They say that behind every great man is a great woman...But what if that woman is a Werewolf?
"Serenity and Clint Eastwood fans saddle up! This is a straight shooting futuristic story that celebrates honor and survival with a little paranormal on the side."
Settled into their new home of North Chicago, Terry and Char find more enemies than they suspected. Faced with their greatest threat, they put the FDG into action against a Forsaken who's surrounded himself with a small army of loyal humans. With Akio's aid, they go to war.
"I swear this series just gets better and better. "
"The saga of TH and Char continues as they protect the innocent and attempt to return civilization to the people. The characters and story are great as usual. I found myself more and more engrossed as I devoured the book."

I see my other lives, a career in the Marines, those damn hand-written tests in law school, a business consultant, as if they're stories from a book. I see my books as if I lived there, as if I were friends with the characters. All things we remember are behind us, only those we imagine lie before.
I'm not sure which place I prefer, but I don't have to choose. They live together in my mind. My books have some award nominations, they have bestseller tags across multiple countries. I write about justice, honor, and loyalty because that's what I care about. My stories are mostly set within worlds that haven't been, but could be. We have to be ready for when those times come.
No matter where I went, I always had a book with me. Thanks to 21st Century technology, I now have hundreds of books loaded on my phone and always with me. This breakthrough allows me to binge read my favorites. How many books would I have read on deployments had I not had to have a physical book with me? I paced myself so I wouldn't finish too quickly.
We aren't encumbered like that now. I love the works of Robert Heinlein, Anne McCaffrey, JRR Tolkien, Robert E. Howard, and so many more. I have been compared to Andre Norton and that is humbling - she was an incredible author with a huge list of novels to her credit. With every new book, I aspire to live up to those that you, the readers, have compared me to.
Through a bizarre series of events, I ended up in Fairbanks, Alaska. I never expected to retire to a place where golf courses are only open for four months out of the year. But that's the way it is. It is off the beaten path. My wife and I get to watch the northern lights from our driveway. Our dog has lots of room to run. And temperatures reach fifty below zero. We have from three and a half hours of daylight in the winter to twenty-four hours in the summer.
It's all part of the give and take of life. If we didn't have those extremes, then everyone would live in the sub-arctic.
Nomad's Fury, Craig Martelle and Michael Anderle's 5th book in the Kutherian Gambit Series is outstanding in its tribute to the author's goal of a story about rebuilding Human Civilization after a Catastrophic, Technological end to the World we all knew.
THW (Terry Henry Walton) and his Werewolf mate, Charumuti, have forged ahead to New Chicago and have the folks that made it with them creating a viable living place. The remnants of New Boulder are walking and herding cattle the two thousand miles. Some of the Native American people they met are helping the New Boulder folks and some are already in New Chicago.
If there is a theme for this book, I'd say it is Integration. In addition to advocating for the Native tribe to join them, TH has befriended a Forsaken, a vampire who pledges to work with them, despite being despised by most everyone. A WereBear has joined them, and has become fast friends with their real grizzly bear cub, as well as with Ted, a Werewolf who shares his skills in nuclear engineering. And, lastly, Aaron, a WereTiger, who scares everyone but is an eminently likable soul.
During all of the friendshipping, TH has to keep the Force De Guerre (FDG) in top shape by daily training as the ranks fill up with newcomers. Akio, TH's mysterious friend with the flying crafts, prevails upon him for several missions.
An evil, human hostage-holding Forsaken has holed up in a brownstone house in old New York and must be dealt with. The crack troops of the FDG, TH, Char and the Forsaken, equipped with plenty of weapons, descend upon the brownstone and help Akio wipe out the evil one.
A second battle is required when TH finds out that all of the girls that were kidnapped from the native tribe when his adopted son Kae was there are being held prisoner by 5 or 6 men. The FDG is armed and angry and they set off to free the girls. Despite some inaccurate shooting, all are rescued and taken home. But Boris, a dearly beloved brother is mortally wounded.
It is at Boris' funeral that TH reflects to himself about why each of them fight so hard. "If we are true to ourselves, we cannot be false to anyone, as we learn in Hamlet." He is acknowledging why each person's individuality is crucial to the success of the group.
After the funeral, where everyone has been encouraged to spend time with their families and relax and play, that a few of the soldiers are talking. "He (Boris) would never ask his people to do something that he wouldn’t do, and that’s how he died, by leading the way.”
