I rather enjoyed the short stories and poems in this collection book. I read all three Scottish tales, both Welsh tales, the tale from France and Normandy, the tale from France and Brittany, the Grecian tale and the English tale. The poems are all very charming a fantastical. There's sometime sweet about the illustrations like an Easter morning.

This book was entertaining although probably not targeted towards elementary students. It mentions hell and the devil quite a few so i would not have it in my classroom just out of respect for some parents. It is a cool read that some older students might really enjoy but just maybe not for elementary.

A read-aloud even my 11-year-old made sure she was in the room for. It alternates stories with poems - great for language comprehension if you want to ask a few questions about the purpose/main idea of the poem, etc. Some of the stories are kind of creepy, like real fairy stories should be. They also seemed to make an effort to include stories from cultures outside of Europe (like Africa and the Middle East) though classics from Great Britain still dominate. Overall, enchanting.

I really loved all of the stories and the poems.
This book really change my expectations of fairies but in a good way.
These stories enlighten on how fairies were portrayed in various cultures and folk tales.
