[…] like every man dying from the beginning of his days, I regret the things I didn’t do, and I regret the things I did.The Last Log of the Lachrimosa by Alastair Reynolds - 5/5★ (Read it HERE).
[...] greed. The only thing in the universe stronger than fear. The Seventeenth Kind by Michael Marshall Smith - 3+/5★
“[…] he probably fucking glittered by the time he showed up as a late transfer in school to take her breath away. She, of course, being the only girl this gorgeous hunk had eyes for.”Troublesolving by Tim Pratt - 2.5/5★

The words were just as I remembered them, but it wasn’t Nicole saying them.It was obvious from this point exactly how the narrative would proceed, with its protagonist ironically victim of the very concerns he voiced earlier on. It beggars belief (and I know it shouldn't) that a leading science fiction writer would rely on such hackneyed literary tropes in the year two thousand and thirteen after the birth of our Lord and Savior. However, I will give Chiang a few grace points for writing in a style whose lightness reflects the treatment of the content it depicts; it took all but a single half-hour session to blaze through.
