Gamon Sakurai is a Japanese comic book artist from Tokyo. Born in 1986, Sakurai was selected for the Afternoon Magazine Four Seasons Award for New Comic Artists. Upon being selected for the award his short story was published and he was selected for editorial review by manga publishing giant Kodansha. Sakurai would make his publishing debut with indie publisher Issuisha in 2010, releasing a short story anthology. He would then work with Kodansha to work on his first feature length series AJIN: Demi-human in 2012.

The thing about Ajin is, it is fun, which is both it's bad and good aspect.

It is bad because there are no compelling characters so far and almost everyone is unlikable. The story is just wild "fun", a battle between humans and demi-humans, only waiting to know what happens in the story, but not to the characters.

It is good, because despite it's flaws, it's difficult to put the book down.

”Publicize this power through something like a terrorist attack and just watch what happens. Things will get really scary. Every man and woman in Japan will support a demi-human hunt. That would be when we’re really done for.”

Nah, because the ending of Ajin: Demi-Human Vol. 4 was actually crazy as fuck.

In this volume, we’re back to the action. In Vol. 3, I wanted that fulfillment— and I definitely got what I asked for. The beginning of Vol. 4 still focuses heavily on Mr. Sato, now joined by some of his demi-human recruits. But when a pair of fellow demi-humans don’t agree on his plans of mass murder and domestic terror—chaos ensues.

Vol. 4 is all about ajin vs. the government, as we dig even further into the divide. Both the government and reader are learning more facts about IBMs, too. I’m slowly understanding the demi-humans and their strange counterparts. It seems like the government’s key to taking down and controlling the tiny population of demi-humans, is to learn all about IBM and its power— as well as its disadvantages.

And if you’re looking to read more about Kei Nagai, he’s barely in this one— but we do get to meet another new, young demi-human named Ko Nakano.

After Ko finds Kei in hiding, things quickly go left upon their meeting. I didn’t expect Kei to be such a bully— yikes. Maybe this hints at what was revealed about his character in the previous volume. Though it seems like things are off to a bad start between the two boys, I’m excited to find out if they will come together to take down Mr. Sato. Ko is definitely the demi-human who is absolutely against Sato’s destructive plan.

I’ve yet to be disappointed when reading Ajin: Demi-Human, but many times, I’ve felt left in the dark with it. I’ve got to see how this unfolds.

Will the government or the demi-humans win this vicious battle? Stay tuned.

This series is becoming incredibly captivating. The stakes are rising as a faction of Demi-Humans begins to unite with the intention of attacking human society. However, it's evident that not all of them share this goal.

At the same time, Kei has found solace in isolation, leaving his role in the unfolding events uncertain.

Me da un poco de rabia. Es muy buen argumento y muy buenos diálogos. Sin embargo, la mitad de personajes no me caen nada bien, sobretodo el protagonista (Izuma es la única que se salva, por el momento). Es cierto, Kei Nagai no es el típico protagonista de manga sino más bien un ser bastante despreciable y que llega a ser otro antagonista más de esta historia, pero cada capítulo que pasa tengo ganas que desaparezca, por lo menos...

Alguien me comentó que la serie va mejorando, espero que sea cierto. Sigo aunque sea a paso de tortuga...

اگر شخصیت اصلی محترم طی یک حرکت پشم‌ریزون ظرف 24 ساعت از این رو به اون رو نمی‌شد و دچار مکاشفه‌ی نفس یکم کمتر ضایعی می‌شد؛ خیلی راحت به این ولوم 4 می‌دادم. داستان جالب شد. انگار نویسنده سبک خودش رو پیدا کرده باشه و درست ازش استفاده کنه. تصمیم گرفتم تا آخر بخونمش. نظر نهاییم (چون خیلی آدم مهمی هستم و ادامه‌ی حیات صنعت مانگا به‌نظر من وابسته‌ست) رو روی ولوم آخر می‌نویسم.

With Kei out in the boonies for a while the story focuses on Sato and his plan to raise Cain to draw people’s attention on the Ajin’s situation and woe to whoever stands in his way, Ajin or not.
Considering the last pages of this volume no one can doubt that his plan shall succeed.

