⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! The Mistakes (stand-alone), book 3. Mistake-ridden unlikely forbidden romance is complicated by lapses & blunders!

“We stopped fighting long enough for him to fuck me against his desk, and then again on top of it. It was crazy, passionate, go-for-broke sex and when we were done, we re-entered a world with papers and desk supplies strewn all over the floor.”

Books in The Off-Limits series are stand-alones, but most enjoyed if read in order:
Book 1: The Lessons
Book 2: The Rules
Book 3: The Mistakes

The Mistakes (stand-alone) opens up to Winnie (Gwendolyn) Arabella Masters, Win making a deal with her best friends Ainsley (book 2), agreeing to two months of celibacy.

Mistake #1…

When attorney Mark Henry Bishop spots a pink-haired beauty, he unsuccessfully tries flirting with her. Fast forward a sidesplitting, sexually charged blunder later, Mark and Winnie agree to a one-night stand.

Mistake #2…

Imagine their shock upon discovering that Winnie will be Mark’s newly assigned assistant. Fuck promises, fuck agreements and fuck company’s strict fraternization policy!

Mistake #3…

Their steamy hush-hush affair continues, with sex on desks, against walls, at lunch breaks with compounding slip-ups, until they can no longer cover their tracks.

Mistake #4, Mistake #5, Mistake #6…

Seven words to describe Mark Henry Bishop: Patient, kind, smart, loyal, laidback, confident and oh so sweet.

Seven words to describe Winnie (Gwendolyn) Arabella Masters, Win: Conflicted, stubborn, independent, hard-headed, nurturing, goofy and scared.

The Mistakes, told from dual POVs, is a mixture of romance, fun bantering, hilarious situations and… angst. Yes, there shall be angst. Though not all of the mistakes are Winnie’s, it’s very much her journey of self-reflection and growth. Story ends on a high with progress and closure, providing welcomed updates on the cast from book 1 and 2.

“Just tell me what you need. Tell me what to say.”

“So is that why you’re single? You want a Mr. Darcy?”
description

The Mistakes is the third book in the Off-Limits Series. Although it can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading the entire series because each and every character in this series is beautifully connected with each other. In this third story in the series, Winnie finally meets her match! A must read for forbidden romance fans, Winnie Masters and Mark Bishop make a few beautiful mistakes that bring them both a lifetime of happiness!

description
"This guy’s green eyes were like kryptonite and the hotness was fucking with my brain."
Winnie Masters has always lived life on the wild side. With a flair for living free, Winnie likes men. However, her best friend Ainsley convinces her that she needs to take a vow of celibacy to slow down and take stock of her life. When Mark Bishop crashes into her life, like a freight train, Winnie is swept off her feet. And despite her best efforts to stay away, sometimes the most forbidden fruit is the fruit you just can't wait to taste. And taste. And taste!

description
"So what if my new job’s biggest benefit was frequent sex with my boss? I could deal with that."
Mark Bishop is an accomplished lawyer. With a stable upbringing, a solid group of friends and a very supportive family, he seems to have it all together. When Mark meets Winnie, he knows he has to have her. A quick one night together doesn't even begin to quench the desire that exists between them, and when his new assistant walks in the door (and it's WINNIE), he knows his life is about to get very complicated. As Winnie and Mark navigate the choppy waters of suspicious friends, stolen steamy moments at work, and questionable choices, they quickly fall head over heals in love with one another. But can Winnie and Mark find a way to make things right after making so many mistakes?

description
"Just tell me what you need. Tell me what to say. You are all I ever wanted. I need you in my life, so please, just tell me what I need to do to fit into yours."
Told in dual POV, The Mistakes is a tender forbidden romance full of charged banter, smart dialogue, and plenty of steam! Both Winne and Mark are quite complex, and together they create something beautiful. The pacing of the story is steady and each moment of the journey is full of tenderness, slight angst, and passion. I admired Winnie's strength and quirky personality, and when Mark enters her life, she learns how to trust and truly love for the first time. Mark has always tried to follow the straight and narrow and yet, his life is hollow without love. Together, Winnie and Mark complete each other and although it takes them a while to figure things out when they find their way everything that was broken becomes something beautiful and brand new.

The Mistakes is a fun and sexy read with endearing characters experiencing unforgettable moments together. Elizabeth Brown is a fantastic storyteller whose characters magically come to life. RATING 4.5 STARS

The Mistakes is book three in the Off Limits series by Elizabeth Brown. I’ve really enjoyed the first two books in this series and was looking forward to Winnie’s story. I ended up loving it.

Winnie Masters is Ainsley’s (from the last book) best friend. Winnie is twenty six years old. She is trying to get her small business of the ground, selling gift baskets full of personal pleasure products. But Winnie is responsible for her seventeen year old sister who has Down ’s Syndrome. So she needs a day job as well to make ends meet. She is currently working at a library shelving books. Until everything changes and she finds herself in need of a new job.

Mark Bishop is thirty years old and is an attorney at one of the most prestigious law firms in San Francisco. He’s at his friend’s wedding when he first saw her, the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen.