THW almost cries when he hears his years of hard efforts being spoken by the soldiers. "We wanted to join up, be bad asses. And you know what? We learned that it wasn’t about that at all. It was living to a higher ideal, making people feel safe because they knew we’d protect them."
The Kutherian Gambit Series is more than just a post-apocalyptic novel series. It is a blueprint for how to learn from the past and avoid making the same mistakes. It is about keeping the Human in Humanity and the Were in Werewolves. Just a heart warming series. On to the next book.
Audiobook review: Terry and Char are a force to be reckoned with. The storyline is entertaining and interesting. The characters are likable and believable. Highly recommend this series! The narrator did a great job!
These last two books have been the best in the series to date. As the former citizens of Boulder make their way to Chicago, the advance group works diligently to get the power plant running. A couple of battles, more training for the Force de Guerre, laughs and plenty of character growth.
The deeper I get in this series the more I love it. I never thought when starting this series that it would contain so many different stories of the characters in the Kutherian Universe. I have grown to love almost everyone who ties into the story to make it great.
Awww Cordelia Dawn! Can't wait to see how she grows and what she'll get into. For now I'm stuck in this Kurtherian Universe and I didn't even mean to! Huge fan of post-apocalyptic reading and to mix it with KU is just awesome for me. Keep writing in this amazing series and others Mr. Martelle. Fantastic job. Just a side comment... Every character in this series I can put into a category. I love them/ I don't love them. I can't figure out why Timmons irks me so much and he won't go into any of my categories.
There are so many great things happening in Nomad's Fury that it's impossible to praise Craig Martelle and Michael Anderle's talents highly enough. Where to start...? Colonel Terry Henry Walton and Major and his wife Charumati ,(a werewolf) are Alphas of Char's former werewolf pack; at the end of this book Char gives birth to their first child together, daughter Cordelia Dawn. She's now their third child, as adopted son Kaeden's sister also joins their growing family. All the crusaders are finally able to reunite and welcome new inhabitants, (including a tribe of Native Indians, plus a number of young girls rescued from a predatory vampire and his recruits from New York), to the new sanctuary of North Chicago. Oh and by the way, they get a were-tiger and a Russian were-bear, (who 'adopts' and renames Hank, the group's orphan bear cub, as Bogdan) to add to the list of citizens. With all the training, interaction, gritty and believable characters - including two Japanese aliens and their AI sidekick - let alone the all-action fight scenes, I'm sure you'll agree this brilliant story could very enjoyably have been twice the length and still not dragged/been repetitive or anything but wonderful...more please!!
The colony is growing both in size but also in confidence in their ability to achieve their goals. More and more of the FDG are changing from just looking at their service as an honorable way to be warriors who protect those who are unable to defend themselves against any threat. Semper Fidelis! The town of North Chicago is being seen as the beginning of true civilization being nearly within their grasp, and the combination of the Weres, humans of various cultures including Native Americans are living in harmony with each other. The hope is that this not only continues but becomes more widespread. Towards the end of the book the FDG are tasked with a genuine mission to accomplish. I look forward to reading the next book starting later today !
Loving the Kurtherian Gambit Series and all the Sub-Series More
As a disabled Vet with PTSD, I have to say THANKS CRAIG and most of the other writer for not going Overboard on the Action section. But more on the Honor and Protecting those that can't do themselves. It not always easy to be reminded that there are people who Prey on the Weak out there and if there isn't someone to protect them we've lost. Stepping down from the SoapBox lol. I read one of the reviews on the back of this book that brought up a Great poo and the was the Individual Character Development and the Expansion of the Characters as the Series progresses. Just not Nomad but the Kurtherian Gambit Series and All the Sub-Series. Thanks Rich L.
The main character is a Smoke Jumper, I say this because if there is a fire of injustice within notice he jumps in without hesitation. He is the man with a plan, to jump start civilization, an enhanced man and previous to the Worlds Worst Day Ever one of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children, but still human and even a bit hen pecked by his werewolf wife. He has also gathered about himself capable and talented humans in all of their variety. If I were in this universe I'd rally to the colors. Enough said really, this is a series worth following and I think the author is improving in his craft, action stories with believable characters in a dystopian universe, what more do you need?
This book was just everything that I'm loving about this series.
There's a lot of gung-ho action, some tender moments, some belly laughs, and an all round feeling of completeness, as I read through the actions of THW, and Char, as they free some more humans from the Forsaken, then free a group of girls and women from some equally evil men.
Then, to top it all off, we get a few new editions to the family!
This is truly a mix of both heartbreaking, and heartwarming, actions and, even better, we get an appearance from Akio, Yuko, and Eve! Yay!
