This story was no exception, as I found myself feeling everything. I also liked the fact that the story was told from the kidnapper's POV. It made reading the story even easier.

The story centres round Jenny, a high-powered executive, who has been chatting to an unknown man on the internet, who calls himself 'The Magister'. She agrees to meet up with him, only to be stood up. Not long after, she is kidnapped, and what she is forced to do whilst in captivity will make you think twice about talking to strangers on the internet. I won't go any further than that, as the depravity gets a bit much to describe, but the twist at the end will knock you for 6. I didn't see it coming, that's for sure!
