WOW! When I finished Dark Space III I said I was "Blown Away". I just finished Book IV - Revenge and I'm not sure if I've been "Blown-Up, "Blown-Back" or "Blown-Around". Whatever, it was exciting. This book provides a great answer to the "Where are we going?" question but hasn't addressed the "Where did we come from?" question. I'm hoping this will be addressed in the next book in this fantastic series.I hate review's that give away key events so I'll just say I'm very glad how some things turn out. I had hoped for something similar (like maybe someone didn't do what they were asked to do) but since the result was the same; I'm a happy guy. There are still a few questions I'd like answered like; What happens to the "Bad-Guys"? Are they forgiven because "It really wasn't their fault?" And, "If we are them and they are us...Do they go there too?" Confused, read the book. You'll be glad you did and also glad there's still more to come.
HERE'S Some of the "More to Come".
In prior reviews of earlier books in this series I used comments like: "Blown Away", Breathless", "Surprised", etc.. All of these still apply to Book Six and I'll add Shocked, Disappointed, Sad, Glad and Angry but all in a good way. This book will draw you in and evoke all kinds of emotion; it's much more than entertaining, it's Stimulating.
I also found myself asking which is better; doing the Right thing for the Wrong reason OR, doing the Wrong thing for the Right reason? I've finally decided (I think?) the Wrong thing can't be good. And the Right thing for the Wrong reason is like "THE ENDS JUSTIFY THE MEANS" which we all know (?) is not good ( I think. Yeah, I'm really not sure!)
There are so many twists and turns you'll be sure and, not sure what to think. This is NOT a "Cozy-Beach" read and you'll have to think while reading this book (Gasp). I enjoyed this series so much I'm about to put aside all other reading material and read this again starting with book one. I've done this with several James Michener, Stephen King, and Tom Clancy books and I expect this second reading will be even more enjoyable (and all the other emotions mentioned above) than the first reading. I've already recommended this to my three daughters who are working professionals with families because I believe it will be worth their limited time. Oh, yours as well.

Good but not great

I liked the core concept of this trilogy that is built around the idea of achieving immortality through the cloning of both body and mind. I am not so keen on where this is taken to in the course of the development of the storyline. The other issue that the technology raises is the problem of two versions of the one character developing differently in different parts of the plot. The book is split by physical location using pictures at the head of chapters to establish the location of the action in that chapter. Personally I found this helpful but not the complete solution for my problem.

However, I do not want my issues to dominate this review. The ideas are original giving the plot some twists that the reader is unlikely to anticipate. I like these books but did find them hard going at times. The trilogy is worthy of reading but at the risk of the reader becoming dissatisfied. If that happens to you then consider skipping to the final chapters to discover how it all worked out. You may then be motivated to go down the long path again.

This latter half of the series picked up speed. In the first trilogy I had some issues with some of the characters and what seemed like sexist attitudes. I rolled my eyes and kept reading. Fortunately a lot of the most sexist characters were just bad guys and therefore meant to be despicable.

This half of the series goes in a lot of directions and is hard to track at times. Lots of characters to remember and some of them in more than one place at a time - no further explanation on that, read it yourself to see what I mean. There is a bit of philosophy and creation mythology being thrown around in this series and I'm not sure how I feel ablut it. I'm sure there's even more symbolism I didn't pick up on, but no worries on that account.

Overall, this series ended stronger than it started. That's a good thing, right?

Great read

This is a great read and hard to put down. However,I found myself wishing the story would end. It was getting repetitive, just when it should be ending, another twist was added. Too many twists and turns to keep up with. I started skipping pages to get the series finished.

Who is God?

This series is fast-paced action with so many shifting views that it is almost overwhelming. However, it all works. Now I just have to figure out if what I believe to be real is!

A must read! The constant changing of what is right or wrong and what you think is right or wrong had me captured till the end.

I enjoyed this series. Since these books build on each other, and cannot really be read as a standalone, it is nice to have them in a set so you can easily start the next book. At times it seems like the wars will never end, and that humanity will not be able to live in peace. Keep reading though, because the end of the story is worth it.