Winnie’s life is busy between caring for her sister and literally working at two jobs. She does hook ups with men, a lot of hook ups. Because she is a woman who enjoys sex. At Ainsley and Lam’s wedding, a little flirting, and a trip to the wrong restroom changes her life forever. Especially when the object of all her pleasure that night turns out to be her brand new boss at her brand new job.

The firm has a no fraternizing rule. But nothing will stop Winnie and Mark. They can’t hold back the pull between them, neither of them wants to. Right when Winnie starts to think maybe her life has taken a turn for the better, fate has another curve ball to throw her way.

sex at the office

I loved both of these characters. At first, I thought Winnie was a little too rough around the edges. But as I got to know her, she really wasn’t at all. She has so much on her shoulders, the care of her sister, her work, that there is no time for anything else. Winnie does believe in love. She’s seen it. She’s a Jane Austen obsessed fan. But, Winnie doesn’t believe in love for herself.

Mark is equally swoony. He might come off as a little arrogant at first but this man is the swooniest! He is sweet, kind, loving, sexy, and the list goes on. This whole series was so enjoyable. If you like sexy, steamy novels with characters that will live much longer in your heart after you turn the last page, then this book is for you. Each book in the trilogy can be read as a stand alone.

3.25 Stars

Overall Opinion: I went into this expecting a pretty light and sexy read -- and that's what I got! It didn't get really deep, but it was enjoyable for what it was. It had some laugh out loud moments, as well as a good bit of steam. I did have some issues with the h pushing away a little too much, but all in all it was a little bit better than "just ok" making it 3.25 stars.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Winnie and Mark's story. They meet a a friend's wedding, and have a ONS. They are shocked when they meet again when Winnie is hired to be Mark's personal assistant. They try to ignore the strong attraction they share, but they eventually give in and start a friend's-with-benefits type relationship. Eventually stronger feelings develop, but there are some big road blocks in their way. There are a good bit of sexy times, some family and work drama...and they do get a HEA ending.

POV: This alternated between Winnie and Mark's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: No, they take a while to develop stronger feelings.

H rating: 4.5 stars. Mark. I really liked him! He was alpha, but also really sweet. I also really liked how he treated the h's sister, his grandma, and his mom.

h rating: 3 stars. Winnie. I liked her, but I wanted her to come to terms with her feelings way sooner.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Hot. They have some hot tension, chemistry, and scenes -- and while there were a lot of scenes, I still felt like it was not so much it took away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: No

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had good closure with a jump ahead epilogue and a HEA ending.

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

***4 "The Darcy Effect!!!" stars***

This book was the third story of the "Off-limits" series and the only thing that i have to say is that
every story is getting better and better and i loved that this time we had Winnie's turn!!!
This book was funny, sexy, a bit emotional and i had a very joyful ride!!!

Everything started with a celibacy oath for two months to her best friend and that oath had been broken very, very soon....
In Winnie's best friend wedding day with a smokin' hot friend of the groom... and Winnie swore that this was the first and last time that she had broken her oath...
But fate is usually laughing when people are making plans, so Winnie's life take an unexpectend turn when she is founding herself to work as a secretary for Mark Bishop...
The man she broke her oath for... and everything is turning upside down!!!

Winnie was such a free- spirited woman, very funny, such a firecracker and very independent...
Winnie wasn't like the usual heroines who believe in love and relationships... She is treating men like the most men are treating women and as she was saying.... she was loving d**ks!!! Any kind!! LOL!!
And then, Mark Bissop stepped into her life and turned everything upside down!!!!

Mark was a very good man, even though a little bit difficult.... but from the author's descriptions, he was sexy as hell and a lawyer!!!!
He was very focused on his job and he was loving to built things with his own hands and he was very good at this...
He was drown toward Winnie from the very first moment and he fought very much to make her his...

Winnie and Mark were so different, but at the same time, they were a perfect match...
When they were together, there was fire that was threatening to burn everything around them!!!!
But to be totally honest here, Mark was trying very hard for this thing between them to work out and Winnie was making it hard since she was scared about this prospect...
But no matter what, those two were so great together....

Seriously! The books in this series just get better and better! I loved every bit of this. Well, ok there was one point I wanted to shake Winnie and it lasted longer than I wished, but even that part was handled in a way that didn't turn me off of liking her.

This book was very funny. I loved Winnie (despite her moment of stupid) and her comments with Ainsley had me laughing out loud, a lot.

Mark was damn near perfect. Honestly, I fell in love with him from the start and kept falling until the end. Elizabeth Brown really knows how to write her leading men. They are strong characters that really know how to treat the women in their life.

I had fun with this book and highly recommend it! ARC provided by Netgalley.

4 ★'s

Mark and Winnie meet at Ainsley and Lambo's (from the second book, The Rules) wedding while she is checking out a friend of his. There's some attraction between the two of them but Ainsley made Winnie promise to take a no sex break so what's a horny girl to do? Service herself in the bathroom of course...which would have been fine except Mark walks in.

