A six-week guided journey of learning to trust God with your deepest parenting questions. There's nothing wrong with good advice--but today's moms need so much more than that. We moms are crying out for true wisdom and strength that will teach us how to parent our kids well, and to help us navigate challenges and cultural issues previous generations never saw coming.
The Bible tells us that the beginning of wisdom is knowing the Lord. And that's right where the journey to becoming MomStrong starts.
Join Heidi St. John in this six-week Bible study based on her popular book Becoming MomStrong. Each week, you'll find stories from Heidi, Scriptural reflections, encouraging Bible verses, and prayer prompts to help train your own heart--and your kids'--to know Scripture, hold biblical values, discern true teaching, and develop godly character.
A great resource for churches, women's groups, or individuals, the Becoming MomStrong Bible Study will help you seek God's guidance every day in your parenting hopes, fears, struggles, and victories.
Heidi St John is a mother, a grandmother, and a wife of 25 years. She is a popular conference speaker, radio personality, author and blogger whose message of returning to God’s Word and embracing our ministry as mothers has resonated with several hundred thousand followers in social media, through books, and radio appearances. Her refreshingly transparent, vulnerable style allows her readers to identify with her and invites them to join as fellow pilgrims on a journey rather than idolizing the author as someone who has “arrived”. Her calendar regularly has her speaking across the United States over twenty times in front of audiences as large as 20,000. Heidi lives in Battle Ground, Washington with her husband and five of their seven children ranging from age kindergarten to adulthood. When she’s not writing, traveling or speaking she loves to spend time with her grandchildren. You can also connect with Heidi on Facebook and Instagram
Excellent book, so glad I got it to go along with the Momstrong book. However, I wouldn't call it a Bible study, though it does get you into the Bible a bit. More like a study guide. Also, I found it a bit frustrating that the weekly sections weren't split into daily portions, making it hard for me to find a stopping point as each week's study was too big to do all in one sitting.
I lead a group of moms through this study and through the Becoming Mom Strong book-- it was a great experience for all of us. While I absolutely loved the book, this study was one I only 'liked'-- it wasn't as in-depth of a Bible study as I typically like to do; however, it was a great compliment to the book and it made an impact to all of the women in my group.
“Motherhood is missional in nature, and for followers of Jesus, the mission is clear: to raise our kids to follow Him. The Bible tells us that we have an active adversary, the devil, and that the only way to be on guard against him is to know God and apply His Word to our lives everyday.”
This was a good supplement to the book, Becoming Mom Strong, overflowing with scripture and good discussion prompts ( I highly recommend going through this with some other moms). My only gripe is that at times she seemed like she was just trying to fill space and some of the questions were redundant or didn’t seem to go along with the study.
I liked the focus on self care and truth in a culture that wants to change truth. I did not like how controlling she sounded with her children and how she made some assumptions about boys and girls that aren’t always true. Overall a fairly good book, but there are much better books to read in this genre than this one.
This was fun to read with a new friend who welcomed me into her Bible study with her friend. I didn’t agree with everything written and felt like it was a bit too conservative/“Bible thumper” for my taste. But it did evoke good discussions and I’m happy for having read it.
As a brand new mother, it was hard to find a way to apply some of the questions geared toward older kids to my life. I think I would have had a more enriched experience if I would have waited until my son was older and read the book alongside the study.
Overall the study was an easy read & the concepts were simple to grasp. I appreciated how she highlighted fears, finding community & purpose as a mom. My favorite part was about surrendering your life to God, trading good for greatness. That definitely hit home for me.
I did this plan in 2017, and then I read the book straight through. I plan on buying another workbook this year to do the plan again, and then comparing them to see my growth. Heidi, thank you for this!!
This book was given to me by a friend. She had done it as a bible study. I don’t live close enough to join her for that but I think I would have greatly enjoyed that. I could have gotten more by having the study guide but it was still really helpful and encouraging.
Excellent study guide to go along with the book. I did about 4 pages per day to accomplish each week’s study and read a Proverb a day, as well, because I need more time in the Bible than what this study guide included.
Completed with my Radiant Moms group. I really enjoyed this Bible study. It was very thought provoking and I loved the connection to different women of the Bible each week. This pushed me to think of myself differently and encouraged me to in knowing that I am loved deeply by the Lord.
I loved this book!! Can’t say enough!! Great for any mother - new mom, toddler mom, teenager mom! You will not be disappointed; Heidi is a great encouragement in today’s world! Get off the bench!
I took this much slower than the intended 6 weeks (as usual). It was a helpful and Bible-led study, which is to be expected from a study based on a book - it’s more about what the author says that the Bible says than about studying the Bible itself. That said, it still did a good job of drawing the reader back into the Word, which is ultimately the goal. It is best to be done alongside the book, as it references the book a number of times such that I had to pull it back out and find what it was referencing in order to respond (I could have skipped those but then would have missed my feeling of completion…if it feels like cheating, it’s cheating! 😜) I think I’d recommend it to anyone not sure about what it means to be a mom who is strong in the faith.
