Fractured is the third book in the Arc series and for me, it was the best one yet! Elle's journey continues right were we left off in Talented and we get to discover lots of new (and scary) sides of this dystopian world.

Again the writing style was fluent and the story easy to follow, and even though these books are rather short, they make for entertaining reads without feeling like they're missing any important parts. The pacing was great, there was always something going on and I wanted to know more.

In some ways this book was very predictable, but I guess if you've read some ya dystopias you've read them all. Still, I wasn't bored or anything.

The characters again develop farther in this book, at least Elle does and I also liked Beth/April' character. Sebastian felt a little flat, and why for God's sake do the main characters in ya novels always have to fall for each other?! Why can't they just be f r i e n d s ?
A character I missed during the first two thirds of the book was Hunter, and when he finally reappeared I was pretty shocked tbh. I hope there will be more of him in the conclusion though, even though he kinda turned into the bad guy.

So while I have some minor complaints I still enjoyed Fractured very much and I'd definitely recommend the series for any fans of the ya dystopian genre! Solid 4 stars :)

Good

This is the best so far in the series. The characters rounded. Plot defined. A few plot twists. Three and a half stars.

After enjoying Tainted, and practically devouring Talented, I started reading Fractured right away. Unfortunately, I don't think it does the other two books justice.

First of all, there didn't seem to be much of a plot. For half the book Elle is stuck in hospital, and for the other half things are happening so fast that it was hard to keep track of what was going on. It didn't help that there were several new subplots introduced, as well as the old ones.

My pet peeve about this book was that it drove me crazy how little description there was of the numerous tests which Elle was subjected to. There were a couple of tests (an eye injection and an MRI) which were described in meticulous detail, but the rest of them had no other description than basically, "the doctors ran tests on me". This happened time and time again, and I just wanted a little bit of description about those tests. Were they blood tests? IQ tests? Math tests? Or what?

I also never really got the thing about Elle losing her memory. There didn't seem to be much point to it, except to confuse the reader.

On the positive side, though, I loved it how, thanks to her stay in the hospital,

Overall (and I hate to say this), I think Fractured was a let-down. But fortunately it's not the last in the series -- there's one more to come -- so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Book 4 will offer a satisfying conclusion to the ARC series.

I received a copy of Fractured by Alexandra Moody in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely adore Alexandra Moody and her ARC series. Elle is exactly what a heroine should be. She is strong, brave, intelligent and even though at times she does have help she is very independent. Some of the scenes and trauma Elle goes through in this book had my stomach dropping and i found it impossible to put down my kindle. Fractured is an amazing continuation in this fantastic series and each book just keeps getting better. There are a few possible romantic possibilities and I have to say i do have my own favourite for Elle's happy ever after. However, I love that the story doesn't revolve completely around romance as if you were in Elle's situation the first thing on your mind should be survival. I cannot wait to see what comes next in the series as Elle and all the rest of the characters certainly have a war coming and nobody knows who they can trust.

I really do recumbent this fantastic book as well as the rest of the series.

Eh...

I feel like all the YA authors I have been reading in the past few years are just stretching what could be one really good book into 3 or 4 "okay" books. At this point in the story, book 3, I have spent $12 to read the same storyline over and over. I am not even interested in book 4 and will not be purchasing it.

No suspense

I couldn't read anymore. It's so slow. I love books that make you antsy...jumping up. Sitting up...being as the edge of your seat. I love to laugh, cry, get raged. No emotions at all.

This installment was so much better than the first two. While Elle continues to annoy me, I am seeing some evidence of growth with her character. She wasn't quite as selfish as she was in the previous books. Small miracles, I suppose.

But...here's where I totally lost control...

WTF HUNTER?!?! I mean, I had a feeling that something about him was off, but I definitely was NOT expecting THAT!! It doesn't completely add up, so I'm hoping that maybe he was somehow brainwashed or something because I really loved his character. **CRIES** I can't handle the thought of an evil Hunter. Nope!

What bothered me even more about this turn of events is that apparently April (Beth) knew all along who Hunter's father was--and she never said anything? Why? That's not exactly something a person--let alone a member of the resistance--should keep to themselves.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if April is the mole. It's just too convenient that she was the one who took them to the headquarters, leaving M and the camp unprotected. And sending Elle and Lara down the very hallway where Hunter was? Yeah, much too suspicious.

As for the other characters, I am a tiny bit miffed that Will didn't make it. I didn't expect him to, but I still hoped. I would have liked to see more interactions with Kelsey, particularly since she seems like a precog. I wonder if she sensed the "bad man" before he showed up, or that Will would die, or anything that could have helped. I'm a bit wary of the Aiden/Jane duo--they're still a bit of a mystery.

I'm also still not convinced of Sebastian's intentions. He's too clingy, and after his initial reaction to being talented and "elite" in the North, I find it hard to believe that he would just change direction so quickly--even if his love for Elle and April was part of his change of heart. Plus, I'm still wondering what what up with him and Chloe. That was completely dropped from the equation. Elle seemed to forget all about it (hmmm). For someone who was so jealous of Chloe in book 1, and then to find out that she was a part of Sebastian's new life in book 2, it just doesn't feel genuine that Elle would let it go.

Anyway, this book picked up the pace a bit which I enjoyed. I've been waiting for a bit of the resistance that is usually hallmark of dystopian fiction. I would like to see more where it comes to their politics and inner workings though.

On to book 4!