This leads to an amazing night for the two of them but Winnie doesn't do relationships or sleepovers. So she slips out the door and is on her way thinking that's the end of it but things are never that easy. In fact, they're going to get a whole lot worse when she finds out that Mark is her new boss.

Naturally, there is a non-fraternization policy and naturally they throw that out the window. These two have sex All. The. Time. It certainly helps that Winnie is a bit of a nympho and she even has her own sex toy business!

I was a little taken back at first but gradually we get to know the true Winnie. Yes, she loves sex but she's so much more. I loved how Mark wanted to find all that out as well and I really loved how he showed his true feelings first and didn't shy away.

description

Winnie is taking care of her sister, Lucy, who has Down's Syndrome but is pretty independent. Mark invites them to his family's farm for the Fourth of July but Lucy has other plans and begs Winnie to let her go. Unfortunately, this leads to some huge drama and causes Winnie to break up with Mark even though she doesn't tell him. (I wasn't too happy with her about that!)

Sooo many things happen after that but I love how Mark never gave up hope. He sure is a planner and it was perfect the things he managed to do.

It was great having so much Ainsley in the story. I love her relationship with Winnie. (Wow, the things best friends do for each other!) And I LOVED that they got to share something very special.

Good things come to those that wait...and this is no exception. I really enjoyed the build up and the low angst and I especially loved how Mark took care of Winnie. The ending was perfection!

I really loved this book! Humor, steam, a bit of angst, a couple surprises and a really sweet romance - I read this all in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. Winnie is a strong woman who takes care of her special needs sister, supports herself and doesn't have time for more than one night stands. Her best friend tells her she's worth more and makes her take a one month vow of celibacy. Mark, her new boss, is the one man that she shouldn't want but can't help herself even if she's supposed to be celibate. Mark is career driven, a bit of a jerk but sweet, sexy and he can't keep his hands off his new assistant. The banter and chemistry between Mark and Winnie was great. I absolutely adored Mark. He was perfect! The steam in this one was off-the-charts hot! Winnie frustrated me a bit towards the end but overall she was a really great character. I loved this book and I hope there is going to be another book in this series!

I absolutely loved this book! Mark and Winnie are one of a kind and perfect together!

At first I was concerned that I wasn’t going to like Winnie. She’s a little out there and isn’t shy about it. With no time or trust to do relationships she is an expert at the one night stand. I struggle with heroines like that. However, once the story got to moving I fell in love with her. The banter between her and Mark was fun, steamy and hilarious. The sex in this book and especially the lead up to it was sizzling hot. I’d take Mark Bishop any day, any way, all the way!

Winnie and Mark’s relationship goes through several transitions and it was all very natural. I enjoyed every second of it until Winnie pushes him away. A little push is okay but this went on longer than I prefer. However, what made it totally acceptable was the fact that Mark stayed. Yep. She pushed. He stayed. And not in a dominant male “I’m not taking no” kind of way but in a gentle sweet way that endeared him to me even more. That alone took a four star rating up to five. Thank you Ms. Brown.

This is a fun, fast read that you will not want to miss. Told in dual points of view that is completely safe and will leave you wishing you could have more of this couple. Perhaps a follow up novella? I’d pay money for that.

Thanks to NetGalley for giving me this ARC. This is absolutely, 100%, an honest review!

I love reading Elizabeth Brown’s writing, it’s always so engaging and humorous. When I first picked up this book we see Ainsley and Lam (from book 2) and I loved them, it was like seeing old friends again and it made me want to go back to their story and read it again. But, this one was all about Winnie and Mark. When I first read the blurb I thought there was going to be a lot more tension between the two, I was anticipating Winnie’s celibacy playing a bigger role in the story but that wasn’t really the central conflict between these two. It’s really more about Mark working for Winnie’s family and Winnie’s own misgivings stemming from her familial relationships that she lets bleed into her burgeoning relationship with Mark.
When I was little, I thought that being an adult meant unlimited ice cream sandwiches and getting to buy all the glitter pencils I wanted. I was wrong.
After losing her job at the library Winnie Masters has to set her pride aside and take a job at the family law firm. Winnie works as an assistant to Mark Bishop whom she’d previously met at her best friend’s wedding. The attraction between Mark and Winnie is strong but she’s never been the boyfriend type and Mark isn’t keen on losing his job by breaking company policy to have a fling with her.
. . . chicks—well, they think they want Bingleys, but really they all fall for a Darcy.
Mark takes his job seriously and he needs an assistant who is going to work just as hard as him. The pink-haired, sassy girl he met at Lam’s wedding doesn’t seem fit for the job. As he gets to know her he learns that she’s dedicated to putting forth good work with everything she does.
Stupid boys. Stupid, hot, sexy boys.
Mark and Winnie’s relationship happens pretty quickly and progresses well until Winnie slams on the brakes. All of her misgivings about being in a relationship prevent her from fully committing to Mark. This was one part of the book I didn’t really care for, the time they spent apart. All of Winnie’s ‘good’ reasons for keeping Mark at arms length, quickly turned into non-reasons yet she continued to avoid him. My second issue with the book was, I guess, not a lack of sex, I just didn’t care for it’s placement. There were times when there was a fade to black and I wished the scene had stayed lit and a few times where they fell into bed and I was more looking forward to them just hanging out. All in all, it was a good book, not my favorite from the series (shoutout to Ainsley and Lam) but it was still a good story from Elizabeth Brown.

