A pair of Doms discovering an eager submissive… and room for more.
A long time couple losing hope for their marriage… and finding it again with the help of the man they both love.
An abuse survivor learning to love again… thanks to his best friend and his husband.
Trios may not be the norm, but for these men, the answer to the equation of love just might be three.
This collection features three full-length novels – Out of Focus, What He Left Behind, and Hiatus. These novels were previously published, and are also available individually.
L.A. Witt and her husband have been exiled from Spain and sent to live in Maine because rhymes are fun. She now divides her time between writing, assuring people she is aware that Maine is cold, wondering where to put her next tattoo, and trying to reason with a surly Maine coon. Rumor has it her arch nemesis, Lauren Gallagher, is also somewhere in the wilds of New England, which is why L.A. is also spending a portion of her time training a team of spec ops lobsters.
Authors Ann Gallagher and Lori A. Witt have been asked to assist in lobster training, but they "have books to write" and "need to focus on our careers" and "don't you think this rivalry has gotten a little out of hand?" They're probably just helping Lauren raise her army of squirrels trained to ride moose into battle.
I liked all three of these short stories but the very last one really truly moved me. That storyline of someone being so afraid to be in a relationship kinda struck a chord on me. While I haven't experienced the same things Michael did, I know the feeling of having your brain manipulated into believing lies about yourself because people have told you them so many times it has to be true. I love how he and Josh and Ian were able to form this bond between the three of them. While it might not be conventional or acceptable in mainstream society, it worked for them and it helped him heal. This was such a beautifully written story of polyamorous love.
Three stories about threesomes, which I think are all available individually too. And my reactions to them were so different.
Out Of Focus was brilliant, I loved it, there was some great sexual tension that made my breath hitch and I really enjoyed it. 4 stars for this one.
Hiatus on the other hand I didn't really enjoy. For me it was one long, whiny, angsty, "but it's not my fault", refusal to talk, fuck up of a relationship that left me wanted to shout at all of them. Frankly 2 of the main characters were so annoying I didn't really feel they deserved a happy ever after. 2 stars.
What He Left Behind fell somewhere in between, 3 stars, bog standard, readable, nothing amazing. The story, lets face it, was a bit far fetched (not the set up maybe, the trauma felt believable, but the therapy solution I couldn't suspend disbelief in).
So, all in all, 3 stars for this collection of three very different stories. (Bonus points to the author for having such a variable writing style that I can love and hate I guess, maybe there's something for everyone here).
I love menage romance, but these three are different from the almost formulaic stories that are so prevalent. These three come at it from a different angle - a married couple who like to play w a third and unexpectedly fall in love, an established triad going through rough times, and a married couple who reach out to help a friend, with unexpected consequences. All three were handled well, and something I’ve rarely seen before is some of the very real and very difficult conversations that all parties would need to have to make this kind of relationship work. While there’s definitely some hot s*x, these stories are really about the relationships.
Let me start by saying I have read a number of books by this author over the years. Maybe it’s me changing but although I still like the way (style) she writes I can’t seem to get into her books the way I once did. I don’t know whether it’s just me but seems there is more sex than there is actual story which is a shame because I used to really enjoy her books. This book contained three full length stories but if you took out the sex you could probably read them in less than an hour and a half.
I'm sorry to say that I didn't make the 2nd and 3rd book. And that 2as just because if how long it took me to get to the end of the 1st, I couldn't leave it unfinished. I made the decision not to continue because there was just something that didn't appeal to me and the more intimate scenes felt very dull.
Three : A Collection of Gay Ménage Romances by L. A. Witt. I had already read Out of Focus and enjoyed it very much. So I decided to try the other two stories in this book. All three of the stories in the book are fantastic! Definitely a must read book
I couldn’t get into the book after finishing chapter 6 of the first book. I got annoyed with the way they thought of (I can’t remember his name). It made Me feel like a piece of meat and that’s just disgusting. I’m deleting this from my Kindle.
This was ok... it took a while for me to get through... ...............................it was a free read............. .......... .......................... not my cup of tea..
There's a market for books about dominant and submissive but it's but me. Threesomes were somewhat of interest. The two stars is because I didn't like the topic. I didn't want to give it a one star for not being a type of book I'd want to read.
Skipped the second story because the premise didn't interest me. Digital copy was difficult to navigate, so this wasn't easy. The stories I did read were cute.
Quite a daring trilogy expertly constructed with pathos, humour and serious bits. With the three booms together I was quite exhausted when I finally finished.
Out of Focus, 3.5 stars. Good plot, good characters. Alas, had that annoying problem of inferior communication skills in the established couple. The passive third re his personal life was teeth-grittingly annoying.
Hiatus, 1 star. Slow. So very slow. God, the resistance to getting help got old.
What He Left Behind might have won more than 3 stars, but until the experiment begins, it is intolerably slow and repetitive to the point where I skimmed. And then it was still a little like that, but not nearly so bad. I guess it was an attempt to show trepidation and seriousness? Once the action starts it's pretty good.
The word polyamory has existed since the late '90s. When I started living poly, it didn't exist. But now it does. I wish more authors would write characters able to use the internet and willing to do a little research. Or put them in places where that isn't an option, at least. This fumbling through shit that's pretty easy to find help for is outdated.
These three stories had HEA's. It took me a long time to finish this book, especially stories two and three. There was a whole lot more sex than emotion. I just couldn't feel the love.
