The Soldiers Are Coming! Safe Haven has grown too powerful to be ignored any longer. The remaining government wants all survivors secured for their own use or eliminated, and they couldn't have chosen a better time to reemerge from their dystopian holes. Safe Haven has a new leader and a long list of challenges to overcome in their fight for survival. Adrian's condition is critical, the camp isn't ready to accept the existence of magic, Mother Nature still has them in her crosshairs, and they are low on food, water, and fuel. The next eight weeks will be the hardest they've gone through yet, and it may still not be enough to ensure their survival. Can they bring the pieces together in time?
Book 1 was good. Getting to know the characters, good and bad. The story line of life after war started off good. However, in Book 2 I was ready to slap Angela down. Her heroics and steel attitude became a bit tedious. By Book 3 I was fed up with the weaknesses of the men; grown men acting like the only brain they had was inside their pants. The base story was lost amid sexual tensions, especially with 14 year olds in the mix, men and women fighting over sex. Surely most men in the world can live their lives without their minds fixated on their penises. Is that what life after war would be like for this author? I can't even finish Book 4. It's like a badly written soap opera. Not a series I could recommend.
Enjoyed this as usual, though it is going in unexpected directions and the magic is more and more open. Not totally sure about that. More typos etc than I remember seeing in the previous books. It pulls you out of the story.
It took a bit to get back into this because there are so many characters and it's been a while since I read book 3 .... but I was mesmerized and I devoured it.