Ryan Andrews was yum! And I love everything abou Lambo Christie! But Mark Bishop, oh my gad, he makes me want to marry him!

Okay, back up. So this book is a long time coming. It's the third installment in Off-Limits series (each a stand alone) by Elizabeth Brown, and I'm telling you, this is a must read!

Winnie Masters is just hilarious! She doesn't do relationships, only one night stands and a friend and sister I'd like to have. And because of a scare she had concerning with her vajajay, she entered into an agreement with her friend Ainsley to a two-month celibacy.

Mark Bishop is just so dreamy. Okay, maybe at first he isn't really my first choice per se but I love how his character is. He's a lawyer, and he's good with tools. *wiggles eyebrows*

“That's alright. I could handle dicks. Big ones. Small ones.”

This book is an office romance and told in dual POV and is a fast-paced story. Fun banter, a little romance, or a lot in a very subtle-moving way that melt-your-heart-and-panties-kind, a lot of hilarious moments, and light drama along the way. Seriously, I couldn't put it down and I couldn't stop laughing!

Although that may be the case, I always love that Elizabeth has always something on the side that you call reality. I love that it isn't heavy, and the touch on the subject was just subtle but it made the plot not only focus on the office romance but on other aspect of the characters' lives. This may be a journey of Winnie's self reflection but it is also of Mark's finding peace. The character development and their growth is definitely worth noting. Lastly, the epilogue was like a present wrapped up beautifully with a bow.

"You are all I ever wanted. I need you in my life, so please, just tell me what I need to do to fit into yours."

Beyond 5 Sparkling Swoonworthy Stars

I absolutely adored every page of this book. The hero and heroine, Mark and Winnie, are firmly ensconced on my Top Book Couple shelf and this book will always have a special place in my kindle heart. It really was THAT good. If you only buy a couple of books a month (or if you are like me and appear to have an itchy 1-click finger) then I highly recommend you buy this book. It is a standalone in a series so prior reading really is not necessary, but the other two books are excellent too. But this one...this one was soooo good.

It's rare to find a novel in which you find both the hero and heroine equally loveable but both characters in this book are so well written and have depth to them that will pull you in from page one. Mark is a sweet, sexy, alpha hero who is loyal to his core. This man loves hard and he is undoubtedly in love with our heroine. He is witty and smart but I really loved how he was so determined to win Winnie's heart. I think he had it from the offset , but she just didn't know it at the time.

"You are all I ever wanted. I need you in my life, so please, just tell me what I need to do to fit into yours"

Winnie was such a beautifully written heroine. She's got sass, a sense of fun that is hilarious and her loyalty to those she loves is awesome. She also has a real vulnerability about her. She is very much a one night stand girl , but it is for good reasons, but despite all that and her love of all things sexual, she has a curious sense of innocence also. It sounds like a complete juxtaposition of a character but it works so well. She is a very contemporary girl but there is also a sweet nostalgia about her. You have to read this book and learn her character but I guarantee, Winnie is an incredible heroine.

"I pretend not to let it bother me, because as Charlie Sheen says, 'The best way to not get your heart broken, is pretending you don't have one.' I found that on Pinterest one day, during a low point I'd rather forget."

The plot goes at a good pace. The secondary characters bring more warmth and depth to the pages which are already shimmering with a special kind of romance. It's the sort of romance that you swoon over and has you apparently incapable of leaving your Kindle alone (just saying- it's likely to lead to a very late night read- totally worth it). It's sexy, funny, poignant and sweet.

HEA? Hell yeah.
Cheating? Hell no.

Winnie has taken a vow of celibacy after a bit of a scare. Well, in reality it’s a very short vow of celibacy. The minute she lays eyes on Mark Bishop all bets are off. The next morning, Winnie leaves the hotel room before Mark even knows she’s gone.

After losing her job at the library, Winnie is forced to work at her grandfather’s law firm. Imagine her shock when she realizes she will be working for non other than Mark Bishop.

Who doesn’t love a secret work romance? When written well, it’s one of my favorite themes. Perhaps it’s the forbidden/taboo romance? Anyways...as you can imagine Mark and Winnie can’t keep their hands off of each other.

I really liked both Winnie and Mark. They were both strong characters. Winnie is not only supporting herself but her special needs sister. SMark is trying to make partner and in doing so is working himself to the bone.

The chemistry and witty banter between them was spot on. They had fabulous chemistry and their sexy scenes were absolutely delectable…Elizabeth Brown can write some seriously hot sex scenes.

Another thing I liked about this one that it didn’t follow the mold of other office romances. And no, I won’t tell you why, you need to read it to find out!

This was a great addition to The Off-Limits series. I can’t wait to read what comes next from Elizabeth!

