Lucy: Sabre Short

Rate this book
Despite the initial obstacles, Ethan’s life had started out with promise. He could have been—would have been—great. The world had been his oyster, and all he had needed to do was take it ...

But sometimes, life doesn’t always go as planned.

When Lucy finds Ethan, he has fallen as low as one could possibly fall. It is simply a matter of time before he ends up dead in an alley somewhere, days passing before his decaying body is finally discovered.

No one would mourn him. No one would miss him. No one would care.

The world has long forsaken him, and he has likewise rejected them and all their pretentious self-importance. He has no interest in being saved by the likes of Lucy. Her elegant clothes and air of conceited affluence have no place in his life.

But when he eventually finds himself accepting the help he never actually realised he needed, another question arises …

Who was really doing the saving—Lucy or Ethan?

My name is Mason Sabre. I have been writing since I was a small child and discovered I could have a million adventures at the stroke of my pencil (I wasn't allowed to use pen back then). I have written more stories than I could even publish, some of them I wouldn't ever put out, but I have had a blast writing them. I love writing, I love reading. I love to have a fictional adventure. When I am not doing that I am with my children or studying. I have a lifelong love of learning too.

I live in the North of England. It's a little chilly here and a little wet, but it is what I call home and where pretty much all of my stories are based.

Woah.

Very surprising short that hit you right in the gut. I won't go into too much detail about the actual topic of the book, but it's basically about survival and forgiveness. The story will definitely take you on an emotional journey and most likely break your heart.

Five stars.

LOVED!!! This was different from the other stories by Mason Sabre. The emotions were raw and gritty. Yes...I cried! I couldn't help it. The story grabbed me and I could not help but become emotionally invested! Remember people! This is a short story, but that doesn't mean that it is not a fully developed story! This will leave you with a sad smile. It will make you feel that it doesn't matter how far off you have veered from your dream, you can always achieve it. You just have to overcome your fear and anything is possible!!

Lucy by Mason Sabre is a short story, that touches pieces of the heart that some may have thought they had lost. Ethan is a young musician that has lost his way in life and Lucy is an angel that may not have always done things right, but was determined to help him back on the path.

It hit my emotions like a roller coaster, as I have children and know lots of young people that have dreams and barriers to those dreams. Life doesn’t always come as we expect it, dreams don’t always come easy or the way we plan them.

This is one of the best short stories I have read in a long time. I would recommend this story for the young and the old.

WOW!! Mason, you did a fantastic job on this short story. Very, very sad, but beautiful. What a gift that boy got. If only the world could be like Lucy. The mistakes she made, but turned it around and did something magical for Ethan. Please read this, you won't regret it

FEAR IS JUST A STATE OF MIND!!

Loved, loved, loved this short story from Mason Sabre. Raw, gritty, downright nasty in places – but oh soooooo good. Beautifully told in true Sabre Style. I’m blown away. Drumming of tables – we want more – we want more!!!!!

Lucy is a beautifully written book that pulled on every last one of my heart strings. There is so much depth to this story and although it is a short read it packs one hell of a punch.
Highly recommended along with a box or two of tissues.

Lucy's Love Passed On

I think we have all been a bit of a Lucy in our lives. Afraid as Mothers to let our children find their path in case it didn't work out. Afraid to allow our children to feel disappointment if this or that didn't work out. We over compensate and believe we are protecting them. When it turns out what we do is prevent them from feeling. And then learning. Finding a path on their own and figuring out how to fix it themselves. Good or bad. Lucy's nightmare is a Mothers biggest fear. But she finds an ally in the un-likeliest of people. And although we rarely know God's plan for us, I mean REALLY KNOW.........This plan has His handiwork all over it. Mason Sabre, Thank you for this Emotional tale. It was nakedly honest story of what goes on all too much right next door and a reminder to always let our loveliness 's thAt they are LOVED for whomever they are.

Paths cross, decisions are made and outcomes are always changeable.

There is something about how Mr Sabre writes his stories that draws you in, straps you down and sends you on a roller coaster ride of emotions, stepping off dizzy and drained but in a good way be it snuffling in to tissues.

A touching story well worth the five stars.

This was an exceptionally good book about life, death, drug abuse and family. Lucy's daughter a drummer in a band has died. Lucy is a doctor who had let her relationship weaken with her daughter Molly and now she wants, no she needs to find out more about her from the bandmate Ethan Rooke.
"They don't know where they're going, but damn, they're having fun getting there."
"The heroine was pulling my a** to the floor, and I was in no place to stop it. I could only pray that my head would have mercy on me at some point, and I could pass out and suffer through the cold turkey unconsciously."
"When Molly was sad, that was when her music was the greatest...but when she wrote about you, her music was beautiful."
Mason has penned a touching emotional story that I will not soon forget.