In case you didn't guess, I thoroughly loved this book, and am about to start the next in the series: Nomad's Justice!
I am a snatch reader and prone to read multiple authors. I stumbled upon this series and tried the first book because of its ratings. The ratings have been earned. This series has been well written and plot is definitely a heroes journey. The authors invest effort to identify a goal that humanity can grow and happiness is attainable when security exists. Peace has to be earned and defended. The characters have been well developed. There is sufficient detail that you can almost see the story line without being bogged down in minutiae. I couldn’t recommend this book more. Well done.
CM/MA have penned the fifth entry of the stories of life after the end of the world. ThH and his growing group of people have decided to move to a more defending place for th growing population. They pick Great Lakes Naval Station where the military equipment is in abundance. The people begin to arrive soon after the selection. TH's group takes two months thru hostile territory , but finally make it before their baby is born. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
So I am new to the series, honestly about less than a month. I am devouring these books as fast as I can! They are engaging and exciting, plus hilarious! TH is fun and methodical. His intelligence in extremely attractive and he's a great guy with a nice family. Like Bethany Anne he seems to draw loyal followers and inspire many to be the best person possible. The author afterwards generally make me laugh and smile. The authors are never short of praising and thanking those who've helped them.
TH and Char's family is growing, as is the town! Weres, forsaken and humans all pull together to help Akio on a mission and it is action packed! As a Native myself, I love the way Mr. Martelle writes for my people and his inclusion of them in this series makes me feel more apart of it. Great read and I am as excited to read the next book as I was the first time I read this series.
Love the story but the authors obviously have little or no military experience. The M2HB .50 caliber machine gun is known as the Ma Deuce, not the Mod Deuce and it has firing handles and and a spade trigger so you do not pull it firmly into your shoulder to fire it like you would an M60 or a rifle.
These keep getting better and better. I like the close tie in to Bethany Ann and Michael. I am expecting Terry to meet Valeria on day. So much excitement and adventure.
I don't normally read after the end of the world stories but decided to read these books because of the Bethany Anne series and I have to say WOW 5 books in 3 days and just purchased book 6.
The characters continue to flesh out and so does the narrative. Torn between starting the next of it reading the latest Druid book from Candy Crum but I think I'll soldier through with THW.
To tell you how good this book series is I would rather read it than game or watch TV this latest installment I read in less than 18 hours which for me is pretty fast. They are fun ride
It's fascinating following the journey of those who are leading the broken world back to civilisation. The characters keep growing, and there's a beauty to the flow of life and death. PS: Michael, where are the kittens???? lol
Worthy book of the series. Plenty of action, interpersonal relationships and new additions. Would be better if you have read the preceding books in the Terry Henry series, but it should be possible to pick up enough background as you read if not.
The FDG is bringing humanity back to civilization.
They may have to kill to protect the civilians. In order for others to feel safe they must become the most dangerous warriors on the planet. In this book they take the fight to the bad guys.
A well written story! Enjoyed it all the way thru. Cannot write as well as you real authors, but you want to hear from us idiots that escape life, bills, and pain by reading your stuff. Don't listen to the may sayers, just do it. Nay! Not may. Stupid machine!
This was a reslly good part of the story. Everything is going on, death, birth, love, fear, joy, sorrow, it's all here. The way humanity has always been, and it's really lovely to read.
Nomad's Fury is a fantastic story. There is a lot of action as TH as his marines continue to help the innocent. I love seeing Aiko again too. The entire book is a wild ride and I am sure you'll love it too. Enjoy!
I find it is rare for an author to be able to keep their mojo going in book after book, but Craig Martelle certainly manages it seemingly with ease! Somehow I doubt he'd say it was easy, but from the reader perspective, his efforts appear flawless.
I love this series. I love the series that spawned it. I love the universe in which all of these stories take place! Of all the collaborative off-shoots of The Kurtherian Gambit' universe, the TH Chronicles are a consistent favorite. The characters have such depth, and no one is treated as inconsequential, even if their appearance is brief... it is meaningful to the overall story.
To me, that is a key element of what truly makes a good story... and you will find no better storytellers than the authors collaborating in the TKG universe. Come travel with us through their creations...We have chocolate chip cookies!
This is the best yet of the series and they are all great books! It's a fantastic blend of two of my favorite genres, dystopian and sifi! BUY THIS BOOK!
Great story, full of well developed characters. The end of a long journey for some but new beginnings for many. There are plenty of thrilling adventures for everyone.