Favorite Quote: “Hey, stop touching my vibe.” […] “You know, you can get your own on the internet. You don’t need to go around stealing them.”

Winnie Masters works at the local library and is raising her younger sister after their mother walked out on them. A recent STD scare convinces her to take a two-month leave of absence from sex. A leave of absence that didn’t even four days before she falls off the wagon at her best friend’s wedding. The next day she does the walk of shame from his hotel room to hers and hightails it home before he even realizes she’s gone. When she is laid off from her job the following Monday and pressed into working at the family law firm, she is dismayed to discover her new boss is none other than her one night stand from the wedding.

Mark Bishop never expected to see the woman from the wedding in his office. And he certainly never expected her to be his new administrative secretary or the granddaughter of a founding partner. A hard working lawyer currently on his way to becoming a partner, Mark knows playing ‘spank the naughty secretary’ with the very sexy and delicious Winnie could get him fired. Though he wants to. Very very much.

Winnie wants Mark but only in bed. Or on his desk. In a car. On their lunch breaks. She doesn’t do relationships. Mark also wants Winnie in his bed, but also in his life. He wants every part of her. But with all the mistakes they are both making in this relationship, he’s not sure either of them will get what they want.

Fans of Elizabeth Brown’s Off Limits series is sure to enjoy her latest couple-Winnie Masters and Mark Bishop- on their bumpy journey down happily ever after road. This humorous and emotional romantic comedy features two strong, opinionated, intelligent people whose intense attraction to one another is highlighted by their initial animosity and complicated work relationship. Engaging narrative, magnetic chemistry, witty dialogue, and a cast of dynamic aka very nosey secondary characters will keep readers on the hook till the very end.

The Mistakes is a journey of growth, reflection, and perseverance as told in dual points of view. Brown’s enticing voice that lends credence and realism to her characters and their actions. Both protagonists flesh out well; Brown unapologetically revealing their flaws and strengths with clarity and conviction.

“You are so dick-centric that you even give your STDs male nicknames. Don’t you see how messed up that is?”

Winnie is a contradiction of snark and strength that sheaths a very fragile and loving heart. She is both appealing and appalling. Winnie struggles to support her younger sibling on her own while proving to her family and herself she is nothing like her irresponsible mother. She likes sex. She likes men. She lives her life on her own terms and makes no apologies for that.

“So what if my new job’s biggest benefit was frequent sex with my boss? I could deal with that.”

Luckily for her, Mark is the most patient of heroes. His playa’ image is corrupted by the love and respect he gives his family, friends, and Winnie. He’s just really a sweetheart whose drive to succeed slowly killing him. Sexy, funny, and forthright, he fights for Winnie both sexually and emotionally. Every roadblock she places in front of them he pushes against them, using any means necessary to strengthen their connection.

“You are all I ever wanted. I need you in my life, so please, just tell me what I need to do to fit into yours.”

Mark and Winnie’s romance is littered with some deep belly laughs and heartfelt bittersweet moments as they attempt a clandestine sexual relationship only to discover to their horror they have fallen in love. I enjoyed watching Mark chase Winnie. She certainly puts him through his paces. He puts up with so much. A little too much at times. I’m all for finding oneself and taking all the time you need but Winnie has what I like call Scarlett O’Hara moments. That is where the heroine or hero just decides not to think about the problems at hand and deal with other things. Though the romance is slow to develop, their chemistry and love scenes blaze bright and hot across the pages. Mark has a dirty mind and mouth to match. *wink*

“Problem?” he asked, looking down at me as he sheathed his perfect erection.

I turned back to the desk and shook my head. “Uh-huh.”

“You sure?”

I nodded. “No, it’s fine. I just… forgot how big you are. You sure you wouldn’t rather have a blow job?”

He leaned into me again, his lips against my ear. “Believe me, as much as I’ve fantasized about shoving my dick in your mouth to shut you up, I’m not entirely convinced you wouldn’t bite it off.”

A kaleidoscope of dynamic and interesting secondary characters add even more love, humor, and advice to the mix from a very opinionated grandmother who only wants the best for her grandson to a best friend who not only through Winnie’s issues but also her fears. Family plays a very strong role in here as shown when Winnie’s family’s interference almost destroys Mark and Winnie’s chances at happiness.

The book does slow down considerably in the last 25% as Winnie deals with a game changer and tries to figure out what it is she really wants from life. It felt as if Brown just stops everything and lets Winnie strings Mark along for a while longer to keep the conflict and anticipation alive. <
The Mistakes is perfect for fans of opposite attraction and forbidden office romances who enjoy fun, smart, and sexy couples who have to work at their happily ever after. Some may find the stubbornness of the heroine draws out for far too long but it’s an enjoyable romance overall. Though part of a series with previous character cameos and interaction, you can read this comfortably as a standalone.

Overall 2.5, although the first half of this was a solid 4.5

I love a workplace secret affair story so this was right up my street. Unfortunately, although this started really strong it fizzled away; once we hit the conflict, all of the tension between them vanished. I couldn't get why she was pushing him away and he transformed from a charismatic hot guy into a wet sap, tiptoeing on eggshells around her instead of doing something about it.

