WINNER of the IAN 2016 OUTSTANDING Paranormal/Supernatural Book of the Year. A Demon's Obsession Knows No Bounds Rachel and Angelina Thrust are loving sisters, driven from their bayou home by the brutal murders of their parents. Although they believe they're safe, their enemies wait nearly a decade to deliver demonic revenge. The sisters' parents had been leaders of a religious sect who denounced the practice of using dark power. Because of their principles, they were betrayed and murdered by some in their clan. Rachel unleashes a firestorm on the mob which gives them time to escape. The sisters and their followers settle in Virginia where they find peace. That is, until Cesar. Cesar is the handsome, but insidious weapon called up from Hell by the sisters' enemies, the Trinity clan. Cesar is ordered to turn Rachel. Instead, he focuses his carnal desires on Angelina. He seduces, rapes and nearly kills the younger sister, which forces Rachel to use her dark gifts to save her sister's life. Angelina emerges from near death as a vampire/priestess/zombie hybrid with the blood of undead pulsing through her veins. Rachel agonizes over Angelina's unholy change. She sends her sister to her mentor and spiritual guide, Auntie. Rachel hopes that Auntie can restore Angelina's humanity. But no one foresees Cesar's unrelenting pursuit of Angelina. His lust evolves into an obsession. Angelina must fight to not only to regain her humanity, but also to save the lives and souls of those she loves from the demon, Cesar.
Rachel and Angelina are sisters.whose lives are going to head into a dark realm when Cesar steps into their lives and joins with Angelina in a dark, disturbing way that takes readers into a suspenseful journey of the supernatural. Interesting read that lovers of darkness and the demonic will find hard to put down. This si the first book I have read by this author and I found the writing style inviting.
This story steps back in time into what feels like a different world even though it is set in the south (Virginia and the bayou).
This is my first story by the author and I was sucked in from the beginning. Like an onion, there are so many layers to what is going on and the reader follows a pair of sisters deeper as they learn the depth of consequences their decisions hold.
This was an enjoyable read that had me racing to the end to find out what happens. I am looking forward to reading book 2.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author via Voracious Readers Only and WOW. Being a shorter read I was worried that it would suffer the rushed feeling that a lot of short stories fall victim to but the author did such a beautiful job of pouring details and reasoning behind everything that it was definitely not an issue. The characters are so full and well rounded, every one of them complex and thought out that the last page made me mourn the end of this part of the story. Truly an amazing read, and I will be looking for more from her.
This story was a bit hard to follow at times as it seemed to jump. I did enjoy Angelinas turmoil with herself to fight her darker side. The magic element was a great twist in the plot and made you keep guessing at the turn out. Allen's undying loyalty was adoring. Based on content this book is for 18+ audiences. I am an independent reviewer for Romance Authors That Rock and am giving this book 3.5 Hearts
I liked the story but found it moved rather slow. Cesar meets a lovely young lady Angelina and her world changes forever. I liked the characters but just wasn't drawn into this story. It was just to slow moving for me. It has a few steamy scenes and has vampires or a demon .
This book is all over the place, it's very hard to follow and I was lost multiple times. The storyline either had too much back story or not enough. Looking back on it I am still slightly confused about the over all story.
I really enjoyed the story. Yes, it does jump in places, but I it seems like it's from some editing issues. Why oh why does no one do a good edit anymore? I am such a grammar nerd. However, in this instance, I was engrossed enough in a very juicy story that I managed to overlook it.
An interesting read I found by chance. A great start setting up the series. The powers intrigued me. A short read, and definitely worth a read. I would consider continuing the series in the future!
This is a well-told story of Angelina's coming-to-power as a reluctant vampire. Come along for the ride. Her close relationship with her sister, Rachel, plumbs the depths of love, loyalty, aversion, and forgiveness. The setting in the US Deep South contributes to the tone of loss and estrangement both women feel. It also captures well how Angelina rises above her former doubt and denial of self. This short novel makes for an intriguing Book 1 to The Demon Lover's Chronicles series.
I started this book with hope that it truly was as good as The chronicles written by Anne Rice, but after so many terrible vampire books I have read lately,I didn't believe it was possible... However i thoroughly enjoyed this well written book. The story is about two sisters who after a tragedy ten years earlier. Had started their own clan.Rachel the eldest sister becomes the priestess.Whilst Angelina is just her sister! Until she happens upon a mysterious man who. Changed the life of both the sisters. Whilst all this is happening there is vampies ,Cajun magic.Fear and the passion of two men intertwined for the love of one woman.
Good story but a lot of the background information are either broken or jumbled. Several parts of the book seems to be missing information; jumping scenes. For example, when Angelina returned to her room, the room was empty, but somehow she ended up with Allen on her bed. How the he get there? He wasn't there before. Yet not only did Allen magically appeared, he was resting.. and eventually had sex with Angelina.... quite frustrating to have missing parts and jumping scenes in the same paragraph.
The elusive question of what is she remains. Drawn to the one that fed on her but loves another who stands by her and accepts her for all that she is and will become. Where will she end up and will she become what she was meant to be? Intriguing and will hold interest for those that love this genre.
