My personal reaction of the book was that I liked the illustrations of this book. For example, the bright illustrations emphasizes the significance of the farm.

The purpose of this book would be read aloud for enrichment. This would be a good book for kindergarten. I would specifically incorporate how teamwork is easier to get things done. This book outlines a farmer and once he has animals on the farm to help him everything gets better. This easy to read narrative illustrates the impact of teamwork. This would be a good way to start introducing group projects to the students.

This was a cute one, although I didn't really appreciate the "nagging wife, obliging husband" duck joke that ran (imperceptively to kids, thank goodness) throughout the book. It is ingeniously arranged almost like a comic book and while it is longer than most I attempt with my 20 month old, I think all the animal noises made it interesting enough to sit for it. My 5 year old, I'm sure would love it and would any age probably in between.