And perhaps I missed it, but not sure where all of his income came from once he switched careers. Very strange.

Complete story, available on ku.

If you want something lighthearted and sweet with some steam thrown in, The Mistakes should be on your TBR list. Winnie and Mark meet at her and his best friends' wedding and have a hot one night stand. She bails the next morning, thinking she'll never see him again. But, when she's hired to be his assistant at his law firm (the one her grandfather founded), it's full steam ahead as they find the chemistry they shared during the wedding hasn't died, in fact, it's gotten hotter now that they're in one of those forbidden FWB relationships. The firm has a strict, no fraternization policy, but neither Winnie nor Mark cares and they keep things on the down low so no one finds out.

I absolutely love Mark, he's sweet, sexy, so kind and has a huge heart, along with being a dirty, dirty boy! He's the main pursuer in the relationship and it seems Winnie's just along for the ride and the great sex. I never quite connected with her. She seemed to just coast through life with little to no passion for anything other than taking care of her younger sister, Lucy, who has Down Syndrome, her burgeoning sex toy business, and sex with Mark. She's never had a relationship, so she is completely unsure what to make of Mark when he starts declaring feelings for her. She pushes him away time and again, even ghosting him at one point in one of the dumbest moves ever. I know she was forced into breaking up with him by her grandfather, but still, she could have, should have, handled the whole thing much better, more mature manner. Frankly, I think Mark is too good for her. It isn't until the end, the very end, that I found myself liking Winnie, when she decides to man up and grow up.

So, if not for Mark and some of the secondary cast (Lucy, Ainsley) I probably would have given this a 3 star review because Winnie really bugged me. But, because Mark made up for her deficiencies in a huge way, I couldn't bring myself to rate it lower. I am interested enough in this world to check out the other 2 books in this series, though.

I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.

The vow of celibacy that Winnie Masters doesn't look good on her, especially after she meets Mark Bishop at her best friends wedding. Winnie caves to the power that is Mark and these two have the corner market on spark and steam.
When a job change puts Winnie working for Mark at her grandfathers law office things ratchet up and the mouth on this guy. I loved it. Winnie and Mark hid their relationship from those around them for a number of reasons. The book has a number of secondary characters, some pivotal, some not so much. Enough to say Winnie looks after her sister Lucy who has special needs. I loved Lucy, so wise in her little world and calls them like she sees them. There were a couple of people I could have lived without. I loved Mark and Winnie together. They were intense and not just in a sexual way. Mark's snark and Winnie's give it right back to him made them just fun to read. Mark was kind and generous. I loved that too.
This was a great read all in all. I'd recommend for a relaxing, fun, hot read. Low on the angst, just the way I like them.
Great story Elizabeth!!! 4.5 Stars

There are times mark just needs privacy with Winnie, "I got up and closed the door to my office becauseI wasn’t too keen on letting the rest of the team hear my assistant call me an ***. “Well, have you ever considered,” I said, stalking toward her, “That if I’m an ***, it’s just b ecause you bring that out of me?” Mark sure has some interesting tactics when it comes shutting Winnie up:
“Shutting you up.” He growled, as he loosened his tie and unbuttoned his collar.
“You’re gonna shut me up with sex?” I asked.
I loved this book, I koved Mark.

2.5 Stars

I liked a lot about this book. I thought the writing was strong and the characters were mostly relate-able. There were a few choices and decisions I was not sure about, but that happens and I can ignore that as I am not going to agree with every choice a character makes in a book.

Unfortunately, the pacing and the story line were tough for me. I thought the book dragged in places and I thought that it went through way too much. It is tough to get into without spoiling the story, but it went, in my opinion, on quite the trip through a lot of different genres and this made it ultimately a little hard to connect with, as I felt that a resolution of one situation was just going to bring out the next. This also made the narrative a little choppy for me, as it seemed to jump from thing to thing rather quickly, and in order to fit so much in, it had to gloss over a lot.

I didn't dislike this, and I actually struggled for a while after finishing this one to decide on the final rating for it.

I provided with an ARC advanced copy by the author for a exchange of my honest review. Thank you so much for the chance Liz! I loved and enjoyed your writing style on both three books, and I LOVE the book-covers as well, especially The Mis was takes cover.

"Some Mistakes are meant to have a Happy Ending. A Sweet, touching Love Story to Read."

Reading The Mistakes, the third book of the Off-Limits series, I've been introduced to Winnie's and Mark's story. A story that's all about making mistakes and not have the knowledge to rectified them properly, a story that talks about responsibilities and personal goals, a story that makes you understand that denying your feelings has an unwelcome impact into your life and, farther more, others life as well. Although, both three books have an almost same theme, the off-limits-love-story kind of theme, The Mistakes, is a step forward from the others two, illustrating a personal fight between the right thing to do and what is right for ourselves. It isn't everything about sex after all!!!

