Harper defends her rapist, who is charged with murdering his father-in-law.

This is the first case that she's wanted to lose...

Harper must deal with a dark part of her past when she defends her rapist, Michael Reynolds, who is charged with murdering a judge. Harper wants revenge, so she takes the case with the explicit desire to throw it. But as she digs deeper into the case, she understands that if she throws Michael's case, it means that the real culprit will go free. Struggling with her conscience, which is fighting for her desire for vengeance, Harper must access some of the darkest recesses of her brain.

As she digs in deeper into the case, she finds a conspiracy that goes to the highest level. She's not clear, however, if Michael Reynolds is also involved.

Harper wants to see Michael convicted, even though he's her client. If he's not involved in the murder, can she try to throw his case anyhow? Doing so would go against her conscience and ethics.

But it would also set her free...

I am hooked on the Harper Ross Legal Thrillers, I found this book to be very interesting, I can't imagine being an Attorney and defending the man that raped me 20 years earlier-this was a great book and one that is hard to put down.

Second book just as good if not better than the first!!!!

I just finished this book and was given this ARC to read and give an honest review. This is the second book in this series. Harper Ross is a tough criminal defense attorney with a complicated past and current issues that I felt were written in a real sense. I don't want to give a lot away but I will say that this character is very well written, very well developed and you feel her struggles and her pain. You want to root for her and you want to feel satisfied when previous injustices are righted. I can't wait to read the next installment. Hope it is already in the works as I will be impatiently waiting to see what happens next.
