Matthew Cash, or Matty-Bob Cash as he is known to most, was born and raised in Suffolk; which is the setting for his debut novel Pinprick. He is compiler and editor of Death By Chocolate, a chocoholic horror Anthology and the 12Days: STOCKING FILLERS Anthology. In 2016 he launched his own publishing house Burdizzo Books and took shit-hot editor and author Em Dehaney on board to keep him in shape and together they brought into existence SPARKS: an electrical horror anthology, The Reverend Burdizzo’s Hymn Book, Under The Weather* Visions From the Void ** and The Burdizzo Mix Tape Vol. 1. He has numerous solo releases on Kindle and several collections in paperback. Originally with Burdizzo Books, the intention was to compile charity anthologies a few times a year but his creation has grown into something so much more powerful *insert mad laughter here*. He is currently working on numerous projects, his third novel FUR was launched in 2018. *With Back Road Books ** With Jonathan Butcher
He has always written stories since he first learnt to write and most, although not all, tend to slip into the many layered murky depths of the Horror genre. His influences ranged from when he first started reading to Present day are, to name but a small select few; Roald Dahl, James Herbert, Clive Barker, Stephen King, Stephen Laws, and more recently he enjoys Adam Nevill, F.R Tallis, Michael Bray, Gary Fry, William Meikle and Iain Rob Wright (who featured Matty-Bob in his famous A-Z of Horror title M is For Matty-Bob, plus Matthew wrote his own version of events which was included as a bonus). He is a father of two, a husband of one and a zoo keeper of numerous fur babies.
3.5 stars. This had a really great set-up and overall premise. I think that stories like this really mean a lot more to everyone post-COVID than prior. Our lead, Jacob, had a very cool introduction and journey. However, the pacing was too quick to establish proper context for the emotional plight and general experience of this man. Not that I disliked any part of how he was written, but it all just needed to slow down and let things simmer with the reader a bit further. I also had several questions, even after the short story was over, which drives me nuts. Again, I think any and all of the issues I took with this reading experience would have been easily resolved if it was a tad bit longer and more detailed, rather than just rushed ahead to satisfy certain plot points quickly. Still a good read from Matthew Cash.
How did the author even come up for this book premise? It’s pretty awesome.
Now, this is a pre Covid pandemic book about a potential pandemic. It’s a cool perspective reading it after living through an actual global virus outbreak!
Reading this book now in the time of Covid it makes me wonder what I would do if I had the chance to stop a pandemic. Fast paced sci fi horror that has the main character battling his morals to stop a deadly virus from wiping out the UK. A great story that will make you wonder what you would do.
Audible:This was a well written short story of plans gone wrong.I liked it! Gareth Johnson was a very good narrator.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.
This was a cool, quick, suspenseful read! I kept trying to think what I would do.. I have no clue but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Really enjoying Cash' writing style and would highly encourage others to check his stuff!!
One of my favorite Matthew Cash stories! This wickedly addictive thriller had me blowing right through it. It had such a unique and amazingly creative plot. I will definitely read again!
