What will it take to find real happiness? Despite being the daughter of a clergyman with a strict and joyless attitude to life, Helen Merling has a loving heart and a happy nature. However, when she is seduced by a travelling actor, a handsome rogue she meets at the market, they are forced to marry, and Helen’s family disowns her.
After several unhappy years, Helen and her husband escape to Europe, but their fortunes take a turn for the worse, and soon Helen is alone and responsible for both herself and their son.
Two years later, in the picturesque Italian town of Serugia, Helen meets Charles Carnforth. An older man, he falls deeply in love with her… but he’s not the only one trying to win Helen’s heart. Can a new romance find its way into her life, with all the complications and turmoil that brings?
Seasons of Love is both a remarkable story of a woman fighting for her independence and a deeply moving saga that will tug at the heartstrings. Penned by one of Britain’s best-loved novelists, Anna Jacobs, it is ideal also for fans of Gill Paul or Kitty Neale.
Anna Jacobs has 87 novels published as of April 2019. She writes historical sagas and modern novels alternately, and in the past has written historical romances and fantasy novels (the latter as Shannah Jay).
She's addicted to story-telling and writes three novels a year. You can find a list of books and series on her website at www.annajacobs.com
Anna reads 3 novels a week. Happy reading, everyone.
What a lark! I knew the baby was going to be a girl. I have to say though what a disappointing life Helen led, the poor dear. I was so u happy for her and when she met Daniel Carnforth I couldn't help but to hope he was her happy ending. Too much disappointment in her life I say.

Excellent writing. Loved this reading. Couldn't put this book down. I love a good love story, it was more than just a good love story. It had many surprises. Great ending
This author always writes a good story i like the way Anna describes all the characters in her books. The people in this story were all different Helen father was a horrible person and him being a man of the cloth she had a bad start to her life her first husband was a gambler who left her with no money ,but then to meet Charles so different he looked after her and her son and made her happy it was sad that she lost him so quickly and for her son.Glad it all worked out in the end.
It goes to show in this beautiful book how people are hypocritical,And judgemental, here was lady that was sadly beaten and spit at by others .the story is truly lovely it makes you think how easy travel is today compared to then .I really enjoyed the book anna jacobs is an excellent author it goes to show how gossip can damage if listened to some people thrive off ,we all saw in this book how the lovely little boy suffered at the hands of others cruel words another not put down book.
I enjoyed this book set in the 1800s. A clergyman’s girl tarnishes her good name by falling in love with an actor. Over time she learns of his true nature and dedicates her main focus on her child and learns that she has to make a living with her husband’s gambling and thieving ways.
It is about a young woman who in those days would never dream of becoming independent and also fought for her nearest and dearest at all costs.

The story of Helen’s hard times ending in love would have been brilliant to carry on with the story of Harry. To continue to see how the estate was brought back to life, how Harry and his sister grew up and went into the world. Was such a wonderful story that with the amazing writer Anna is could bring to life.
Well couldn’t put this down another wonderful story from Anna Jacobs Definitely recommends this book and any books by her you never want to put them down whether it’s a standalone like this or one of her many sagas Fantastic
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all of Anna Jacobs books. I am now reading some of them for the second time and enjoying them just as much. This one is different.
Really enjoyed this book. Some good characters well written. An easy read when you just want a really good read and not looking for intellectual stimulation. Great holiday read
A story quite a bit different to her usual. Very Enjoyable. I think I now have read all her stories, not short stories though. Many I have read two or three times, some are on their fourth reading. A bit like comfort food I suppose. I mix her books up with the new releases in the Library, some of which are unreadable, so there is always an Anna Jacobs on the shelf to take to bed, some keep me going till the birds are singing in the morning.
I admire how the main character, Helen, must face many challenges in her life. I also enjoy how she grows wiser, and despite hard things in her life, as a wife, as a mom, as a provider, she manage to overcome them. She's not a superwoman, she's just a regular woman thrown into hard conditions and somehow like it or not she has to go through them gracefully.
A pleasant romance novel. The heroine goes through multiple marriages in varied mileus, all of them well depicted; the conclusion in which she finds True Love is probably the most generic and to me the least interesting/convincing, but even here there is an unusual twist.
