Crashing on your best friend’s couch is easy. People do it every day. But it’s hard when you’ve been crushing on them for months, and even worse when everyone they introduce you to already thinks you’re dating. Max finds himself pulling away from the expectations, but can Chase live up to his name and get what he wants?
A sweet and sexy short story about Max and Chase. Once again, pure romance just the way I like it!! Max is best friends with Carter from "Playing With Fate" - Admirals Hockey #1.
Ava Thorpe is a new author to me but she's already one to watch!
What?!!? That's it?? Where's the real ending?!!? *Sigh* ... I didn't get the point of this novella other than to rush us at warp speed through the sequence of events in terms of how these two got together o__O!! It was all so rushed and there were points in the story the author introduced but didn't elaborate on that made me wonder why on earth she introduced them in the first place, and the HFN ... holy shit, to call it rushed is a gross understatement!! I genuinely don't see what the point to this was ... I get that this was a NOVELLA, but dude, some blurbs have WAY more feeling and info than this novella had o__O!!
So yeah, we kind of know how these two got together in that we are now aware of the origin of their coupling [pun very intended] and that they are, surprise surprise, indeed together!! But the HFN ... it was a blurry rush and left absolutely NO feeling of satisfaction whatsoever! I mean, I KNOW they're together because they appear in book 1 ... I just thought we'd be getting something MORE!!
All in all, with that in mind, and as much as I would have liked to rate this much higher, this chapter was just "okay" for me :-/!!
A short freebie from Ava Thorpe (thank you, Ava!) about Max and Chase, who make a brief appearance in Playing with Fate (Admirals Hockey Book 1). There wasn't a whole lot to sink your teeth into given the length of this story but it was sweet and sexy nonetheless.
Bottom line: I look forward to reading more of this series and more from this talented author.
A Molly Lolly Review Four and a half stars! This was such a sweet short story. I adored Max and Chase. They were clearly wonderful friends and had a history together. The fact they both had feelings for the other and didn't realize it made it that much more endearing. Max was so twisted up with his feelings for Chase and trying to hide them he missed the signs. His obliviousness was kind of funny and added an interesting layer to the story. Chase was a sweetheart. He got as cozy with Max as he could without actually showing his feelings. That level of comfort he has with Max comes through clearly in the story. I adored the scene where they went to dinner at Chase's mom's house. These two end on a wonderful happy for now. There's so much hope and you can tell they're going to earnestly give a relationship a try. I would love a sequel to see how it goes for them.
Oh how I wish this were a prequel or a lot longer as it feels like the beginning of a really great book. Max has been hiding his feelings for his best friend Chase. I liked that it's actually Chase that makes the first move and pushed just the tiniest bit to get Max to be willing to give them chance. Adult read
loved this story but it cuts really short i am sad to see there isnt more. I hope the author will decide to write an extension perhaps on her blog or something
The story was great but slightly undercut by the fact that the author had a thing for question marks. I swear every other bit of dialogue ended with a question mark and it annoyed the hell out of me.
Sweet story about hockey mates who've had a crush on each other for years. When all of Chases family assumes they're together it finally comes out into the open.
What a sweet and sexy short story! It was awesome to get a little free story after finishing Playing with Fate. I'll be looking out for future work by this author for sure. I wanna know whats going on with Ash. I hope he gets a story one day...soon...very soon.