She could give him the one thing no one else could....

...at least not in the exact same way. This is a love story not weighed down by expectations or romantic confusion. I love short reads like this, that are able to convey so much feeling and satisfaction in a tightly bound set of words. Thank you for the wake-up call.

My Guardian Angel

Grief is handled in so many different ways. But worst when the person you love is taken to early from this world. A person you take every breath for, your first thought of in the morning and your last at night. The person who brings that calm and strength, who is that anchor. But it's worse when you're a drug addict spiraling down a path of destruction. Lucky for Ethan that Lucy pulled him off that path and steered him the right direction and get strong. Slowly she made him realize he was better than he thought and the possibilities endless. Such a different genre than what Mason usually writes but this brought so many years and reminders of days gone by. Mason so well done my friend. So loved it. Thank you so much for sharing.

A beautiful bittersweet story of life lived, life shared, life taken and life's moments together missed out on. A sad, but yet uplifting story of an Ex-Musician, Ethan, "Eath" that lost the battle of fame, drugs, and Rock & Roll to be a down and out has been of a gifted musical artist... And Lucy, a women trying to right the wrong with Eath before it's too late. I cried at the end of this book for the hope, if this comes from a true life, that whoever Eath may be,he has kept on living and has found his musical talent once again and is playing that beat once again.. I recommend this short story by Mason Sabre.

A very satisfying short read. I devoured this book from cover to cover, always wanting to know what was going to happen next. The opening page is very powerful. The characters are very three dimensional, very human, very real, and easy to get attached to. This little book will take you right through the spectrum of human emotions; from highs to lows, to somewhere in between. It will make you ask the question: Can the saved become the savior ?
I highly recommend this book.

This quick read might be tiny but let me tell you it doesn't lack in emotion. This story is full of all those same gut wrenching feels that this authors full length books provide. A story that will touch you. This story is proof that you should never give up.

I've already read this story twice; once for myself and once aloud to my husband. He said, "His writing is fantastic." To which I replied, "I know, what have I been telling you?"

So now I'm telling you, if you read only one of Mason Sabre's books, make it Lucy.

Ethan is mourning the death of his girlfriend Molly to a drug overdose. He is lying in squalor when a woman, who turns out to be Molly's mom Lucy, approaches him. He wants nothing to do with Lucy, that is until she promises to get him his next fix if he will share his memories of Molly.

How this story of grief spins out is amazing. Ethan is refusing to be "saved" by Lucy and Lucy, who could not save Molly, will not give up. Who will win this giant tug-of-war game?

Mason Sabre's excellent portrayal of the human condition is phenomenal. Knowing how much of himself he puts into his writing adds another level to the reading. However, you don't have to know a thing about the author to know that he has a true gift. Read Lucy. You will be better for it.

Once again I am in awe of Mason Sabre. He is able to write stories in multiple genres and each one is always exquisite. It was a surprise to his fans when he came out with the Sabre Short, Lucy. Lucy is an emotional tale of trying to make up for the past and correct mistakes one has made. Don’t say I didn’t warn you when I say you will need a box of tissues by the time you are finished with this story. Lucy is a truly beautiful story that will make you believe that you can overcome anything in life and not to give up on your dreams.

Mason has done it again, Lucy, is a Sabre Short. Short in page quantity as it leaves you wanting more, but definitely not short in quality. As always I am pulled into this Mason story, I could see and feel how heartbroken Ethan was when Molly was taken away from him, she was to young to die, he didn't want to be there on his own. Ethen was a drug addict, a drop out, nothing to live for. Lucy entered his life when he had got as low as he could go. Slowly she helped him to re build his life, to know that he was worth something, and that he had a lot to offer.
This is a very sad story, it really does pull at the heart strings, but also has a sort of happy ending for Ethan.
Read this book you will not be dissapointed, another 5* read Mr Sabre, Thank you

Mason Sabre has a way of writing that fills your heart. This story is of second chances for two souls who felt their chances had run out.
Ethan is in a drug-induced haze as he grieves over the lost of Molly. And Lucy, her mother, needs to make amends for not being there for her. Though he fights it, he accepts help. You will cry good tears for this hearfelt story.