"So you are saying I have to give up all the dicks?" - Winnie

Winnie Masters is Ainsley's best friend and co-worker at the San Francisco's public library. I met her as the cocky, Tom boy Ainsley had a friend. Twenty-six years old now, Winnie lives with her eighteen years old sister Lucy in a small studio, providing everything to both of them from the small salary she earns from the public library and the small business she created from scratch on internet. Her sister Lucy has Down Syndrome which means she needs to have a special treatment and care, responsibilities Winnie took seriously after their mother left them alone, a couple of years ago. She wanted to be independent without a single help from their mother's family, proving herself and them that she has nothing in common with her mother's character. However, she was a free spirit when it comes to her sexuality! She had her share of different partners, who were only an one-night-stand partner for her and nothing more. Mostly, she was pleased with everything she had in her life, and the way she lived it, but one day she got fired from the public library and she now had to ask the help from her mother's family and her aunt Jo.

"His name is Neil." - Winnie..."You name your sex-toys?" - Mark

Mark Bishop is Liam's friend and member of his soccer team. Thirty years old, he works as a lawyer in a firm, Winnie's grandpa firm, for a couple years, showing how good he is at his work. His life was simple. Long hours working for whatever case has to work for, then back home providing any help his grandma or the house he bought needed. A simple life into a complicated family tho. Then the day of Liam's marriage came, and he met the most cocky, arrogant yet sexy woman ever and spend the night with her, only that the morning she had disappeared. His life continues until one day, the firm provided him an assistant to help him out with his schedule and, well, the assistant was that woman, Winnie.

Well, have you ever considered...That if I'm an ass, it's just because you bring that out of me?" - Mark

The atmosphere between them was hot and intense. Mark was so into her, intrigued by her attitude and smart mouth, he was always ready to mark her everytime they worked alone in his office but walking them in the dangerous path to be noticed from everyone in the firm and have terrible sequences. Winnie, on the other hand, not having a relationship with a guy before, couldn't put her thoughts and feelings in order, so took their connection lightly. However, the goods don't last forever and when the circumstances made her choose between family and herself, she chose what she always did and, from here this is where the story captivated my attention mostly. It wasn't a roller coaster, not at all! It was mostly the fight of the unknown feelings Mark gift her to feel and the new options she had to choose for her future life.

"I hate you" - Winnie "I hate you too, Masters. Let's fuck it out!" - Mark

I read both three stories of the series and even if I am Ainsley's fan than Winnie's or Natalie's, I can totally understand Winnie's attitude and the way she thinks. She truly gave her best self helping her sister all alone, putting her life in second order. Although I wanted to sit her down and put some sense into her about all the wrong she was doing to Mark and herself, I knew that her way was how she learned to cope. It was clear that she was the one who had to solve her own problem. However, she was lucky she had her best friend, Ainsley, to talked to and take some advices from her. Ainsley was good for Winnie, just like Mark was. His love and care for Winnie, warmhearted my core and his willingness to stay close and never leave her alone was very admirable and majorly sweet. They were the perfect match for each other.

"Not ever man can be a Darcy, but even a bad brownie is still a brownie. But bad sex is still sex." -Winnie

Delightfully swoony but most of all touching The Mistakes gave me true ache inside. Winnie's personal fight to do the right thing, and all the wrong decisions and mistakes she made, put the third book of the series in a more humanly kind level than the others two. Not that the others didn't had serious messages to share. No!!! Just like the first two stories, I love that The Mistakes kept a light atmosphere no matter it's theme, and that the author had illustrated it with so much care. I'm impressed again, how beautifully the story was narrated, with all the ups and downs in Winnie's and Mark's relationship. It was again fast paced and consuming, just like the books I love to read. I hope I didn't confused you with this review. It's honestly different from the other two and I did my best to write down my thoughts for it. However, I kept the details for myself because I don't want to spoil the end of the book. Too many things happening inside, both about Ainsley's and Winnie's life, you definitely don't want to miss found out. Hope I intrigued your imagination and made you grab the book yourselves and find out what's happening.

Until next time, enjoy your free time reading great books with unforgettable stories.

Loved this! The Mistakes is the third book in the Off-Limits series and I’m kinda sad it’s over. I’m going to miss these characters!

Mark is super sexy and loving and caring and funny and...one of my favorite qualities in a BBF —> a dirty talker! YAASSS!

Although Winnie pissed me off a number of times, I still loved her and adored the banter and fun relationship between her and her best friend, Ainsley.

The chemistry between Mark and Winnie was sizzling. And adorable. And perfect. These two worked their way into my heart, right next to Ryan, Natalie, Ainsley, and Lam. This was another great book in a fun series!

Thoroughly enjoyed this story!

“I’d have one last good f*ck with this green-eyed god and then I’d go on a sex sabbatical.”

Winnie Masters, in spite of coming from a wealthy family, is independently looking after her younger sister, Lucy, who has Downs Syndrome, after their flaky mother took off. She refuses any financial help from her family and, therefore, when she loses her job at the library, she begrudgingly accepts a secretarial role at her grandfather’s law firm. However, on her first day, she finds that her boss is none other than the one-night stand from her best friend’s recent wedding. The guy she wasn’t supposed to hook up with, as she’d made a vow to abstain from casual sex for two months. He was supposed to be her last fling before her sexual moratorium.