After a violent introduction- where we discover new Ajins, including Nakano- the series slows down a bit to prepare the flabbergasting conclusion but the reader gets hooked on what’s going to happen next anyway.

There is no particularly sympathetic characters to root for- Kei is a cold-hearted sob- but Sato and his machialevical plans steals the show.

Sakurai clearly likes spread pages and fisheye views and gives us again a few impressive ones. The main action scenes (the old factory, Nakano’s building) are brilliant while the in-betweens are never boring.

Imposible parar de leer. Sumamente adictivo, con acción por doquier, con personajes muy bien desarrollados.

Las temáticas como discriminación y el modelo capitalista mundial esta demasiado presente en la historia.

Satou es brutal, haciendo que surgan dudas de porque el es asi. Espero poder descubrirlo en los proximos volumenes.

Las últimas paginas fueron de demasiado suspenso, mezclando una intriga de lo que sucederá en el siguiente volumen.

Por ultimo, y curiosamente, tengo un especial odio hacia Kei xD. Siendo el protagonista. Aunque Satou sea de lo mas cruel y cínico cae un poco mejor.

Shiiiit! They went there. Sato gathering the Demi-humans and starting a war. Not sure I like Kei. There’s brief moments where he could be good and then it’s back to deadpan logical. I feel sorry for the kid that found him.

This was fairly entertaining, I'm not particularly attached to this manga, it's fun and I like the monsters-looking-like-humans vs humans conflict and everything that follows.
The art is okay, the cast of characters consists almost entirely of awful people. It creates rather interesting story but I'm not attached to any of them, I don't care when they are killed or tortured.

I already have vol. 5&6 in paperback so I'll be reading them soon and afterwards, we'll see.

AJIN: Demi-Human, Vol. 4 (My Kindle Review)

It looks like Nagai isn’t the only demi-human trying to keep out of the authorities’ sights as we follow others with their own morals and one ends up finding him at his hideaway. But it also looks like some are working for the government as they are still hiding what’s really going on and the volume ends with a shocking crash. A- (91%/Excellent)

Kei - I don't know. On one hand I understand him and get his need to protect his safe space but on the other hand? He's getting more unlikeable. *sighs*

I wonder what happened to Kai. Is he still looking for Kei? Did he give up? Did something happen to him?

We start to see the demi humans more and they start to build or threaten the govt with certain plans. We see the initial planning. I just found there was an over abundance of talking without much progression. The ending was messed up. Probably not enough story at this stage for me to continue. Will put it on ice.

Baru kali ini menemukan protagonis yg betul2 menjengkelkan. Sungguh. Dengan sikap dan keegoisannya itu masihkah bs disebut protagonis.

製薬会社の話はアニメとぜんぜん違う！アニメのほう見てたときに『何か複雑な』と思った。やっぱ漫画のほうはシンプル。

一つのへんなポイントあるけど。圭のＩＢＭは個人的に動いてるでしょう？佐藤さんはそれを見て自分のＩＢＭに訓練したので個人的の動きはおかしいのことをわかる。他のＩＢＭはパソコンのように命令を出せば命令にしたがて働くかな？それがほんとうなら、どんな命令使いながらＩＢＭの集合を立てたの？結構難しいでしょう？

A protagonist is Kei Nagai and an antagonist is Sato. I thought Sato is also protagonist at first because he is Ajin. But they are rivals. There are some spread pages. A spread page isn’t often appeared so I’m happy when I find it.

Beberapa halaman belakang benar-benar luar biasa!!!
Awal bulan depan volume 5 terbit jadi gak perlu menunggu berbulan-bulan untuk tahu apa yang selanjutnya akan terjadi.


Ternyata si Ajin yang bisa terbang itu adalah Nakano. Dan dia sudah bertemu dengan Nagai tapi Nagai sepertinya “akan membunuh” Nakano ini. Tapi semoga saja gak. Semoga mereka berdua bersatu untuk melawan Sato.
