Thank you, Fatima AlSuwaidi, for my review copy of When We Wonder. I received this review copy in exchange for an honest review; this does not affect my opinion.
When We Wonder has become one of my favorite poetry collections. This book manages to say so much with so little words and there is no doubt in my mind about the fact that When We Wonder deserves endless success and a spot among the more well-known poetry authors currently sporting their names on the bestseller lists. What I love about this poetry collection is that the poems are relatable, beautiful, and will sweep you away.
I fall in love with the idea of people The ones I created in my head I create them With all the things I want them to be And all the things I want them to tell me And I fall in and out of love with the idea of them
When We Wonder is easy to read, draws you and it’s just what I look for in poetry. The writing is concise and to the point, and that’s what makes it so good. The book is about love, pain, struggling, and self-discovery while it at the same time also takes you on a journey. I think anyone will be able to find multiple poems in the collection that speaks to them. Moreover, I love how When We Wonder incorporate space and nature into a few of the poems through vivid and beautiful metaphors that feel modern and on point.
Sunsets; is the universe showing it’s talents It’s the way it holds the brush The way it chooses the colors And the way it paints
I recommend When We Wonder to all contemporary poetry lovers out there. This is a collection by an author of color is one you don’t want to miss out on or overlook. It’s without a doubt a perfect collection that shows you the best and the worst of love, sadness, and self-growth.
I am an ocean A whole universe is in my head
I am more than the bruises on my skin I’m more than the bags under my eyes
A quick read about a journey through hardships to self-discovery.
My first true review on Goodreads, so take the following with a grain of salt. Reading through the first few poems, I couldn't help but feel this sense of emotional distress that has been buried and forgotten. They bring back those haunted realities with pleasure and dance around its grave, indulging in the scars you thought have faded. The tragedy is clear, and it hurts. After its time of mourning, you understand the purpose of it all. You start to see the positive effect all the dismay has caused. You see hope, you see somebody who is no longer dwelling but wanting to thrive. The focus changes from what has happened to what could happen, and the process of getting there. My favourite part, however, is how personal it makes you feel. All the minor details like the wording, like the extra or missing apostrophe and minor grammatical errors makes you sure that this was written from the heart and not something generated by a computer. I am terrible when it comes to star ratings, but I wouldn't give this book below 4.5/5 All in all, a quick read that doesn't mind taking you down and building you back up again. Hope to see more from the author.
I couldn’t put it down I went through it in minutes. I love it so much. I share the same feelings in so many different ways and I love it a lot. The last page made me want to cry, it’s like projecting what I feel inside.
words of love and heartbreak, love is such, that there is pain that is eminent and so is salvation, just like after dark, there is daybreak. I guess I am not so good at this imitation, but surely inspired by the words, by one of our poets skilled in meaningful verses, Ms. Fathima Al Suwaidi. Blessed is she, to forward me a free eBook copy, of her new book, filled with poems and prose, that is thought-provoking, beautiful and yet, conveys the pain in verse.
Once again, thank you sooo much to Ms. Fathima AlSuwaidi for forwarding me a free eBook copy of When We Wonder.
A beautiful and quick read about self-discovery and self-struggle, that is thought-provoking and meaningful. The way the different aspects of life is portrayed in verse in this collection is just incredible and display of true talent. The way the poetess is able to say a lot in such less words is just indescribable and wonderful.
This is all for my today's review as I have run out of words to describe how delightful this read is so until next time, adios!
A nice quick read. This book for me reflects a timeline of growth and maturity, it’s truly something special reading the genuine emotions and feelings within this book that takes us deep into the experiences of someone else.