I can't remember the last time I was so excited to turn a page simply to find out what happens next. This series has elements which are both realistic and disturbing; at the same time, though, Elle Winters, the heroine demonstrates her resourcefulness in defeating and overcoming the "tests" aka experiments that are being inflicted upon her.....all to satisfy some maniac's lust for power. That story line could easily have been drawn directly from our own Earth history - just think of all the dictators who have come and gone. The so-called "Recruiters" could have been based on Germany's SS or Gestapo circa 1933~45; just with some extra "talents" thrown in! Who says truth is stranger than fiction?
I am going to wait a couple of days before tackling "Destined" as I have to bug a certain stepbrother while he's trying to watch "his" NFL Sunday games. Evil manifests in many forms!

This was definitely the best book in the series for me. I just didn’t like the helpless air that Elle put out and how she didn’t really think things through. Also, having the plot be her chasing after a boy was kind of weak. Even though we do love that boy.
Let‘s talk about Hunter. WHAT THE HELL HUNTER! I was shipping him with Elle so hard and then he turned around and pulled this s***. I trusted you!😭 At 4 am I was cursing him out for this.
Okay, Will‘s death was not what I needed at 4 in the morning. I was crying so hard and I was still shook from Hunter’s betrayal.
Here‘s to hoping the next book is just as good!

Compelling, engaging and hard to forget! This series has been really good on several levels! My only complaint it the occasional, mild language. Otherwise, excellent series! Both intriguing and suspenseful, great cast of characters and plot line! Not sure where this will all go and that is thrilling! Too often you can figure things out and this series will keep you guessing!

Really looking forward to the conclusion in Book 4 (out in 2016)! The wait seems so long!

The title fits this part of Elle's journey perfectly. Throughout the previous two books her adventure has taken her through major ups and downs and revelations hard to stomach. Through it all she remains as strong as she can and finds herself turning into a leader to help others and herself out of a terrible situation. Another home run for Alexandra Moody in my opinion this was a five plus star read.

A stunningly great 3rd book

Usually by the 3rd. Book in a series it has a bit of trouble with the story line and staying fresh with the characters, not this book. It was fabulous! I've finished the first 3 books in one week and as soon as I'm finished with this review #4 is waiting on me! Highly recommended.

Great Story

I had doubts about reading this since its a young adult novel. This is a great story even for old as heck adults like me 😂 The characters are great and you easily get drawn into the story. The story itself is very unique and very interesting. I haven't been able to stop reading since I started the series.

Splintered.

Broken.

Reborn.

This book pushes Elle to test the beginnings of her limits. Newfound talents are not the only issues she struggles to face. Great book. Can't wait to dig into the next one.

Fast-paced action

Hidden talents, vicious experiments, double motives, secret agendas... Elle doesn't know who to trust. And she most certainly can't trust herself, after what they have done to her.

Well this book definitely took a turn with a big shift in tone and setting. I didn't much like it at first, but it grew on me. Some majorly sinister things start to go down, which I loved.

Having read three instalments in the ARC series, I can now say that with Alexandra Moody's books, they maintain at a stable level during the first three quarters but tend to have gripping climaxes and fascinating endings. What is so excellent about Fractured is how utterly unpredictable it is and that it's almost impossible to see what is coming. The plot is more complex and better thought out than that in Tainted and Talented, and the science fiction aspect is turning from being hackneyed and plain to the point where it is realistic and even haunting. The talents the doctors engineered Elle Winters with are incredible; in fact, they're so badass they're overwhelming Elle and she's having immense difficulty harnessing it. I had been wishing Elle might develop-or if not develop, then obtain-special talents since reading the second book, and I'm glad she finally did! Personally, I've always loved the concept of glowing sparks and electricity, the generation of sheets of ice, and hovering objects, therefore in my opinion the kinds and varieties of supernatural abilities Elle is capable of are truly wonderful! To be honest, Hunter, Lara, Sebastian, Joseph, Soren, and pretty much anybody mentioned in Hope City who has a talent all possess gifts I adore. The part where April teaches Elle to control her powers and focus on her different senses is awesome! It's engaging and my favourite part in the novel.

There has been an increase in the number of plot twists in Fractured, and some of them may surprise you-I know I was surprised. For instance, I never expected Hunter to backstab Elle, or Aiden to realize the meaning of the symbol of the long stick joined to the triangle, or Dr. Wilson to lose his memories and turn deranged, or M to be taken, or Elle to speak to her best friend Quinn again, or poor, good-natured Will to die from the clinic fire. I was horrified at Hunter's betrayal because I happened to develop an interest in the guy in the previous book due to his frisky, coquettish personality. I thought Hunter was better than that, he seemed to be such a great guy in Talented, somebody you could count on. I never knew he had evil intentions. But it was a very nice twist nevertheless. I am beginning to really like April, now that her true reason for giving Elle the cold shoulder when she first arrived is revealed. In Fractured we get to see the sides of April we never got to see in Talented. She's strong, caring, protective...and quite clever, actually. I'm impressed by the amount of knowledge she has on how the different sectors in Hope City operate. I seriously don't know what situation Elle would be in right now if it wasn't for April's guidance. Oh, and she abandoned her fake name, Beth! Yes!

The only problem I have with the two sequels to Tainted is Alexandra Moody did not revisit facts previously introduced in the first book unlike in most novels. For example, she referred to Lysartium a couple of times but I can't quite remember what that is (I still don't recall what it is and cannot find the definition in the first book). Also, when Elle made contact with Quinn in the ARC, it would've been helpful if the author explained or went over who Quinn is and how close she is to Elle again. As a result of the lack of reminders, I found it hard to get into or adjust to certain bits and pieces of the chapters. Overall, Fractured is a great book with a well-created plot. It makes me crave for what's going to take place next in Elle's journey in the following instalment.
