Some think our lives are controlled by free will, others by fate. Forever is a haunting story exploring a third—and horrifying—force.
Tom Cogan’s life is at a turning point. Doubts about the stability of his marriage and business spell midlife crisis. And then an accidental touch to the hand of a stranger, Annie Garrett, triggers a series of bizarre experiences. While Annie believes they’re having flashbacks of a previous life together, Tom’s not convinced. What neither knows is that a malevolent spirit has hijacked their lives—marking them for death.
Fearing he’s losing his grip on reality, Tom tells no one what’s happening to him. But by secretly exploring his link with Annie, Tom unwittingly draws his wife and daughter into the demon’s demented game of revenge.
With Tom’s turning point becoming a breaking point, he’s in a race against time to figure out what’s really happening so he can prevent the demon’s ultimate victory.
Linda Cassidy Lewis believes that life is all about relationships, and her fiction reflects that belief. Indiana born and raised, she now lives with her husband in California, where she writes versions of the stories she held in her head during the years their four sons were growing up. Her home is in the city, so she's thankful for the gift of imagination that whisks her away to sea or mountain or countryside whenever she wishes.
Forever by Linda Cassidy Lewis is a book I won from the Kindle scout program, I didn't know it was going to be like this. It had a blurb that sounded a lot better than the book. If you are into rape, sodomy, violence then this is your book. I am not. The only reason I didn't give it a one star is the other parts had decent writing style. This must count for something. Other than that, I would not recommend at all. Going in my 'worse books ever' file.
A married couple going through the empty nest syndrome are struggling to define their relationship and the way it's changed over the years. Cue the husband meeting a young woman who dazzles him, and you've got a classic setup questioning what you would do for love, and which of these loves is real.
Sounds like the plot to how many romantic comedies or dramas?
But this is FAR from your normal love story. And by far, I mean another universe, not merely the town next to yours.
Lewis dives deep, breaking the cliches of the genre and introducing unanticipated concepts to this triangle love story, ranging from past lives and psychic visions to dark and vengeful spirits. While there are possessions, rape, and other disturbing content, it was never gratuitous or over the top but rather there to serve the story.
What I found most interesting, however, was that as a reader I was never really sure which couple I should be hoping for. You felt the pain and yearnings on both sides, and Lewis does a great job of not interjecting her own judgement into the story but rather leaving it up to the reader.
For those looking for a different kind of love story, this certainly delivers.
Taut suspense tinged with horror and supernatural are what I found in Linda Cassidy Lewis’s new book.
Happily married businessman Tom Cogan sees a vision when his hands touch those of Annie Garrett, movie theater ticket girl. He’s later stunned to learn she saw the same vision of them in period clothing.
As their acquaintance grows, they come to believe they are the reincarnation of another couple, a couple with thwarted love. Complications abound as the plot twists and turns, leaving the reader anxious for them to find peace and happiness. But all is not as it seems, and Tom and Annie must battle an ancient evil before they find any relief.

This book was not what I thought it would be when I nominated it. I thought it would be a suspenseful book, but it's not. It is a VERY twisted story about an evil spirit that takes over another man's body and then makes a couple think they've been reincarnated and do and say things that they normally wouldn't... Sometimes it's hard to follow if it was Eddie making them do things or if they were in control... It's also pretty graphic sexually (rape, sex, sodomy)... Definitely wouldn't recommend this book to anybody I know.
*I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This book basically tells the story of two people who somehow connect because they knew each other in a past life. During that life a great evil separated them and is still bent on making them both pay. This connection causes all sorts of problems for the main characters. For example, Tom is married, so he sneaks around behind his wife's back to meet with Annie to try and figure out why they're both suddenly having strange visions. This book will appeal to lovers of horror, mystery and the occult as well as those people who enjoy contemporary literary fiction. It's sort of like Jonathan Franzen meets Stephen King which I found to be an interesting combination.
I enjoy fiction. I enjoy opening a book and being swept from chapter to chapter on the wings of a unique plot. Any book that takes me away from my everyday thoughts and places me in the middle of someone else's life is a successful novel to me. This book did just that and I found myself trying to schedule times in my busy life to get back to the story.
I liked the concept of this story, but I had a hard time making it through it. The build-up to the final events felt dragged out to me and went over the same things time and again. As it drew closer to the end, however, it got to the point where it didn't seem quite as predictable. Although not quite to my taste, I think it's a book others will enjoy.
5.0 out of 5 starsLove, Intrigue and An Evil Entity Make this a Must Read. By Judithhb on 2 October 2016 Format: Kindle Edition A new book from Linda Cassidy Lewis is always to be looked forward to. But here we have a new book in a new genre. I didn't know what to expect as this promised to be so very different from her other three books. But from page one I was hooked. It's a twisted tale about love at the wrong time and in the wrong place. Tom is the husband of Julie and their marriage is becoming strained. Then Tom meets a woman, Anie who is a cashier at a local movie theatre and to whom he becomes attracted . But soon he finds himself having flashbacks to happenings centuries earlier and finds that Annie is experiencing the same flashback. Linda introduces us to the evil entity who has moved into the body of a human intent on committing suicide. This entity is determined to re-enact the love triangle now played by Julie, Tom, and Annie who are not aware that they are caught up in this. While this appears complica
I actually was expecting a little more from the book when I nominated it on scout...Kinda like more suspense, that would have been great. I will tell you what I really liked about it. The several points of view of different characters which made me understand and empathize with them. That makes me like the author's writing. As for the story, I wished it made my heart race while I rooted for the characters, but it was predictable, the characters were predictable! I mean, a man torn between two women (one of them is his wife the other appears to him in visions of a common past) while being haunted by ghosts (one of them terribly evil). The problem is that we know who's the evil guy real soon as I just knew Annie's fate once he got to her and that kills it for me.
A book that will make you feel like you are reading a movie. As I read the book, I realized it would have been easy to get confused with people being possessed. But Linda's writing is so good and well organized that you understand every scene. Although I enjoyed author's writing style I didn't like the story as much. Overall a well written book.
This book had me hooked from page 1. I love a good haunting ghost story, and this was one of the best I've read. Anyone reading this review I encourage you to read this book. You won't be disappointed
I used to not rate my own books, but if someone else had written this one, I'd have to say all kinds of good things about it, so why not give it five stars?
