Elise Phillips, a doctor in training, has successfully repressed her kidnapping five years prior. The only problem is...she has six and one half days to remember every terrible detail, or a total stranger will die. But to make matters even worse, in order to save this nameless woman, Elise will have to face something that scares her even more than death–intimacy.
Another paranormal romantic thriller, A Sinister Vision: Know This Much is True, the second of the Sinister Series, will take you even further over the edge of what you know to be possible and guide you right back out through the only way left...impossible.
Wake up. Open your eyes. Accept your assignment. ...The problem is not to find the answer–but to face it.
A multiple POV story that shows both the killer’s POV as well as his next victim and previous victim. Elise was previously kidnapped and almost killed but managed to survive. Her life goes on until one day when she starts to have visions. Visions that warn her killer isn’t done yet. If she can’t figure out what the messages are trying to tell her then she won’t be able to save his next victim from succumbing to a terrible fate.
Very creepy and suspenseful. The author wove in Elise’s background slowly enough that it helped to add to the uncertainty of what exactly she was up against. Plenty of mystery throughout and there was even a bit of romance in it.
Narration was well done though sometimes it was hard to distinguish one character from another.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
Well I decided to be special and read this out of order lol. Oh my I need to go back and read the 1st one by the lovely A. Nicky Hjort. This is quite a mind trip! This phrase comes to mind when I read this.....Lost As Alice. Mad As The Hatter. This is indeed true! This book is full of surprises and twist and turns with some great interesting characters to know. This book was a total mind fuckery (yup I make up words lol)
As I'm typing this while listening to Final Countdown which is so fitting as this book is just going to blow you away. It was not at all what I expected at all. I was quite impressed! Dark is a fun place to be. Highly recommend and just look at that cover it's amazing! I need more please of this while I read your other pieces of beautiful art.
I'll have to re read this because I tore through it the first time. I had to find out if Elise gets through it and how but I kept getting hit by new and fascinating stuff. I don't know how to describe it so I'll just say what I know for sure: it's grippingly readable, creepy, realistic, supernatural, at first I thought the med school sections were the worst nightmare ever but then things got worse... I really like Elise and Wendi and 'Jill' and Jolene and the creepy big bad is creepy and bad enough to satisfy anyone.
Ms. Hjort's books defy labels. Part paranormal suspense, part romance, they offer a wild ride. This book kept me guessing until the very end. If I could I would give it more than 5 stars.
I listened to the audiobook versions of this book.
I liked the idea of the story and think the author did a great job with the originality of things. It was fast paced and was intriguing as we see multiple points of views from all the important characters. There were some things that didn't make sense to me that could probably be cleared up with a second listen. I think Elise's background is somewhat confusing and I think less point of view switches would have made this less choppy. Overall, it had a good amount of creepiness and was suspenseful. I think I would have liked more of a connection to the characters.
A pretty good performance by the narrator but I would have liked a little more voice differentiation between characters and points of view.
I know this much is true: This book has seriously messed with my mind! Outstanding book! Dark, intriguing, suspenseful, mind twisting, grab you by your throat and pull you into a true nightmare kind of read! So well written with a truly twisted storyline that will not let you go until you reach the very end. These characters were very well written and truly complex.
Evil walks the earth and he strikes every year on the same date and same time. Jill was the first, but she go away, so every year he tries to get someone just like her to replace her and become his "Queen". This man, Kincade is truly twisted and no one knows just how twisted until you live through his hunt for his next victim.
I'm not going to go into the storyline as I feel that doing so would give too much away and you really need to read it for yourself to be able to grasp it.