Mark Bishop knew next to nothing about the mysterious woman he hooked up with at this friend’s wedding. She disappeared the next morning without a trace, although he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about her. Imagine his shock when she turns out to be his new assistant. Unfortunately, they get off on the wrong foot, but it doesn’t stop seem to dampen their mutual attraction.

“Everything next happened in a fast blur. My blood was pumping through me. This woman drove me crazy, and she’d manged to get under my skin. My mouth was on hers, my tongue pushing past the seam of her lips, claiming what I’d been lusting for.”

This was a humorous, sexy, sweet story. Winnie has quite the promiscuous sex life but she devotes all her time to working and looking after her sister, so she has little time to invest in committed relationships. However, Mark is beyond hot and the sexual chemistry between them is utterly irresistible. Mark had been trying to keep his distance from his new assistant – especially as there is a non-fraternisation policy at his work, as well as the fact that she is his boss’ grand-daughter. However, their prickly interactions turn them both on so much that before long, they’re conducting a full-blown affair in his office. The desire between them was palpable – they could barely keep their hands off each other!

“But eventually, and I’m not sure exactly when, everything changed.”

Slowly, slowly their interactions start seeping out into their private lives and, before they know it, they’re pretty much dating and falling in love, even though Winnie continuously tries to deny that anything is really happening between them. Unfortunately, when Winnie gets a nasty wake-up call, she is shamed into shutting Mark out, until another life-changing wake-up call has him back in her life again, and navigating the tentative waters of friendship and possibly more.

Mark is so gorgeous, thoughtful, and unbelievably patient. I loved him! Winnie was so scared of becoming like her mother that she felt shamed by her relatives into giving Mark up. She was so afraid of love and commitment, and it took her a long time to see the truth right in front of her eyes.

I thought this was a really fun, pretty hot read!

Wow, another hot book by Elizabeth Brown. When I read that another book from this series was coming I was stoked. I’m so glad I read it. Mark and Winnie’s love story is not only fun, but super sexy. Winnie is one smart mouth, dirty, tough chick. She was like one of the guys, she hit it and quit it. She never hid it when a guy caught her eyes, she goes for it as quickly as she could. She is straight forward tells whoever the flavor of the night, what she wants and gets it, nothing off limit. She was so much fun to read and I love her best friend Ainsley with her husband Lamb from book 2. I will forever remember Winnie making Ainsley look at her Vag to make sure she didn’t have STD. Poor Ains, couldn’t say no when Winnie used the best friend line “I would do it for you”. LOL.

 photo TheMistakes-Teaser.jpg

Winnie and Mark’s story completely took off after their 2nd meeting in the Men’s bathroom. Winnie getting off in one of the stalls and dropping her bf that Mark had to pick up and clean. I swear Winnie is the biggest slut, she couldn’t get enough of the D*cks. “Well, okay, so he was a dick. That’s alright. I could handle dicks. Big ones. Small ones. Seemed that my subconscious liked big dicks the best though.” Their love story started with lots and lots of sex and a lot of funny moments. Somewhere in the middle of the story, it went serious and I love where it went. Mark made me fall in love with him more and more with every turn of a page. Don’t get me wrong, I love Mark, but Ryan from book 1 still has my heart completely. I was completely sucked into this forbidden love story, that I couldn’t put it down. This is a definite must read for all readers who love romance, that’s a little dirty with lots of laughs.

Having already read The Lessons and The Rules, the other two books in the Off Limits series by Elizabeth Brown and having a penchant for romance with a side of forbidden, I was more than happy to snuggle down and get cozy with Winnie and Mark in The Mistakes. It wasn't long before buttoned up Mark Bishop and slightly wacky Winnie Masters had me laughing and panting throughout their story. They are hilarious, hot, and very creative with all the places that they can get their freak on!

Winnie is one of the most outrageous heroines that I have ever had the pleasure of getting to know and since I am huge fan of rom coms, that is saying a lot! I adore her and Ainsley's relationships and couldn't wait to see what scheme these two besties would be cooking up next. I love how innovative Winnie is and wish I could get my hands on one of her “naughty baskets” from Treasure Trove. Let's not forget the steam that rolls off of Winnie and Mark when they are in the same room which is enough to incinerate any reader.

Mark Bishop is a dressed up hottie that knows how to push all of Winnie's buttons and does so again and again and again. I fell hard for this hero who heats up any situation and keep us begging for more. I never expected a lawyer to be so “hands on” but I loved envisioning him in both his suits, sweaty in his soccer clothes, and in jeans with sawdust clinging to his chest. He is the best type of man candy that will leave you with a craving like none other.

Elizabeth Brown delivers a scorching heart felt read that is sure to tickle your funny bone and melt you in all the right places. I highly recommend The Mistakes for an enticing romance with great characters and plenty of twists and turns! Elizabeth has me giddy with anticipation for future books in the Off Limits series. Who doesn't like stories about gorgeous soccer playing heroes, sassy heroines, and forbidden love?
