The comprehensive history of the beautiful Ojai Valley complete with profiles of early pioneers. A lovely book for anyone who knows the Ojai Valley and a genealogy for many.
What a disappointment. I live in Ojai and wanted a sense of its history. Instead, this is a tedious listing of a paragraph about one early family followed by a paragraph about another family. Marketing ploy? I don't know, but it's certainly not interesting or readable history. And far from comprehensive.
Living here, I had learned that before the advent of irrigation, walnut groves graced the valley, because there were a good "dry" crop. I wanted to know more. This book doesn't concern itself with that. Too much history? I guess. Sad.
