12 Shades of Surrender

Gevangen in passie

Rate this book

This was such a mixed bag for me. I enjoyed the first, fifth and sixth stories the most, though I think that's because the others had bugger problems. I was bored by the second short story and made uncomfortable by the fact the guy in the third story didn't understand 'no'. Then I DNF'd the fourth story before I even got to anything interesting because I couldn't bear to read about a woman who blamed her need to have an affair on the fact that she had an autistic son (that she hadn't even noticed was autistic for YEARS because she was a terrible parent).

I have to say that I am very disappointed in this book. I knew it was going to be short stories, I guess, I was just expecting more than they gave me. Out of 12 stories I really only enjoyed 3 of them. And I still wanted more out of those 3.

The Envelope Incident by Emelia Elmwood. It was good to see a women open up to her dirtiest fantasies I loved it and they were dirty.

Night moves by Eden Bradley. It was very short but I still liked it. It was funny how they met and ended up really into each other. It just proves how crazy fate works.

Going down by Saskia Walker. It was an immediate attraction for them I love that. But the only thing was I just wandered what happens after her 6 month stay?

But there is one that I don’t believe belonged in the book at all: Paris Affair by Adelaide Cole. It was about 2 married people having an affair and the guy, Oscar, has done it several other times. Then the end Valerie just goes on with her life and children, but the entire time Valerie is with Oscar she is complaining about her children. I really only read some of it I just couldn’t get through all of it. I don’t like affair stories whatsoever.

The other 8 stories were just okay. I either enjoyed it but wanted a lot more, I didn’t like how the story ended, or the story just bored me. Take your pick!

There's really no point reviewing this book, I obviously found it delectable. After all, I'm a little bit of a perv. Loved Seven Day Loan the best.

Nora and Daniels story was the best for me. As it says in the title Nora is loaned out for seven days to Daniel. Very short reads. All enjoyable though.

If you want an almost entire book on sex, filth, dreadful behaviour, this is the book for you. There is substance to all stories but it is based entirely on sex.

It's a book written by group of writers about steamy romance.

It has the best kink in the story.

I liked the 7 day loan more than others because it's so cute and that guy has a huge library.

Can't wait to read the next part unbound.

Didn't realise the book is actually a number of short stories, I have already read the TR one as it is seven day loan :-(

But am being pleasantly surprised by the second writer....keep you posted, at current the tension and limited filth is causing much anticipation, I hope it delivers! It delivered and I enjoyed although in places it felt like the story had been chopped and parts left out or skipped by 6 months which was a little odd.

Wasn't a fan of Taking her Boss, she doesn't fancy him but then she ends up agreeing....

A Paris Affair - meh, not for me

For Your Pleasure - Hot, and a fantasy I'm sure a fair few of us have, a long lost admirer strikes and it's delicious!

Chance of a Lift Time - Half way through and I'm immersed in it, only wish it was going to be a full story!

**Spoilers**

1) Seven-Day Loan by Tiffany Reisz. 5/5
I loved this story. It was beautiful. Plus there was a lot of humor, which I like so yeah, it really was an awesome short story.
And even though I get why Eleanor didn't stay with Daniel, boy, I wanted her to. I still do.
Update: After reading "The Siren" by Tiffany Reisz, I don't want Eleanor/Nora to be with Daniel. No, no, only with Soren ;D

2) Taste of Pleasure by Lisa Renee Jones. 4/5

3) Taking Her Boss by Alegra Verde. 2/5
I didn't like it. I didn't like the writing and couldn't care less for the characters. I liked Alex, but of course he wasn't the main character.
What really annoyed me was that in the beginning he wants to be the sub and then at the end he clearly is the Dom. Throughout the whole short story I got the feeling that he was the Dom or at least something close to a Dom, since I think it was poorly executed...

PLeasantly surprised, not a big fan of short stories.I discovered a few new new authors to check out - Anne Calhoun. I loved "Under his Hand",Emelia Elmwood & Alison Tyler.

You can always expect a good read with Eden Bradley, "Night Moves" was very hot. I really needed more details with Lisa Renne Jones's "Taste of Pleasure". And of course the main reason for getting this book was Tiffany Reisz.

Anybody not liking this anthology, do not quit until you read the last story "Seven Day Loan" which is my favourite and this was my third reading.

Well, this is the first time I read eroticism. The forbidden pleasure, I guess it has always been this way that people love what is forbidden and have a sort of hunger to get it. This is where cheating on your spouse is glorified and seen as sexy and all while the rest is boring, horrid and has no sense in it at all and nothing is done to recreate the pleasure and amusement in it. The question is: is this Art? What are the standards, criteria and limits of art? ... However, I gave two stars to the vocabulary in the book.

The other 6 stories in the "12 Shades of Surrender" books:
Seven Day Loan by Tiffany Reisz
Taste of Pleasure by Lisa Renee Jones
Taking Her Boss by Alegra Verde
A Paris Affair by Adelaide Cole
For Your Pleasure Elisa Adams
Chance of a Lifetime by Portia da Costa

Of course, Seven Day Loan is the only 5 star story, but the others were OK too. (Not A Paris Affair though: contains cheating which may upset people)

Some stories were better than others but I don't think it was worth buying for the one or two stories that were great. I was really looking for a new Tiffany Reisz story so when I got it- I realized I already read the story submitted to this book. A bit of a disappointment.

Several of the stories, I did not enjoy and I got the book for Tiffany Reisz. I guess it is my fault that it didn't check to see that her story was "seven day loan" which she has already released separately.

*New York Times* best-selling author Lisa Renee Jones returns with the third book in the sexy, suspenseful Careless Whispers series.

Passion burns fiercely hot between Ella Ferguson and Kayden Wilkens, the man who held secrets and lies in his hands, and then allowed them to fall into hers. But even though he has become her anchor - helping her recover from amnesia after finding her unconscious in an alley, and allowing her into his secret world - all is not what it seems. Kayden still has secrets, and pieces of Ella's past are still shrouded in the darkness of her mind, while the powerful man who hunts her will not stop until she is his. In this final, explosive novel in the Careless Whispers series, Ella discovers that while her life with Kayden didn't begin in that dark alley...it could easily end there.
